Desecrated Essence (Desecrated Duet, #2)(27)
Author: C.A. Rene

His mouth inches in closer to mine and I feel the brush of his lips. The warmth of his body penetrates my skin as he crowds mine, our torsos meet, and our thighs touch.

“Don’t let this change how much you hate me.” Every movement of his lips are like a dance against mine.

I dart my tongue out to wet my lower lip and it comes in contact with his. The groan that leaves his mouth is raw and guttural, his fingers clench into my cheeks.

“What have I done?” I whisper and take a ragged breath.

“You’ve just proven how tough you can be.”

Then his hands leave my face and he backs up, stealing the warmth he was giving. Brody looks down at my father and shakes his head.

“That’s going to be a bitch to clean.” He mumbles more to himself than to me. “I can’t call Cooper out here for this one.”

“Cooper?” What the hell is he talking about?

“Yeah, Cooper is the expert at making murders look like accidents and making crime scenes disappear.” He shrugs and a smirk flashes on his mouth. “What? He didn’t tell you?”

Crime scene, oh god, I made my papa into a crime scene. My hand flies to my mouth and I try to stifle the groan.

“I’ll leave you two alone, I bet you have a farewell you need to say.” He begins to back up towards the door.

“Do not leave me in here with him.” I look up at him.

“It’s your papa.” He raises a brow, clearly thinking this is a game in his demented mind. “I guess that’s wrong,” his fingers scratch at his chin. “He’s not Papa anymore, now he’s just… dead.”

“If you leave me in here, I will pull that knife from his throat and shove it in yours the second you return.” I snarl, feeling overwhelming anger for the boy who feels nothing.

He bites into his plump lower lip and grins. “Was that supposed to be intimidating?” I watch as his hand cups around a pronounced lump in his pants. “Because fuck, I think I like it.”

 “Brody!”

“Fine, shit. Just stop fucking complaining, it’s giving me a headache.” He taps his temple, “and he hates a headache.”

He? Who the fuck is he talking about? I don’t waste any time asking and hurry behind him as he leaves the room. Brody walks like time doesn’t pass him by. His steps are unhurried and his swagger is pronounced in his hips and shoulders. He looks completely at ease for someone who was almost stabbed and witnessed a murder. Too at ease.

“Did you plan that?” I ask him. No reaction. “Did you set that up to happen? Did you want me to kill him?”

He stops and opens another door, I know this room because its double doors will forever be ingrained in my mind, this is Brody’s parents’ room.

“It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but the outcome was still the same, the piece of shit is dead and you avenged your mother.” Cold words spoken without an ounce of warmth.

“How did you find out Brody? Did you know it was Lance and Justin before I told you?”

He leads me into the room and shuts the door. I notice this one can’t be locked by a key and again I feel sorrow for the little boy he was.

“When you told me that night, that they killed Sara and raped you, that was the first I heard of both instances.” He’s quiet, thoughtful. “I did my research, starting with whatever my father had on yours, then lo and behold I did indeed find the pictures my brother took to verify his kill.”

My breath gets lodged in my throat as he describes my mama as just another hit. No emotions for the woman who treated him like he was her own.

“And them raping me?” I ask quietly, hoping I will see even an iota of sympathy in his eyes.

“I’m still trying to work that out, I don’t know what to believe with that. I will admit you did show signs of post trauma but then you started playing leapfrog on all my boys’ dicks. Doesn’t make sense.” He shakes his head and I stare at him with my mouth agape.

“I love them.” I say in what feels like a shameful confession.

“All three of them? Even Zeke?” His brow is still raised.

“I love Cooper, Caine, and Oliver. I don’t know how I feel about Zeke at the moment.”

“Zeke believes you were raped by them.” He nods. “But Zeke will always choose me over any other person.”

“Why?” I ask in confusion. I look down at my hands, still covered in blood.

“Because I saved him from certain death sophomore year.”

Am I really telling her all of this? Why?

“What do you mean?” She asks as she steps closer.

Her hands are still slick with her father’s drying blood, it’s all over her face and in the thick waves of her hair. I want to lick it off every inch of her face and see if it tastes as good as she does.

 “Brody?”

“Go wash up, I can’t concentrate when you’re full of blood.” I tell her. “My mother’s closet is there, grab some clothes.”

She looks back down to her hands again and I watch as her face slowly begins to tremble. “His blood for hers, right?”

“Oui.” I nod and clear my throat. “Yeah.”

She lifts the blood splattered white shirt over her head and drops it on the white carpet. Kailey-Himari Richard was always beautiful, that will never change but right now, standing in front of me, covered in blood and looking savage, she’s breathtaking.

Her breasts are a perfect handful, pert and perky. Her stomach is toned and narrow. Her legs long and her ass is almost too big for her figure… almost. She turns on her heel and walks into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. A few seconds later, I hear the shower turn on and I exhale my bated breath. I can’t waver for this girl, I need to remember what she did to me and what she did to us.

I storm out of the room, my anger renewed and stalk into mine. Her piece of shit father is making a fucking mess with his blood seeping into my fucking wood. I pry my hunting knife out of his cold stiff hand and then pull out the switchblade lodged in his neck.

With the knife free, I watch as his thickening blood oozes out and splatters to the floor. This man was someone I used to look up to, a father figure I could rely on, and an extension of the family I saw in the girl that stole my heart then kept it.

I was always enamored by Kailey but once I was old enough to understand that adults marry and raise families, I deemed her my person. I basically wrapped up my broken, defective heart and placed it in her safe keeping. All these years I've been without it and as cold as I am, I knew she still kept my only warmth safe.

I just can't forgive her for leaving me in a world where she was my only saving grace. Worst part was that she knew it, she knew my home life was tumultuous, she knew I was suffering at school, and she knew her house was my refuge. Then, she took it all away with no explanation and no remorse.

The months after leading into years, I became more and more bitter, and every time I saw her face, I wanted to watch her suffer. Then Zeke almost died and his road to despising Kailey began.
