Max (Ride Second Generation #1)(28)
Author: Megan O'Brien

My hands caressed the glorious muscle in his arms before raking over his broad back in a bid to somehow contain what was already building inside me.

He took up a slow rhythm, pressing against me as his teeth nipped at my neck and shoulder. I’d never known that a small bite of pain turned me on that much more. Max had discovered that and had frequently used it to his advantage to drive me absolutely crazy.

“Take these off,” I panted, my fingers at the hem of his boxers.

“Soon,” he promised, chuckling at my groan of frustration. “There’s only one first time with you,” he murmured, dropping a kiss on my collarbone.

“There will also be a second and a third,” I reminded him on a moan as his fingers danced over the bundle of nerves screaming for attention.

“And a twentieth and a hundredth,” he interjected, not pausing his ministrations. “I told you I’d be your first and last, and I meant it.”

I cupped his face in my hands, staring up at the man I’d fallen in love with so absolutely that there was no question he was my forever. “I know.” My breath hitched as a light sheen of sweat broke out over my skin. He played my body like an instrument, watching with hooded eyes as he brought me over the edge.

“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured as I shuddered in his arms. Finally, when I’d managed to control my breathing somewhat, he moved away from me, but only so far as to slip off his boxers.

“It’s gonna hurt this first time, babe. Then, it’ll be so fucking good. Promise.” He swore as he moved in between my legs, pressing against my entrance.

I bit my lip and nodded, forcing myself to relax as he nudged inside me.

It stung as he pushed further. I was small, and Max definitely was not. But it was a good kind of pain because it meant I was as close to him as you could be with another person.

“Christ, you feel so good. Are you okay?” he managed through gritted teeth.

I nodded as he pressed all the way inside me in one fluid thrust. He paused, giving me a moment to adjust. He was being so careful with me, I knew it took everything in him to take me slow.

“I’m okay, Max. I need you to move.” I marveled at the full feeling of having him inside me.

He picked up his rhythm to a slow and steady tempo that had me gasping for breath. His fingers moved between my legs, eclipsing the bite of pain with pleasure as he brought me with him toward the pinnacle.

When he bit down on my shoulder, I cried out his name, hurdling over the edge with him immediately behind me.

He groaned out my name, the throaty rumble the most beautiful sound. He collapsed gently on top of me, licking at the small mark he’d created as I wrapped my arms and legs around him, wanting to keep him inside me just a bit longer despite the pain.

He kissed my neck before lifting his head to look me in the eye. “I love you, Wren.”

“I love you too,” I replied, feeling so deliciously full both body and soul.

He slid out of me gently, watching my face the entire time. I gave him a smile, assuring him I was okay. “Let’s take a bath.” He pulled me up off the bed and toward the bathroom. “It’ll help with the soreness.”

I would have rather stayed in bed, but I could tell he needed to take care of me, so I nodded and followed him into the bathroom.

Once we slipped into the bubbles, I leaned back against his chest with a pleasure-filled moan. He’d been right. The warm water immediately reduced the ache between my legs.

He wrapped his arms around me, kissing my jaw as we lay in comfortable silence. I took his large hand in mine, tracing over the rough patches earned from working on his bike and lifting weights to the soft patch on the top of his hand, never having felt so content.

“Did you find out anything?” I asked quietly.

His body noticeably stiffened under mine. “Let’s talk about it later.”

“Bu—” I started to protest.

He squeezed me, gently kissing my neck. “I’ll tell you what I know but later. Right now, I want to hold your sexy-as-fuck, soapy little body against mine and hope the bath soothes you enough so I can take you again and then make you some dinner.”

I barely suppressed a moan and decided I could wait to find out any details he’d learned. Tonight was about Max and me.

Chapter 25

MAX

I sipped coffee on the back deck the next morning, staring out over the landscape as the sun rose above the mountains to the east. I’d needed to get out of bed—it was too tempting to take Wren again, and I knew she was sore.

Last night had been one of the best of my life. She’d given herself to me so willingly. Nothing better.

I watched the dogs sniffing their way through their territory, ever watchful as Frank hopefully unsuccessfully hunted for mice.

The door slid open behind me, and I turned to watch Wren step toward me dressed in nothing but one of my tees and panties.

I pulled her into my side, grabbing her ass as I took her mouth in what I’d intended to be a soft kiss but quickly turned out to be much more.

“You weren’t in bed,” she accused when we finally broke apart, her lips swollen and pink.

“You’re sore, and if I’d stayed, I don’t think I could have helped myself,” I admitted ruefully.

She smiled, clearly pleased. “What’s on for today?”

I shrugged. “Was hoping we could take it easy. There’s a thing at the club tonight, but we can go only if we feel like it.”

“That sounds great,” she agreed. “What are those brochures on the counter?”

“Kevin dropped by some patio door design ideas yesterday. I was waiting for you to have a look at them.”

“Me? Why?”

“So I don’t pick something you don’t like,” I replied, as though it should be obvious, and it should be.

“Max, it’s your house.” She still sounded utterly confused.

“No.” I shook my head slowly, calling for patience. “It’s our house. It became your house when you moved in, before that even.” I stepped closer to her cupping her jaw in my hands, tipping her face up to look at me. “Figured you’d know that since you let me inside you last night, since I’m the only man that has ever been there or will ever be there, and since you love me and I love the fuck out of you, that you’re mine in every sense of the word.”

I watched the pulse kick in her neck as a gorgeous blush tinged her cheeks.

“If you don’t like it here, then we can find a different place, but gotta tell you, babe, I like the space and the quiet.”

“I love it here too, Max.”

“So, you get me?” I prompted with a swat to her backside.

“I get you,” she replied with a gorgeous smile.

I grinned, knowing I smiled so much more often now that she was in my life. “Great. Now, will you please go pick some doors? I hate doing that shit,” I grumbled.

“Bossy,” she muttered without ire.

“Your cross to bear, sweetheart.”

When we walked into the club later that night, hand in hand, Wren was almost immediately pulled away by Ginnie, X’s woman, chattering something about the salon.

With her purple hair and sleeve of tattoos, Ginnie had never been afraid to stand out or to speak up. She and X were perfect together.
