Rescued : An Everyday Heroes World Novel(24)
Author: Evan Grace

I press the stop button on my little remote control. Once I’m happy with the way it looks, I post it to my website, channel, and links to it on social media. I’m normally so excited to start planning my next adventure, but right now I don’t want to leave.

I have to though because it’s my job right now, my end game is to write for a travel magazine and possibly someday host my own travel segment on a morning show.

The thought of leaving Maverick sits heavily in my belly. We haven’t talked about the fact that I’ll be starting to travel again. This time I won’t travel back to back to back. I will take breaks in between.

He’s outside working on the yard right now, and I know we need to have this conversation, but what if he ends things? What if he can’t handle me being away? Ugh… I’m getting myself all worked up.

I rub a hand over my stomach while it turns, closing my eyes, I take a deep breath as the feeling goes away.

As I stick my laptop back in my bag Maverick comes in the back door. I swallow the drool that pools in my mouth as he walks toward me. He’s drenched in sweat and no longer wearing a shirt. His basketball shorts hang low on his hips, showing off the V that leads to his cock.

“Baby, you’ve got to stop staring at me like that.” Maverick’s voice cuts through the fog. He comes toward me, stopping when we’re just a foot away from each other.

Maverick smells like warmth and earth. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s the only way I can describe his scent. He grabs me around the waist until I come into contact with his sweaty chest.

“Hey, you’re getting me all wet.” I squeal as he begins kissing my neck.

He pulls back. “How about I go shower and you order us a pizza? After we eat, I’ll start a fire in the pit and we can sit outside for a while.”

“That sounds great. Have you even used it since you put it in?” I know Troy helped him build it not that long ago.

“No, and I can’t wait. I’ve got a wicker chaise lounge in the garage. I bought it a while ago, but I just haven’t put it out yet.”

Maverick kisses me before disappearing down the hall to the bathroom. When the shower kicks on, I order our pizza.

After dinner, we grab a couple of beers and head outside with Butch. The chaise lounge is on the little patio he built. The cushions are big and fluffy looking. I flop down while he gets the fire going and once it is, he sits down next to me.

We both sit quietly watching the flames dance. “It’s such a beautiful night,” I say as I lay my head on Maverick’s shoulder.

“Yeah it is. Have you thought about where you’re going next or what you want to do?”

My stomach turns and I don’t know what to say. I’m scared he’s going to end things. I take a huge pull from my beer. “I think Sedona, Arizona is where I want to go next. I want to go on a spiritual retreat. They have these vortexes of energy and paired with meditation help you with whatever journey you want to take.”

“That sounds cool. When are you leaving?”

Shit, does he want me gone? “Do you want me out of here?”

He sets his beer down and pulls me onto his lap. “No, of course I don’t. I didn’t know if your trip was already planned.”

“Oh, sorry, I honestly just decided today that I wanted to go there. I still have to make all the arrangements. It’ll be at least a month before I go.” I turn to look at him. “Did you always want to be a cop?”

Maverick takes a drink from his bottle. “I did. I just wanted to protect people and make a difference. It doesn’t always work out that way.” He gets quiet for a moment and I let him have that.

A few minutes later I say quietly, “Dad’s hoping that Grant will go to the police academy, but he’s still undecided on what he wants to do. He’s just finished his first year at community college.”

“Your brother is the younger version of your dad.”

I laugh because he’s right. The only difference is Grant Jr. isn’t afraid of heights.

The sun sets, bathing the night sky in an inky bluish-black. The fire is down to glowing embers. His neighbors on both sides have tall fences and I make a decision to be a little naughty. I get up, grab one of the pillows, and get down on my knees.

“What are you doing, baby?” he asks quietly.

Instead of answering him, I push him until he’s leaning back just a little. Even in the dark, I can feel his eyes on me. I reach up, grabbing the waistband of his shorts, and pull them out and down.

Maverick’s cock springs free, standing tall and hard. My mouth waters as I wrap my hand around the base of it. I push up on my knees and lick my lips as I lean forward, swirling my tongue around the head of his cock.

The taste of his precum is warm and salty on my tongue. I hold his gaze as I suck the tip into my mouth. He groans as I swallow him down to the back of my throat.

“Fuck, I love your hot mouth.” Maverick moans softly. “Yes, suck my cock baby.”

I close my eyes as I begin to bob up and down, sucking hard, and jerking him from the base. His hands thread through my hair, and then he grips it at the root.

When I reach between my legs and inside my panties, I moan. My fingers of my free hand slide through my arousal. I rub my clit as he begins fucking my face. He hits the back of my throat and I swallow him down.

“Baby, I’m gonna come, are you going to swallow every drop?”

He starts fucking my face hard and then begins to come. I swallow every last drop and begin to come myself. I lick Maverick’s cock as it begins to soften in my mouth as I whimper. He grabs my arm, pulling on it until my hand is out of my panties. Maverick grabs my wrist, bringing my hand up to his mouth. I moan as he licks the cum from my fingers.

“Mmmm… you taste delicious, baby.” He pulls his shorts back up, and grabs me, pulling me onto his lap. “Thank you for that.”

I lay my head on his shoulder. He kisses my forehead and hugs me. I could really get used to this.

“Why did you cancel your appointment?” I cross my arms over my chest. I just found out that Gwen was supposed to go talk to Joanna the other day.

She crosses her arms, copying my posture. “Because, you said she didn’t help you. I don’t feel like I need it. I’m sleeping better and you said it yourself that I haven’t been jerking in my sleep this past week. I’m over the accident, or at least over it enough that it’s not affecting my life.”

I look her over closely. I have noticed that she’s sleeping better. The dark circles that used to always be present aren’t any longer. “Promise me that if you feel like you need it, you’ll go.”

Gwen steps toward me and wraps her arms around my waist. “I will, I promise.”

“You’ll be here when I get off?” She nods. “Good, do you want to meet me for dinner?”

“Sure, just text me when and where and I’ll be there.”

I lean down and kiss her. “I’ll see you later.”

“Be safe.”

When I pull out of my driveway, I look in my side mirror and see that Gwen and Butch are standing on my porch, watching me as I drive away. On my way to work, I think about how much I like knowing that she’ll be at my place—that when I crawl into bed tonight Gwen will wrap her body around mine.
