Not A Player(14)
Author: R.C. Stephens

“Me too,” she admits.

The doors open and we enter the elevator and she’s pulling away from me again. I can’t have it. “Do you want to come back to my room?” I ask. I want to have sex super bad, but I don’t know if it’s too soon. I just know I want my first time to be with Lili and also, I don’t know if maybe she is thinking sex because it’s a normal thing for people our age to be thinking about. If I don’t invite her back to my room, she may think I don’t want her, and I’ll lose her.

She bites her lip. “I’d like that, but can it be later on? I kind of feel bad for leaving Alessa for so long,” she says, and I try not to show it, but I blow out a breath.

“Yeah, sure. I’d like that.”

Lili giggles.

“What’s so funny?” I ask.

Her brows furrow and her lips tilt in a way that would tell me she finds something strange or maybe ironic. “You’ve just been so unexpected, Logan. You’re different from other guys I’ve met.”

“In a good way, I hope.” I’m having a lot of firsts on this vacation, and I need to have the reassurance what I’m doing is right.

“I don’t know if I should answer that. We’re supposed to be keeping things simple,” she says, and we arrive on our floor. Lili winks at me and then she leaves the elevator. I watch her go with her cute little backpack over her shoulder, and then my eyes drop to her fine ass. The elevator doors begin to close, and I put my hand out to stop it. I blink and give myself a mental shake.

She keeps me guessing, that one. I head back to my room and take a quick cold shower because I’m hot from the sun but also from Lili. I get myself off and then wash my body with soap. All the while I’m thinking Lili and I are going to have sex very soon. It’s inevitable.

“Put that computer away,” I say to Alessa, who is so distracted by her work, she hasn’t looked up to even notice my arrival. In her large sunhat and dark sunglasses sitting in this cabana for two she is secluded from everyone around her.

“Oh.” She jumps. “How was your hike?”

“It was nice. We got back half an hour ago. I took a cold shower and changed,” I share. I remove the wrap I’m wearing and Alessa’s dark eyes bug out.

“I thought you said that bikini was too sexy,” she says.

“It is, but I. . .”

Her eyes widen. “Did something happen on the hike?” she asks and closes her laptop and lays it on the lounge chair in front of her.

I bite my lip. “Kind of. . .”

“Start talking,” she orders, crossing her legs and giving me her full attention.

“We fully made out in the middle of the trail. There was this fenced-off area that had the perfect view of the beach and we were under a tree, and it was. . .” I bite my lip again.

“Shit, that sounds hot,” Alessa says, fanning herself dramatically.

“It was and he’s so nice, Alessa. Like I don’t understand it. He isn’t like anyone I’ve ever met before.”

“And that’s a bad thing?” she asks.

“You know it is. This is a vacation fling. It isn’t going anywhere,” I remind her.

“So, enjoy it while it lasts. In a few days you part ways and never see him again,” she says.

“He invited me to his room,” I say, scrunching my face.

“Lucky you. He’s hotter than hell. Looks like you’re going to have some fun.” Alessa laughs easily.

“Yeah, I mean, I need to have fun after everything I’ve been through, right?” I ask, and I take a seat and lie back on the lounger beside her.

“Is that even a question? Of course, you need to have some fun. You need to wipe Tristan from your memory bank, and Logan is the perfect guy for the job,” she declares.

“He’s an athlete. I told him not to tell me what sport he plays,” I confess.

“With a body like that, I’m not surprised,” she says. “Check him out.” She tilts her chin to the right and I spot all of Logan’s friends hanging out together. They have a row of lounge chairs with huge umbrellas, and Logan and another guy are playing soccer with one of the bigger kids. I do check Logan out. He’s tall and built. He’s shirtless now and he literally has an eight-pack, and his skin is sun-kissed. My mouth waters as I allow myself to think of what sex with him would be like.

“And he’s good with kids,” Alessa says, as if I didn’t notice.

“None of that matters. I’m just glad he isn’t a serial killer,” I joke because I need to lighten the mood. Logan is clearly the whole package, but I’m not in a place for it to matter. I’m starting a new school and need to focus on getting good grades. I also managed to get a job at my new college so it will help with my tuition fees. I’m not getting myself locked down in a long-distance relationship, and with a jock no less.

“Right,” Alessa snickers.

“Come, let’s go for a swim,” I say to Alessa. “You really need to stop working so hard. This is a vacation.”

She stuffs her laptop into her backpack and places it under her lounge chair and then we make our way to the beach.

We pass Logan and I wave. He waves back as we enter the water. “Don’t look, mija, but he was totally checking you out,” Alessa says to me.

I don’t look his way. “I guess this bathing suit was a smart choice then,” I declare. Truth is, before what happened with Tristan, I would never wear something so revealing. I would never have had a random hookup on vacation, but he left me questioning everything about myself and clearly, I have bad judgment.

We enter the water a little deeper. “I just hope this thing doesn’t fall off.” I adjust the top, which is shifting a little from the waves. It’s one of those triangle bikini tops with a Brazilian cut bottom. I have an ample chest, so it isn’t contained very well.

“Right. Well, he’s coming over now. So, play it cool,” Alessa whispers.

I pretend like we are talking about something that happened two years ago when we were in Mexico.

“Hi, ladies.” Logan’s voice sends a shiver through me.

“Hi.”

“Hi.” Alessa waves.

“I was just talking to my brother, and he said you two should totally come to the wedding. It’s going to be here on the beach tomorrow evening, and then we are going to be having our own luau. There’ll be dancing and awesome food. It’ll be a good time,” he says, looking between Alessa and me. In the water his eyes look more icy-blue than gray. He is gorgeous.

“I did want to book us in for the hotel luau tomorrow,” Alessa says.

“Then you should join ours. We are going to be on a secluded section of the hotel and it will be a blast,” he says.

I look over at Alessa. Going to his brother’s wedding feels personal.

“Relax,” Logan says watching me. “This is just a good time.”

I look back to Alessa and she shrugs. My sister clearly wants to go.

“Sure. Why not. I don’t think I have wedding attire with me though,” I say.

“Any type of dress will do. It’s a casual wedding. My brother and Poppy aren’t into fancy stuff,” he assures.
