Clay (Lighthouse Security Investigations #7)(34)
Author: Maryann Jordan

“Now,” she begged.

Laughing, he asked, “Is that the only word you can say?”

Looking over her shoulder, she glared. “If you don’t get on with it, the only word I’ll say is goodbye!”

Palm on her ass, he tapped it lightly. “Don’t threaten to leave, babe, before I have a chance to worship this body.”

“At the risk of being mocked again, please… I need you now.”

Leaning his body over her back, he slid a finger deep inside her core, moving it in rhythm as he tugged on first one nipple and then the other. He could feel her body shiver, and soon she cried out as her orgasm rocked through her. Holding her tightly until her body eased, he slid his hand up to his mouth, licking her juices off his finger. Standing, he noticed her delectable body was at the perfect height and angle. His hands almost shaking, he rolled the condom onto his eager cock, settled his large hands on her hips, lined his cock up to her entrance, and thrust forward.

She gasped, bolting forward slightly, her fingers grabbing tightly onto the back of the sofa. He stopped, filled with concern. “Was that too much? Are you okay?”

“Yes!” she rasped. “Keep going.”

Rocking back and forth, his gaze drifted down the perfect line of her spine, the way her waist curved in before flaring out to her hips. Her ass filled his hands, and he felt her press backward as though seeking more contact. Bending his front over her back, his hands slid up to her breasts, tweaking her nipples once again.

She lifted her head, and he pressed his cheek against hers. They turned toward each other at the same time, their lips meeting. He kissed along her jaw, shifted her hair over her shoulder, and trailed his lips along her soft skin. Her breathing hitched, and he recognized she was close. Grabbing her hips again, he increased his rhythm, plunging deeply until she flung her head back, crying out his name. He allowed her inner core to milk his cock until finally, the fire rolled through him, his fingers dug into her flesh, and through gritted teeth, he roared out his own release.

After the last drop left his body, he gasped in a ragged breath, falling forward so that he was curved over her back. His legs felt weak, and he could not remember ever having an orgasm that rocked him so deeply. Awareness slowly crept over him as his cock slid from her warmth. He eased the grip on her hips, now fearful that her tender flesh would bear bruises.

He reached for her shoulders, turning her gently toward him, then pulling her body tightly flush against his. “Holy shit, babe, that was intense.”

She shifted slightly, peering up at him, a smile curving her lips. He leaned over and pressed his mouth to hers, the kiss full of meaning and promises.

The room had grown darker, and Clay winced. “I was going to feed you as soon as you got here but jumped you instead.”

Her laughter was musical as she smiled, her eyes twinkling. “I believe it was me who kept demanding ‘now.’”

“You’re right! That was you who was climbing all over me.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

Her top teeth landed on her bottom lip, her breath rushing from her lungs. “Well, I was hungry, but not for food.”

“And now?”

Laughing again, she nodded. “Yes, now, I’m hungry for food!”

They rolled from the sofa and stood. He headed into the bathroom and took care of the condom. By the time he walked back into the room, she had slipped on her bra and panties and was just zipping her jeans. He kissed her quickly, then pulled on his boxers and jeans as she settled her shirt over her breasts. He snatched his shirt from the floor but only fastened the bottom buttons. Linking fingers, he led her into the kitchen, assisting her onto one of his stools.

He pulled the chops from the oven and dumped a store-bought salad into a bowl. Warm, buttered, garlic toast and glasses of wine were placed on the table. After the fun of the canoe trip and the incredible sex, he knew he needed to find out about her trip. Unable to figure out how to bring the conversation around, he simply blurted, “How was your trip to Ottawa? I know we talked on the phone, but I’d love to hear more about it.”

Scrunching her nose, she said, “It was okay. I was going to say that it was like all the other festivals we’ve played at, but all I could think of was wanting you to be there with me.”

“Really?”

“Since I had experienced the festival with you, I walked around outside the entertainment tent. I got something to eat from the food trucks and looked at the vendors. It was really nice, but I would’ve much preferred you’d have been there with me.”

“And the band?”

Shaking her head, she rolled her eyes. “About the same as always. Dunk was being his usual self, and I was certain he was going to get arrested in the airport. Steven was weird.”

“Weird?” The idea that subterfuge was easier with someone he wasn’t in a relationship with hit him. Keeping his face blank, he lifted his brows while attempting to adopt a casual interest.

She scrunched her nose. “Yeah. Usually, he gets us to a venue, then plops down, easy as can be until it’s time for us to set up. He left and ended up in some random tent with a bunch of scary-looking bikers!”

“Wow, what was he doing?”

“Who knows? I was peeved… well, at first, I was curious. I started to go to him—”

“What were you thinking?” he bit out.

Her head jerked back slightly at his harsh tone. “Uh… I wanted to see what he was up to.”

“And you were going to walk straight into a den of bikers?”

Huffing, she argued, “Well, Steven was there… I didn’t think it was dangerous—”

“It doesn’t sound like you were thinking!”

“Clay, you weren’t there! You can’t possibly know what I was doing. It was daylight. A lot of people were around. I wasn’t waltzing into the lion’s den, I was just going to call to Steven to see what he was doing.” Pinching her lips, she continued, “But it didn’t matter anyway. Some jerk ran into me and spilled my water all over the place. My skirt, legs, and boots were soaked.”

Clay’s stomach clenched, and he hated the way their voices rose with each statement. Forcing his breathing to steady, he watched her carefully, noticing that she was irritated but not screaming obscenities or hurling accusations. I’m not my parents… it’s possible to not agree but not devolve into a raging maniac. Holding her gaze, he watched as her face softened, the tight lines diminishing.

Unable to stop himself, he blurted, “You were beautiful.”

She blinked, her head tilting slightly to the side. “Were?”

“No… uh… no, I said ‘are’. You are beautiful.” He held his breath for a second, then his heart lightened as a smile curved her lips and a blush tinged her cheeks.

“I’m sorry that I lost my temper,” she admitted, sighing softly. “You’re right. Walking toward those guys wasn’t very smart. I have no idea what Steven was doing, but it’s not my job to babysit the band.” She leaned toward him and offered her mouth, a gift he was never going to refuse. The meal was forgotten for a moment as they kissed. Finally, pulling back, he stared into her hooded eyes and kiss-puffed lips. “Eat up, babe. We’ve got the whole weekend for kissing.”
