Loving York (Warwick Dragons #2)(22)
Author: Milly Taiden

“Josie,” he shouted, with one last hip thrust. He came hard, emptying himself inside of her. His entire body was still as his cock trembled inside of her, spurting all of his seed.

All around his erection, Josie spasmed, her walls milking everything he had to give to her. She purred, wordlessly begging for it. His eyes were locked with hers in the heated moment. He had come deep inside of his mate, and something in his soul was forever changed. He didn’t pull out, but leaned down, his body draping over Josie. He captured her lips in a kiss as his cock began to soften inside of her. He didn’t want the moment to end. It was too pure, too perfect.

“Love,” he said against her throat. “Was that all right?”

“All right? It was wonderful, York.” Her hands brushed his sweaty hair back. Her hazel eyes were sparkling with emotion. “It was more than wonderful. It was us.” She arched against him to kiss him softly.

He rolled them onto their sides, keeping her in his arms. York kissed the top of her head, inhaling her scent that now had a hint of him in it. It filled him with a sense of possession. Josie was his. His to protect, his to love.

“We left the sushi out. It’ll turn if we don’t eat it soon.” She stretched her body against his like a content kitten.

“I’m not ready to move,” he told her, already planning out his next amorous advances.

Josie giggled into his side as she drew patterns on his skin. “I could just go get a plate for us to share, if my womanly ways knocked you out that much.”

He growled, pinning her under him. He nipped at her shoulder. “That’s not why I don’t want to move from the bedroom. I want you again.” His cock was already thickening, and he rubbed it against her leg. Her eyes popped wide in shock.

“Whoa. I am so down with that.”

It took another few hours before they made their way back to the kitchen to eat a bit. Josie was wrapped in a dressing robe, and he was only in his briefs. They fed each other sushi, and York’s cheeks soon started to ache.

Because he was smiling so much.

Because he was with Josie.

They fell asleep in each other’s arms, and York rested. It was the kind of rest he hadn’t had in a very long time. His mate’s head laid against his heart, and he knew. No matter what life threw their way, they would face it.

Just us.

Chapter Sixteen

Josie

One week.

Seven days.

One-hundred-sixty-eight hours.

That’s how long it had been since Josie had last seen York.

Every fiber of her skin was craving him. She missed him with more force than she could have ever thought possible. What was wrong with her?

Nothing. Nothing was wrong with her. She just missed her man. Her dragon. Her York.

She knew she was probably half in love with him already. More than that. Fully in love. Why deny it?

York had left not long after their first night together. He had business in Europe that he had to urgently see to, but he had left her with a guard at the door of the brownstone. He had also linked her old phone to his. Every time Steiner messaged her, York got it, too. He would then send her what to reply on her brand new phone. One that had a secure line and was impossible to hack.

Josie had to admit that it was much easier going through this with York, rather than all by herself.

He checked in with her multiple times a day, either with a text, a call, or when she was lucky, a video call. Josie hadn’t ever thought that video chat sex could be sexy.

It was.

But only because it was York on the screen.

Have a good day, love. I’ll call you tonight before I get on the jet. xo

Josie read the words over, and she could have sworn that her lips were tingling with the memory of his kisses.

She didn’t like that he had to go, but she understood why. He had to meet with a contact he had in Interpol. She couldn’t have gone with him for multiple reasons.

First, if the Interpol agent knew she was the Jeweled Lady, there was every chance Josie would be arrested on the spot. York had to work his magic with the agent, before he revealed Josie’s name to her, to give her immunity for her crimes. It was a complex plan, but York had been very confident that it would work.

Second, Josie couldn’t leave the city. She had to go on pretending that she was working toward Milo Steiner’s goal of stealing the vase from the bank.

Letting Johanna in on the plan had been a point of contention between Josie and her man. The matriarch had to be brought in on the whole scheme, but Josie had been terrified that the woman would hate her for what Josie had almost done. In the end, Johanna had reacted with outrage. Not that Josie was a thief.

Johanna had already figured that one out, but Josie didn’t know how.

York swore that his mother must have some kind of psychic ability.

The elegant woman had been furious that another old shifter family would let one of their sons come after them. It was simply not done. Once Steiner was caught, and in jail, Johanna had every intention of reminding the shifter world that you just didn’t fuck with the Warwicks.

Not that Johanna had sworn.

Josie would have died of shock if the fashion queen had deigned to utter a swear word.

Since York had left, Johanna had spent more time in the brownstone, keeping Josie company. It was York’s doing, she was damn sure of it. He was already very protective of her. Not that she minded. The guard posted outside of the house definitely made it easier for her to sleep at night. Josie hadn’t even complained when the man, a dragon shifter by the name of Armstrong, followed her to the Parkour course.

She had gone nearly every day since York had left.

A lady had to burn the nervous energy somehow, and nothing said, calm the fuck down like jumping down from a twenty-foot drop.

Besides, Josie wanted to keep in shape in case things with Steiner went sideways. She had to be in fighting form. York was helping her deal with the snake, but that didn’t mean she was going to be a damsel in distress type, sitting on her ass while her man fixed all of her problems.

Fuck that.

She wasn’t like that.

Thank the good Lord, York understood Josie’s need to participate in taking Steiner down.

That was only one of the reasons the grumpy dragon was so perfect for her. Though, Josie smiled to herself, she couldn’t really tease him about being grumpy anymore. He had been a smiling ray of sunshine before leaving for Europe.

Damn, Josie couldn’t even tease him about his age.

The dragon was hundreds of years old, but he fucked like a champ. It had been Josie who had pleaded for a break from their sex marathon. He had been ready to go with only a few minutes and a glass of water in between rounds. Not that Josie would ever complain about that. Sex with York wasn’t just sex.

It was something else. Something more. It was fucking magical.

Even their nightly calls got steamier than the sex she had had with her exes.

Shifters, though.

Josie blushed as the doorbell rang, and she had to shake her head to banish any thoughts of sex. She couldn’t have a conversation with Johanna if she was picturing York’s perfect cock in her head. Josie hadn’t had the pleasure of getting her mouth on him, but when he was back in town? She would give him a good reason never to leave town again.
