Worth the Fight(39)
Author: Kristin Lynn

“Can I undress you?” he asked, looking at me, making sure I was still with him. And I loved how careful he was, his thoughtfulness about what I was comfortable with, but I was too impatient for that. Instead of answering him, I quickly ripped my shirt over my head and then unsnapped my bra, watching his reaction. I wasn’t disappointed, as he inhaled a deep breath, his eyes darkening with desire. “You’re beautiful, Kassidy.”

I felt him lengthening between our bodies, becoming incredibly hard as he leaned down, caressing my breasts with his mouth and one of his hands. It felt like he surrounded me, one arm around me and his other hand resting on my lower back, holding me closer to him and keeping me warm. Then, without warning, both of his hands were underneath me, lifting me up, and I wrapped my arms around him as he started walking. A few moments later, he was laying me back on his bed and following me down, his bigger body covering my own, making me feel delicate and small.

“Is this still okay?” he asked as he gazed down at me, but I pulled his head towards me, making him laugh as I kissed him again.

“I’m good. I promise,” I said a few minutes later as I pulled back from the kiss, out of breath. “And if I’m not okay with something, I’ll tell you.” Then, I was kissing him again, shoving one hand between us to try to unbutton his pants. He laughed again, pulling away from me and standing up, and I pouted.

“That tickled,” he said with a smile as he unbuttoned his pants himself, then pulled them down, followed by his boxers. He hadn’t turned on the light in the bedroom, but there was more than enough light from the rest of his apartment to see everything.

I was stunned for a moment, taking in every delicious inch of his body, and then I was lifting my hips off the bed, pulling my own clothes off and kicking them onto the floor until I was naked as well. Then, Evan grabbed a condom from his nightstand, and I stopped him.

“I’m okay without a condom if you are,” I told him. “I’m clean, and I have an IUD.”

“I’m clean, too. But are you sure?” he asked, and I rolled my eyes at him, once again making him chuckle. I loved that I had that power over him, to bring him to laughter so easily.

“Then what are you waiting for?” I asked as he stood near me, hovering over the bed.

“That’s a good question,” he said, grinning.

He moved on top of me again, holding himself up so that he didn’t completely crush me, but I savored his weight, the slight pressure making me feel comforted. Then he was kissing me again, and as I kissed him back feverishly, I felt his hand move between our bodies, brushing against my core.

“You’re so wet for me, Sunshine.” He nipped the sensitive spot between my neck and shoulder, making me shudder.

“Only for you,” I said with a groan.

Then, Evan blew my mind. As he kept kissing me, switching from my mouth to my neck and everywhere else he could reach, he pushed his fingers into me. He circled my clit at a steady tempo, but he was so gentle, his touch incredibly light. Instead of not being enough pressure, though, it was perfect, and in no time, I was screaming his name as my orgasm crashed over me.

“Where did you learn that trick from?” I asked him once I’d come down from my high, still breathing heavily.

He didn’t answer, though, just smiled and pressed one more kiss against my lips before flipping me over effortlessly and pulling my ass into the air. Then, he was touching me again, his thumb stroking against my clit harder this time as he pushed one finger inside of me, then a second. At the same time, his other hand alternated between lightly pulling my hair and lovingly stroking my back as he told me how hot I was, that he couldn’t wait to be inside me. Before I was ready, I was coming again, my body collapsing into the mattress.

“Turn over,” Evan said as I caught my breath, running a hand over my hip.

“I can’t,” I said, almost pleading with him. “I don’t think I can move.”

Evan laughed, sounding pleased. He laid down next to me, waiting patiently, and eventually, I was able to roll over onto my side so that we were facing each other. I reached out, trying to touch him, but he grabbed my hand, not letting me.

“Why are you stopping me?” I asked, feeling hurt.

“I’m barely hanging onto my control here, and if you touch me, it’s going to snap.” He rolled to his knees and moved between my thighs until he was lined up with me. Then, he was pushing my sweaty hair off my forehead and away from my face.

“I want to watch you for this part,” he said sweetly. “Are you ready?”

I nodded, suddenly wanting him inside me more than anything. And as he held my gaze, he slowly began pushing into me, filling me up. It felt incredibly intimate, like we were the only two people in the world. Once he was seated to the hilt, he leaned down for a small kiss before pulling out again. After a few tender strokes, though, I needed more. I wrapped my legs around him, lifting my hips to meet his with his next thrust. That was all it took for Evan to let loose, pounding into me, the muscles in his strong arms flexing as he moved. Then, he slid his hand between us, and I was so sensitive that with only the lightest touch, I was lost once again, Evan’s release quickly following.

Then, he rolled onto his back and pulled me partly on top of him as we caught our breath. Being held by him was even better after what we’d just shared, and I never wanted to move.

“Ready for round two?” Evan suddenly teased, and I lightly smacked him on the arm, lifting my head to scowl at him playfully.

He laughed, and then rolled out of bed. I couldn’t take my eyes off of his gorgeous body as he walked out of the room, turning the lights off in his apartment. He returned to bed moments later, pulling me back into his arms and dragging the blankets over us. I’d never been so content, and as I drifted to sleep, I felt his lips brush against my hair lightly as he whispered good night.

ONE MONTH LATER…

Evan and I had returned home from the cruise about a month ago, and since then, everything between us had been amazing. He was just as charming, sweet, and caring as he’d been five years ago, and outside of work, we were practically inseparable. Since the cruise, we’d spent every night together, switching back and forth between our apartments every few days.

Evan had kept his promise and had taken me on plenty of hiking dates, even borrowing Nolan and Harper’s puppy a few times to keep us company and give him some exercise. He’d also introduced me to his sister and mom over FaceTime, and I’d immediately loved both of them. From the first time we met, they treated me as if I were part of their family. I’d never felt like I belonged as much as I did with Evan.

I’d also started to become good friends with Nolan’s fiancé, Harper. She’d been helping me work through my leftover guilt and defensiveness, and I’d noticed that my inclination to argue with other people was starting to decline. Evan had noticed as well, of course, and was still using positive reinforcement to reward me.

Evan and his team had served their warrants on Paradise Cruises and were still putting their case together, but he’d said they were almost ready to make arrests. I was looking forward to that, and to our future, once their company had been taken down for good.
