Sins of the Father (It's Complicated #5)(11)
Author: Maggie Cole

I lead her to the front of the line.

“Steven.” The bouncer beams and slaps my hand.

“Hey, Jeff. Mind if we sneak in?”

“Nope. Go on in.”

“Thanks, man.”

I keep Harper close to me and escort her past the crowd and directly to the side booth where VIPs go. “Hey, Terrie. How are you?” I ask the coat-check girl.

“I’m great, Steven. Saw you’re trending on social media.”

I force a smile, groaning inside, and hand her my phone. Club D has a strict policy, and everyone has to check their phones so pictures and videos aren’t taken of guests.

Terrie hands me a ticket and says to Harper, “Phone?”

“She didn’t bring it.”

Terrie smiles. “Okay, have a great night.”

I tug Harper even closer as we weave around people. When we turn the corner, I run into Derek Derow, the owner.

“Steven.” He embraces me. His tall frame slightly hovers over mine.

“Hey, D. This is Harper. She’s from New York and loves your club there.”

He kisses Harper’s cheek. “Nice to meet you. You in town for the weekend?”

“Yes, my brother’s wedding. We just ditched the rehearsal dinner.”

He chuckles. “Well, come on in, and I hope you love it as much as my New York Club.” He pulls a card out of his pocket and hands it to me. “This VIP room was on reserve, and the party canceled at the last minute. Have at it.”

“Thanks.”

He pats me on the back and leaves.

“Do you come here a lot?”

“My company has a lot of events here for staff parties and entertaining our clients.”

She smirks, and my dick suddenly feels suffocated in my pants. “And you said your job was boring. Doesn’t sound boring to me.”

“Events are a small part of my role.”

A popular hip-hop song comes on. Her eyes light up, and she grabs my hand and drags me to the dance floor.

It’s still early and isn’t bodies to bodies yet. “You don’t want a drink first?” I yell through the music.

She grabs two tubes from the tray the shot girl is carrying, and I pull out my wallet.

She scrunches her face. “Shit, sorry. I didn’t bring my purse.”

“Don’t worry about it.” I throw a twenty on the tray and take the shot.

I haven’t had enough alcohol to be out here.

We give the glasses back to the waitress.

“Whoa. Those are strong.”

Thank the Lord.

She throws her hands in the air and spins then tugs me close to her. Even though I’m always self-conscious and never dance unless I’m half tanked, which is rare, I don’t analyze things. All I can do is move with her and ogle every part of her carefree self.

We dance for hours, taking shots whenever the girl comes near us, and the floor becomes packed with bodies.

Any reservations I have about touching her melt into thin air. From the moment she swayed her hips against me, I was a goner. Her energy radiates into me, and I don’t know if the buzz I’m feeling is from the alcohol or her. It started when I first laid eyes on her and has only intensified throughout the night.

And my cock is as hard as a rock, but she keeps torturing it, rubbing her ass and stomach on it any chance she gets.

My rule about giving a woman her space until we’ve gotten to know each other, so I don’t disrespect her or make her feel uncomfortable, flies out the window. For the first time ever, I’m so in the moment, I don’t analyze my every move.

“I need water,” she yells.

I lead her off the dance floor and to the elevator, slide my card key, and then hit the button to the VIP level. It’s crowded, and I put my arm around her waist and hold her close to me.

Her fingers grip my thighs, and she tilts her head up. Her green eyes drill into mine, and I lean over her face, examining every stunning feature. Without thinking, I lightly brush my lips on her cheekbone. She digs her fingers deep into my muscles and shudders against my erection while closing her eyes and gasping.

The elevator stops. Someone pushes into my back, snapping me back to reality.

I quickly lead her to the VIP room then hand her a bottle of water. She drinks, and I watch her, wondering how someone can look so sexy guzzling water.

She hands me the bottle. “Want the rest?”

I finish it then stare at her.

She pushes me to the couch. “Sit.”

I obey, and she straddles me, weaving her fingers into my hair. Her luscious lips are inches from mine. She giggles. “Hi.”

“Hi.”

What is it about her eyes?

“Are you having fun?”

“Yeah. Are you?”

The green in her eyes flickers. “Mm-hmm.”

She’s like a trap, and I’m the fly. I lean closer but don’t touch her lips. Instead, I slide my hand through her locks and brush my lips against her jaw while murmuring, “Is that perfume or just you?”

She shudders.

“Hmm?” I ask while concentrating on the spot right under her ear.

“Perfume...no. I didn’t put any on today. I forgot it in New York.”

I groan.

She presses closer to me. The heat of her sex teases my pulsing cock with every tiny thrust she makes. “I don’t think you’re boring.”

“No?” I nibble on her ear.

She whimpers and grinds faster. Her fingers massage my scalp. She tilts my head back and sucks on my neck then licks my Adam’s apple.

This woman is going to make me blow my wad.

“Are you going to dance with me tomorrow, or will we act like nothing happened?” she asks.

She’s Jamison’s sister. It can’t go anywhere. She lives in New York.

This is already way past your rules.

You haven’t even taken her on a date.

We’ve drank too much. Don’t disrespect her. She’ll regret you in the morning.

I hold her hips firm so she can’t circle on my cock anymore. “We should get going. It’s late, and tomorrow is going to be a long day.”

She freezes.

I kiss her forehead and gently move her off me. I hold my hand out to her. She grips the edge of the couch and blinks several times, focusing on my feet.

“Harper? You all right?”

“Yep.” She rises, avoids looking at me, and marches out of the room.

Oh shit. Once again, you did something wrong.

“Harper?”

She glances around, passes the elevator, and opens the door to the stairwell.

“Harper, where are you going?”

“Stairs are good exercise.”

She rushes toward the front of the club, curving through the crowd, and exits the building.

I quickly get my phone from the check-in counter and step outside. I look around, and she’s halfway down the street.

“Harper, where are you going?”

“Home.”

“You’re going the wrong way.”

She spins and walks toward me.

“I didn’t mean to—”

She passes me.

“Harper,” I growl.

She freezes.

“I’m not sure what’s happening right now.”

“Nothing. How many blocks am I from Jamison’s?”
