“What if I’m a terrible mother?” I look away.
“Impossible.” He shakes his head. “Hey, look at me.” He brushes the hair from my face. “Look how amazing you are with Kiely. And you raised your sister. Look how she turned out.” He smirks. “How could you possibly think you’d be a bad mother?”
“You’re right. I’m still in shock and a little nervous.”
“I have to tell you something.”
“Uh oh. Not another surprise.”
“This one’s good.” He hesitates. “So the other night, when I was tucking Kiely in, she asked me a question.”
“Okay.”
“She wanted to know if you could be her mother.”
“She did?” My eyes grow wide. “What did you say?”
“Don’t be mad.” He bites his bottom lip. “You don’t have to feel obligated, but I already started the paperwork. In case you say yes. We were gonna to ask you tonight at dinner.”
“Jace.” I pull back and stroke his cheek, tears shimmering in my eyes again. I’m so emotional. This is going to be a fun pregnancy. “Of course, it’s a yes. It would be an honor to be her mom. If that’s okay with you?”
“It’s what I want. It’s what we both want. You’ve changed our lives so much for the better.”
“What a crazy day, huh?” I scoff.
“The best of many to come.” He promises with a kiss. “You’re so beautiful. I can’t wait to see you swollen with our child.”
“I love you, Jace.” He’s it for me from the way my heart thuds in my chest whenever I’m around him.
“We should try out the bed in the back,” he says with a sexy gleam in his dark eyes before our mouths crash together again.
Desire immediately courses through my veins as I become lost in the kiss. My nipples pucker into tight buds. Soon we’re making out like a couple of teenagers, my panties already damp with my desire. Deepening the kiss, our tongues swirl as Jace’s fingers skim over my aching breasts. I groan into his mouth when he rocks his straining cock against my pelvis.
“Mmm, Jace.” I ease out of his hold before I get any more turned on. “We need to pick up your daughter on time.”
“Our daughter,” he mutters.
“Our daughter,” I murmur. “We can’t be late picking up Kiely from school. We have an appointment for her flower girl dress fitting.”
“Grr,” he growls.
“There'll be plenty of time tonight, lover boy.” I press my finger to his lips. “Hold that kiss until later.”
“Promise?”
“Always. I have plans for you tonight.”
“I like the sound of that.” He gently lifts me off his lap.
“You locked the door! Come on!” Lilly wraps on the RV door. “You guys are like freaking rabbits.”
Both our mouths lift into a smile. “We better go before she blows a gasket.” I rise from my seat, extending my hand.
“Lead the way, baby. I’ll follow you anywhere.”
I search his eyes, knowing he means it. I love this amazing man with the square jaw, and killer smile. I love the way his brown eyes sparkle when I enter the room. I love watching him be a father to Kiely, and I can’t wait to have this baby with him.
This man will always fight for me. For us. For our family. This quiet, sexy, rugged man makes me happy, and I’m positive he always will. Jace is my happiness.
Growing up, I always wanted to race. I thought it was my purpose in life, my dream. And it was for a long time. But Jace has shown me there is so much more to live for.
I’m the luckiest girl in the world, and I couldn’t ask for a better man. I’ve never been happier in my life than I am now, and there’s so much more to come.
