An Artist Is Made
At the New York Opera Ball last night, nearly $300,000 was raised from the sale of an up-and-coming artist who goes by the name “Anna.” As she has no gallery or history of exhibitions, this is a record for first-time sales. Little can be ascertained about her background, but Miranda Chung snatched up this hot prospect and will be showing Anna’s work this week.
Proceeds from last night’s sale will benefit PS 342 in the Bronx, now due for repairs and reopening next fall. Before the ball, the artist herself appeared tense and distracted. When asked her inspiration, Anna said, “You know, life.”
