Winter

“Now’s the time to tell me to stop,” he panted. That was the last thing she wanted to do. She had been waiting for him to do exactly this to her—with her, for so long now but she always let fear stop her. She worried that crossing the line that they were about to step over would forever change their friendship and Winter couldn’t live without Chris in her life. He was a part of her—the person she could always count on no matter what and losing him because she couldn’t keep her roaming hands to herself felt wrong—just not wrong enough to have her telling him to stop.

“I want this, Chris,” she agreed. “I want you. I have for a long time but I’m afraid.”

“Of me?” he asked.

“No, never you,” she said. “Of losing you. Of this thing not working out between us and having to watch you walk out of my life forever. Of not being enough for you.” That last part was what scared her the most.

“Because I like to be with men too?” he questioned. He wasn’t asking her if it was the truth, he already seemed to know it. Chris dropped his hands from her body and she instantly regretted her words. “I get that, Winter but you know me—I’d never do anything that would hurt you,” he promised.

“I believe you, Chris. But, would I be hurting you by wanting to keep you locked down in a relationship with just me? I’ll never fill the void you will have in your life—you’ll be living half a lie and that’s not fair to either of us,” she whispered. Winter chanced his rejection and reached for his hand, taking it into her own. Chris seemed so unsure of himself, which was so unlike him. Her best friend was confident and some would even say—downright cocky. Now, just the two of them, he was at a loss for words, and Winter couldn’t remember the last time she saw him that way.

Chris finally dared a look at her and smirked, giving her a glimpse of the boy she used to know. “How about if I knew of a way we could have everything—together?” he asked.

Winter had a feeling that she knew where he was going with this but she didn’t want to outright tell him no without hearing him out. Luke’s name was the first word from his lips, telling her that she had guessed correctly.

“What about Luke?” she asked.

“You dated him in high school—did you like him?” Chris asked.

Winter shrugged and nodded, “We went out to the movies and stuff. We even went to a few dances together.” She conveniently left out the part about Luke being the first boy that she made out with or the first boy that she let touch her pussy. No, that wasn’t something that Chris needed to hear right now.

“You liked him?” he questioned.

Winter nodded again, “I told you the other day that I did, Chris. We’ve already had this conversation. I know you’ve invited Luke to our party hoping to reconnect and I’m happy for you—really but I won’t be a side piece,” she insisted. “I won’t be the little woman sitting at home wondering if you will be sleeping in my bed or Luke’s every night. That’s not who I am, Chris—I won’t share you. You either want me or you don’t.”

“I want you,” Chris whispered and squeezed her hand but made no move towards her. “But, what if we don’t have to live that life? What if you don’t have to worry about which bed I’m sleeping in because I’ll be in bed with you both?” Winter’s gasp filled the kitchen and she pulled her hand free from his.

“Like a threesome?” she whispered. He shrugged and his smile said it all, he wanted both Luke and her and he had some crazy idea that three personalities could mesh into one happy relationship. His idea was completely crazy. “You can’t be serious,” she insisted. “How would that even work?”

Chris’s gaze heated and he pulled her back against his body, his lips just a few inches from her own. “We’d find a way,” he insisted. “I’m not sure how this will work or if this is even a good idea but I’m turning thirty in a few days and I’m done going through the motions. I told you—I’m done fighting my feelings for you and well, Luke now too. I want you both and I know that you both have a past. You think that Luke didn’t brag to me about what you two did at the movies or after dances on your parent’s sofa after they went up to bed?”

Winter gasped again and this time, Chris used her response as his chance to kiss his way into her mouth and God, he tasted good. Kissing Chris felt right and she wondered if anyone would ever measure up to the way he was making her feel. He licked his way into her mouth to find her tongue and she moaned into his, shamelessly rubbing herself up against his body. She was so ready for whatever he wanted to do with her next. It had been a damn long time since a man kissed or touched her the way Chris was.

He broke their kiss and this time; he didn’t ask her if she wanted him to stop. She would have told him no anyway. Chris lifted her into his arms as if she weighed nothing and carried her back to her small bedroom and let her slowly slide down his body and onto her bed.

“Tell me you’ll try, Winter,” Chris begged.

“Try?” she asked, her muddled brain trying to keep up through the sex haze she was lost in.

“With Luke,” he whispered. “Tell me that you’ll give the three of us a shot if he’s game,” Chris said. Winter hesitated, worried that she wouldn’t be able to share Chris with Luke. What if she agreed and seeing the two of them together was just too much? What if she and Luke didn’t have the same connection as she and Chris did? Would sharing Chris between them be enough for her? But not trying would always leave her wondering “what if” and that was something she couldn’t afford to chance.

“I’ll try,” she whispered. Chris smiled down at her and she thought he was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. She always felt that way about him but having him standing over her now, looking down at her like she was the sexiest woman in the world, made her feel things she hadn’t in so long.

Chris started to strip out of his suit and her mouth watered to taste him. She knew what he looked like out of his stuffy office attire. When they hung out on weekends, watching movies on her sofa, he usually dressed in gym shorts and a t-shirt that hugged all his muscles. Winter knew that he worked out and was in fantastic shape but watching him undress for her was like waiting to see what was inside the box under all the red and green wrapping paper on Christmas morning.

She propped herself up on her elbows to better enjoy the show and she could tell that Chris didn’t mind giving her one. He unbuttoned his dress shirt and pulled it down his arms and she nearly swallowed her tongue. All Winter could think about doing was running her hands over his chiseled pecks. When Chris unzipped his fly, her attention dropped to his pants and she bit her bottom lip into her mouth to keep from panting with anticipation over finally seeing him completely naked.

“Fuck, Baby,” he crooned. “You keep looking at me like that and I’m going to come in my damn pants.” Winter giggled and sat up on the edge of the bed, pulling his hands free from his dress pants.

“Let me help you then,” she said. His cock was just about lip level and if he’d allow it, she wanted to taste him before he got her naked.
