There were tears in my eyes. Ones that I’d never admit to, because watching her there had to be the closest thing to perfect I’d ever encountered in my life. But I had to man up, because I knew without a shadow of a doubt that my cousin still had that damn camera pointed at my face. So, I said the only thing I could think of.
“What’s that, your underwear?”
Watching her face flush, starting with her neck and going all the way up to the roots of her hair, I knew Avery wouldn’t have anything to say to that. Nor did she ever say anything when I put them in her night stand at the house. She never moved them, though.
Sitting there with Avery in my arms and Lucas by our side, I counted every single blessing in my life. Every rule created, every rule I followed like they were laws, they all led me right back to Avery James. The only person strong enough to make me bend them all.
