Blood Lust (Royal Bastards MC Baltimore #5)(15)
Author: Erin Trejo

The ride was different this time. Evie wrapped herself around me like she fucking belonged on the back of my bike. In a way, I think she does. I know this is all fucked up and the plan was shot to shit when I saw something else in her, now I’m as confused as ever. I want to keep her. I want to have her in my bed every night, I want her screaming just like she did on that table, but in the back of my mind I know there’s a war that’s slowly brewing and it’s my fault. Eventually I will have to deal with it and I know that.

Pulling into the clubhouse, I park and kill the engine. Climbing off, I don’t offer my hand to Evie like a good man should, but she doesn’t seem to mind. She climbs off leaving the helmet on the seat as we walk toward the door. That’s another thing about her that I like. She isn’t clingy. She doesn’t need to be hanging off me all the time. I pull the door open and usher her inside. As soon as we step in the stares and whistles start. I flip them all off as I press my hand to her back and guide her toward the bar.

“Sit there. I gotta talk to Demon.” She doesn’t argue, just sits like she’s told. I find myself a little amused by her. Why doesn’t she argue or fight? She hasn’t since I took her and I make a mental note to ask her later. Not that I don’t like her submission but I don’t understand it. I don’t like things I can’t understand. Heading down the hall I say hi to a few guys. I’m not interested in chatting with them further, I just want to know what the fuck Demon wanted me here for. Stopping at his door, I open it and walk in. A little blonde is on her knees sucking his cock as I watch.

“You came.”

“You told me to,” I remind him as I watch her bob her head. It doesn’t turn me on to watch others getting a blow job but I still watch. Demon grunts as he blows down her throat. I just drop onto the couch and wait. When he’s finished, he shoves the girl off and sends her on her way.

“What is this shit?” I ask looking up at Demon.

“Straight to the point, yeah?”

“You stormed in my house and demanded I be here. Yeah, I’m to the point.” My anger is there, slowly festering but so far Demon hasn’t called it out.

“You kept her.”

“Is that a question?”

“No. I saw you bring her ass in here. Are you ready for what’s gonna happen when Cory realizes you have her?” I huff out a laugh and lounge on the couch watching him.

“You think I’m stupid? I know what the fuck I’m up against and I can handle it. I told you this before.” His eyes meet mine and I see the anger in them. I might be ready for this but he isn’t. “Take that fuckin’ look off your face, brother. I’m not includin’ the club in this shit.” In seconds he’s out of the chair and yanking me off the couch. His fist slams into my face, blood slides down my chin. I smirk as he pulls back again but he doesn’t strike. Instead he becomes angry.

“You think the club isn’t involved in this? You are my fuckin’ VP, Drake!”

“And she isn’t your problem or this club’s problem, brother. She’s mine. I’ll deal with the blowback before it ever becomes an issue.” His eyes find mine and there’s an uncertainty in them. I can’t say I don’t get it; I do understand. Demon lowers his hand and steps away from me as he blows out a breath. I pull a cigarette out and light it up before wiping the blood off my chin with the back of my hand.

“I get it, Demon. I do, but I’m gonna handle Cory,” I remind him once more.

“She on board with this? She don’t look like she’s fightin’ it.” I raise my shoulder in a shrug because frankly I don’t give a shit if she’s on board or not.

“She hasn’t fought me.”

“A fact you don’t find a little odd?” he asks raising an eyebrow. I shrug again and chuckle before blowing smoke into the air.

“At first I did. Now I’m not so sure. She doesn’t seem to mind bein’ around me.” It still confuses me. Don’t get me wrong. Anyone in their right mind would run from a man like me and the things I have done, but she isn’t.

“No one’s heard from Bic. I got guys lookin’ into it.” Shit, I didn’t need this shit on top of everything else.

“I ain’t talked to him either,” I add. No one will be. Not after what I did to him. Besides, he’s in a better hell than this one now.

“Sent a few guys out to his sister’s place. She said her man disappeared and might be with him, but she ain’t talked to him either.”

I sigh, thanking God that the little bitch didn’t say a word about what happened out there that night. I might have gone back and taken care of her had she spoken up.

“Want me to check around?” I offer while in the back of my mind, I know where the little bastard is. He’s buried in a cemetery, isn’t that enough?

“No. I want you to tell me what the fuck this is with the girl first. Fuck Bic. He’s replaceable.”

“Ain’t shit. I’m keepin’ her. I told you that much.”

“Why? What is it with her?”

That’s the question I keep asking myself, and I keep coming up blank. I don’t know what it is with Evie that draws me in. I don’t know why keeping her is so important to me.

“Don’t know, and even if I did, it has shit to do with you, Demon. You’re the prez. I get it but don’t take this shit to heart. She’s mine and that’s it.”

“You blowin’ off the club?” His words are laced with anger and I can’t blame him.

“Thought about it. My plan didn’t pan out. I didn’t want to kill her after I had her,” I admit to him. Demon reaches for a bottle of vodka and takes a long pull before offering it to me. I lean forward and grab it, taking a long burning pull.

“Look, I ain’t one to get in your shit and you know that. I don’t give two fucks what you do with the women you sleep with, Drake. But this club, us, we are somethin’. You’ve been my VP for a long time and I don’t plan on changin’ that.”

I nod my head, scrub my hand through my hair before plucking the cigarette from my lips.

“Then you need to gimme some time. Let me handle this shit the way I see fit. I’m not givin’ her back but I’m not bringin’ a war on this club because my plans fucked up.”

Demon leans back in his seat, his eyes burning into mine. “Why not?”

“Why not what?”

“Let the club get involved. We take them out, we move on. Simple.” He crosses his arms over his chest as I watch him. He might be right. We could do that but what’s the point in waging a war? I stole her. I took her for my own selfish reasons.
