Sins of the Father (It's Complicated #5)(58)
Author: Maggie Cole

His lips become a torture device, teasing me, then shocking me with intense waves of endorphin-filled pressure.

“Faster,” I pant, buzzing with adrenaline but only on the cusp of coming. I try to move my hips quicker, but I’m unable to since I’m sandwiched between him and the wall.

He grunts, thrusts harder, and hits my G-spot.

My body becomes a pinball machine as he pounds into it, and I spasm, clutching his erection. But it’s like trying to maintain your grasp when someone has slippery hands, and he creates havoc on my sensitive walls.

“Harper,” he growls into the curve of my neck.

His sweat merges with mine, and our bodies drenched in our lust, mixing with the smell of our sex, is like an intoxicating drug.

“Suck me,” I yell.

He flicks his tongue on my skin then grips me so hard with his lips before biting me, I’m sure I’ll be bruised.

“Don’t stop...oh…oh...” I cry out as a vicious tremor starts in my toes, violently coursing up my limbs.

“Jesus, Harper,” he groans then his erection swells, detonating like a bomb into my already trembling body.

Our chests heave together, hearts thumping. We cling to each other, not moving, coming down from our highs.

“Harper,” he mumbles, lifting his head. Guilt fills his eyes.

I slide my tongue in his mouth, urgent, needy, trying to prove to him I’ll be his outlet for any of his anger or fear or sadness. And it isn’t anything he should analyze and tear apart. I want him—all the time. Any way he’ll have me or wants me—I’m his to do with what he sees fit. Every touch he gives me is electrifying. The trust I have in him allows me to feel every morsel of anything we do, and I want every one of those feelings.

I pull out of our kiss. “Nothing you want from me is off-limits. I crave you. Hard or gentle, I want it, all hours of the day and night. However you need me, it’s exactly what I need, too.”

The layers of blue in his eyes shift. He lowers to my neck and brushes his lips and lightly licks my bruise.

“Feels so good,” I whisper as tingles zing on my skin.

His lips trail across my jaw and back to my mouth. A slow-burning kiss of fire smolders and grows until I’m panting again. “I love you, Harper,” he murmurs against my lips then slides his tongue back in my mouth before I can respond. His cock hardens, still inside me, and he takes two steps, then kneels while laying me on my back on the padded mat.

“I love you, too,” I finally have a chance to say.

He doesn’t reply, locks eyes with me, moves my sweaty hair off my face, and pecks my cheekbones, nose, and lips. Instead of thrusting in me, he pulls out, and spends the next hour, keeping me on the edge of euphoria, making me beg, igniting a torch so hot, it spirals out of control until I’m dizzy.

Only then does he reenter me. This time, there’s nothing fast or hard about our joining. We murmur our adorations, clutching the other, our cries once again echoing in the room.

When we’re finally exhausted, satiated from the power of each other, he holds me in his arms. “Thanks for not letting me hurt myself.”

I tilt my head up. “This is better, isn’t it?”

His lips slowly turn up. “Yes. But everything about you in my life makes it better.”

And it’s exactly how I feel about him in mine.

Steven

Monday arrives. I’ve been on pins and needles since Saturday, and the flipping of my gut never seems to go away unless I’m having sex with Harper.

We went over to my sister’s on Sunday, but Quinn was such a wreck, it only made me more anxious trying to calm her down.

At eight a.m., Harper and I get into the car and meet Claire at the airport. She’s back to help get my mom out on bail, which is scheduled for ten. Jamison and Quinn are meeting us at the courthouse.

As soon as she gets in the car, Claire says, “Creedie will be here later today. He’ll meet us at Jamison’s at four.”

“What did he say about the FBI agents working the case?” Harper asks.

“He said he believes they are legit. But he spoke to his boss, who has clearance over this case, and agreed to let him err on the side of caution since the mob is involved. He gave Creedie the okay to wire you up.”

My nerves vibrate with anxiety, but if my mom has any chance of not going to prison for the rest of her life, I don’t see any other way out of it.

Claire tilts her head and focuses on me. “Steven, are you sure you’re able to do this?”

“I’ve never been a good liar. It’s why I always tell the truth.”

Harper scoots closer and places her hand on my thigh.

“Creedie and I will prepare you before you meet with the governor,” Claire says.

“Did you figure out Plan B? In case I screw everything up?”

“You won’t,” Harper insists.

“Not yet. But the recording I have of your mom telling me everything she knows is a lot of leverage. Let’s try to make this happen and nail him.”

“What about the mob? Won’t they come after Steven?” Harper asks the question I’ve been scared to bring up. It’s the elephant in my mind I keep trying to push away.

Claire leans closer. “I discussed several options with Creedie. He’s worked on mob cases before. Here’s what we think is best. Get the governor to tell you how he’s going to have the charges against your mom dropped. If we can get him to admit your mom had nothing to do with it and he set her up, along with his plans to get her out of this mess, then we can charge him. Creedie thinks the governor will either flip on the mob or shut his mouth and take his punishment. However, our guess is, due to his ego, he’ll flip on the mob to save his own skin. Guys like him think they’re untouchable.”

“And the mob won’t come after my mom?”

“No. They will go after him. They know your mom is just his fall woman. They will go after the governor and possibly his family, but we highly doubt they will attempt to do anything with your mom. But it wouldn’t be a bad idea to arrange for some protection until things blow over.”

For the first time since finding out Maximillion’s family knew about my mom and Quinn and me, I feel sorry for them. “Is there any way to prevent them from trying to harm his family?”

“We can’t control that. I’m sure the mob will threaten to harm his family, but because he’s so full of arrogance, he’ll probably choose to make a deal and turn on them. It is what it is. Right now, the only people we can try to protect is your family.”

I don’t like this. I hate I’m in this predicament, but I refuse to let my mom sit in prison. “Okay. Whatever I need to do, I’ll make happen.”

The car pulls up to the courthouse.

Claire says, “I get to talk with your mom before she goes in front of the judge. I suggest you wait here as long as you can and come in just before her scheduled time. It can be nerve-wracking watching others talk with the judge.”

“All right. Thanks for everything you’re doing.”

Claire smiles. “Of course.” She slides over to get out.

Fear and sadness flood my chest, and it tries to choke me. I blink hard. “Will you give my mom a hug for me?”
