Chosen Wolf (The Marked Wolf #2)(36)
Author: Jen L. Grey

“You all do seem like you can take care of yourselves, especially those three.” She pointed to Aidan, Logan, and Remus.

Yeah, those three dudes were kind of scary, especially when standing next to each other. “Thank you.”

“Is there anything else you need?” She smiled, uneasily.

Humans weren’t comfortable around us, even if they were drawn to us. It was a weird supernatural thing.

“Nope, we’re good.” Amethyst gave her a comforting smile.

“Okay. Breakfast will be ready at eight, so if you don’t want to miss out, don’t be late.” She nodded and hurried off, glancing behind at us one more time.

“Well, that wasn’t awkward or anything.” Beth shifted her weight to one leg. “So we have five rooms. How are we pairing off?”

“Really? You’re actually asking?” Gabby grinned. “If so, dibs on Logan.”

The past day, they’d been whispering in the backseat and getting closer. I wasn’t surprised she’d been so forward this time.

Logan’s eyes widened, though. “Uh … yeah.” Then his mouth stretched into a smirk.

“Well, it’s obvious Ivory and I are staying together.” Remus brushed Ivory’s face with his fingertips.

“Okay, I get all the mates are paired up.” Beth placed a hand on her hip. “I was talking more about me and the witches.”

“I’m not sleeping with you.” Coral shook her head. “You kept me up last night.”

“Hey, she’s kept me up plenty too,” Samuel huffed.

“Dear Goddess, I’ll stay with her.” Amethyst reached into her purse and pulled out a set of earplugs. “I got these yesterday at Walmart. I figured you guys would force me to sleep with her soon enough.”

“Hey, wait.” Coral scowled. “There weren’t any earplugs there. I looked.”

Amethyst grinned. “Because I got to them first.”

I rarely saw Amethyst’s playful side. She was usually so considerate and busy worrying about everyone else. I liked it.

“Okay, it’s solved.” Aidan tugged me to the back right bedroom. “We’ll take this one here. It should look out over the mountains, so we’ll keep an eye out.”

“We’ll leave it up to you eight on how to separate the remaining rooms.” It felt like forever since I’d had alone time with Aidan. Last night, we’d shared a room with Remus and Ivory. It had been nice and given us a chance to talk face to face, unlike in the Suburban. Granted, we’d all been worn out from a full day of travel.

Aidan and I hurried into the room, and right before the door closed, I heard Coral chuckle. “I wonder what they are hurrying off to do.”

Thank God we were already in our room or I’d have died of embarrassment.

I spun around and checked out our room. The room’s exterior wall was one large window, and an all-glass door right in front of the bed took us out to our own private table area were we could enjoy the views. A side trail headed down the side of the mountain and connected to the trails.

A large bed with a white comforter sat right in the center. The twinkling lights outside from the patio made the room whimsical and romantic.

“Wow, this is gorgeous.” I’d never quite seen a small town like this before.

“Yeah, I’d have to agree.” Aidan placed our luggage on the ground and turned toward me. “This would be a great place for a pack. The climate isn’t too extreme, even in the winter.”

“But it’s not home.” Even if it was pretty here, Mount Juliet would always and forever be my home.

“Now that’s a true statement” He pulled me into his arms. “And soon, after all this is over, we’ll return to lead both the Murphy and Rogers packs.”

“That sounds so far-fetched.” However, that was the only way we could return.

“Nope. For both witches and shifters to believe it, it has to be true, and we’re going to win.” He lowered his head, and his lips touched mine.

I responded to his kiss, desperate for more. I had to believe he was right, or what was the point?

Even though I wanted to focus only on us, I pulled back. “Why do you think the wolves are getting antsy?”

“I’m sure it has to do with the girl we’re looking for.” Aidan frowned. “It seems like wherever we go, the girls are in some sort of trouble.”

“Technically, Ivory wasn’t.” She’d been with a coven that was hiding her.

“Those wolves were determined to get her.” His arms squeezed my waist. “Now they know about us, and I guarantee the various Hallowed Guild packs are touching base and preparing for something.”

“I’m hoping we don’t have to go to war.” I wasn’t sure we’d survive it. “We just need to get the girls back to Columbus before they find us.” Things were becoming serious and fast.

“You’re right, but tonight, we need to rest and go with clear heads tomorrow to hunt her.” He cupped my face.

I heard the other doors shut in succession; everyone was in their rooms, settling in for the night.

He linked with me. Can we not worry about it all and just focus on each other? His golden eyes glowed, alerting me that his wolf was taking partial control.

My body warmed at the promise of his words. Maybe. I pretended to put up a fight, even though I had no plans on following through.

Well, then let me be more persuasive. He lowered his mouth and brushed his tongue against my lips.

I opened my mouth, enjoying his minty taste. I doubted I’d ever get tired of it.

Desperate need coursed through me as the buzzing of our bond made my head dizzy. I reached down, grabbed the hem of his shirt, and yanked it over his head.

He must have been feeling the same way as me, because he removed my shirt and pulled me against his naked chest.

The feel of his skin against mine warmed me even more.

His fingers worked on the clasp of my bra, and soon, he peeled it from my body. His calloused hands cupped my breast as I walked backward to the bed. My hands went to the buttons of his jeans and undid them. Then I pushed his jeans and boxers down.

Dammit, hold on. He pulled away, chuckling as he kicked off his shoes and his clothing to the ground.

My eyes took in every inch of his hard, gorgeous body.

He pushed me to the bed, yanked my shoes off, and tossed them across the room. In the next second, his lips were on my stomach and kissing lower as he worked on my pants. His teeth gently scraped against my skin, and a moan escaped me.

A low growl vibrated through him. These are in the way. He slid my panties and pants off, and then his lips crashed against mine.

Needing him desperately, I reached down and touched him.

Dear God. He moaned in my head.

His hands slipped down and began rubbing, causing friction in the right spot. It didn’t take long before I was coming too damn close.

I pushed him off me and turned over on the bed so I was on my hands and knees. I wanted us to do something different from the other times.

Are you sure? He climbed on the bed and positioned himself right against my ass.

Yes, please.

He thrust inside me, hitting deeper than ever before. I rocked back against him as we increased our pace. He wrapped his fingers around my waist as he slammed into me time and time again.
