He’s my rock and my anchor, my dream lover and my best friend. I write songs about him and kiss him all day long. I’m so in love with him it scares me, to be this emotionally, spiritually and physically attached to my beautiful hunky rock star fiancé. Momma met a farmer from the other side of town at a dinner club she started going to and has been on a few dates with him. His name is Earl and he plays an old fiddle. He’s actually had a couple of jam sessions with the brothers after our Sunday lunches and he’s damn good. They’ve even talked about getting him to accompany one of the songs on their next album.
Travis’s three cousins, Gage, Caleb and Bo all came for Christmas with their wives, Luna, Violet and Millie, and we had the best four days together. We spent the whole time eating and drinking, taking walks, playing pool and laughing. They’re amazing people with big hearts, interesting lives and a real care for each other that’s both endearing and fun to be a part of. One thing I’m learning about Travis and his family: they love hard and once they’ve fallen, they’re all in.
Kade got his own love story, which was as entertaining to watch as it was dramatic. Stella has become one of my best friends. But that’s a story for another day …
Roxie also got her love story, and one that might be the closest thing to a fairy tale I’ve ever heard of …
As for Gigi, she finished her degree in social work. Her first day of work happened to coincide exactly with the day Travis, Roxie and Kade booked Vaughn into rehab for an intervention he insisted he didn’t need. He says his excesses are a case of an overload of energy he needs an outlet for.
We’ll see.
But if there’s anyone on this earth who can fix him, it’s Gigi, although the two of them are about as compatible as oil and water. Or at least that’s what I used to think. I remember that first time they met in our kitchen, thinking that Gigi and Vaughn would be the worst match in history.
