Lyrics on the Wind (Lost Kings MC, #17)(98)
Author: Autumn Jones Lake

I yelp and grab for the sheet, not trusting that Jiggy went for a walk.

“He’s an asshole but he knows I’ll slice out his eyes if he tries lookin’ at you,” Rooster assures me. Even so, he pulls the sheet up and over both of us, creating a grown-up blanket fort of privacy.

“Give me a second.” As much as I want to make him feel good too, I’m a little out of sorts.

It’s so dark I can barely make out his outline. There’s a soft, wet popping sound and a second later, Rooster shoves his hand between my thighs, stopping to swirl his finger around my clit. “Oh,” I moan and throw my head back. “That helps. That helps a lot.”

The familiar fiery sensation returns, singing through my blood. I slowly rock my hips back and forth.

“That’s good. Perfect. Just like that,” Rooster groans, slipping into a sensual groove again. “Keep going. Yes. Harder.”

Since we’re hopefully alone now, I ignore all the little squeaks and noises the bed makes. Rooster clamps down on my hips, thrusting up so hard, I lose my balance and brace myself against his chest.

Breathing fast and harsh, he lets out a primal groan of pure male satisfaction. I fall against his sweaty chest, molding myself to his body. He wraps strong arms around me, binding us together. One of his big hands palms my ass, squeezing. I turn my head, kissing and sucking the sensitive spot below his ear. He groans even louder into my hair as his orgasm thoroughly sweeps him under.

“Come here.” He rolls to the side and leans closer to kiss my forehead. We’re both breathing hard, sweaty foreheads pressed together, free hands softly traveling over each other. “Thank you.”

“That’s my boy!” Jigsaw cheers from outside. A loud round of clapping follows.

I burst out laughing, drawing away.

“That’s it,” Rooster growls. “He’s dead.”

Laughing even harder, I slide down the mattress, covering my face with the sheet. The bed shifts as Rooster stands. I poke my head out and slide my gaze over his body. The weak moonlight from the window highlights every marvelous line and angle as he jerks a pair of shorts over his hips.

“Damn, you’re a gorgeous man, Logan,” I whisper.

His severe expression softens and his shoulders drop. He leans over and kisses my cheek. “I’ll be right back.”

I grab his arm. “Don’t go. Stay here with me.”

A moment of indecision flashes across his face but then he climbs into bed, holding out his arm so I can snuggle up against him.

He tucks his other arm behind his head and peers down at me. “Sorry I woke you,” he says in that charmingly cocky way that doesn’t hold a note of regret.

“No you’re not.”

“I couldn’t help it. One minute, I was dreaming about you. The next I was awake and your hot, soft little body was curled next to me.” He squeezes his eyes shut and smiles. “I needed to taste you.”

“I’m not complaining. You can wake me up for that anytime you want.”

“Not gonna lie.” He reaches underneath the sheet. “I panicked for a second there. Thought my balls were going to explode when Jiggy interrupted my flow.”

I snort-giggle against his side.

“You saved me from a deadly case of blue balls, chickadee.” He tickles his fingers over my ribs and I laugh even harder.

“Anytime.” I trace my finger over his bottom lip. “Feel free to wiggle that wicked tongue around my clit whenever you want.”

He sucks my finger into his mouth and stares into my eyes.

“Careful, I’ll take you up on that.” He kisses my fingertips and curls his hand around mine. We’re quiet for a few minutes.

“Should we tell Jiggy it’s safe to return?” I ask.

“No. He can sleep outside tonight.”

Chapter Fifty-Five

Rooster

What a night.

I glance over at Shelby.

Still asleep.

We don’t have to leave for a few hours so I’m not waking her. Already interrupted her sleep enough last night.

As I pad through the darkened RV, my gaze lands on Jiggy’s sleeping form, prone on his mattress. My foot twitches with the urge to kick him awake just for the hell of it.

I slip my phone in my pocket and go outside to check on a few things instead.

Maybe twenty minutes into tidying up the inside of the truck, my phone buzzes.

Lynn.

Great, what does Shelby’s mom want to bust my balls about now?

“Morning, Lynn,” I answer. “You’re up early.”

“Logan, I need to talk to you.” The anxiety rattling in her voice can’t be missed.

Pulling myself out of the truck cab, I stand and pace a few steps away. “What’s wrong?”

“Where’s Shelby? Is she okay?”

‘I fucked your daughter into oblivion and she’s still unconscious’ probably isn’t what a mother wants to hear. “She’s sleeping. What’s going on?”

“Where are you?”

“I’m outside. Why? What’s the matter?”

In the background, there’s a rattling sound and her voice is barely above a whisper when she finally responds. “That monster…Martin Suggs…sent me a letter.”

Molten rage explodes in my chest. “What?” I snap. “When?”

“It must have come yesterday but I didn’t open it until now.”

“Did you read it?”

“Y-yes,” she answers in a shaky voice. “Logan, I’m really scared. This man, he’s...crazier than an outhouse rat.”

“No lie,” I grumble. After the shit we did to him—Jigsaw cut off one of the man’s fingers for fuck’s sake—you’d think he’d work harder to scrub Shelby from his twisted brain. “Don’t throw the letter away.”

“I didn’t. It’s here.”

“Can you read it to me?”

“Jesus, Logan. I don’t know if I want to look at it again…oh my.”

I feel like shit for making her do this, but I need to know what I’m dealing with. I should’ve ended Suggs when I had the chance.

“Okay. Ready? ‘Dear Mrs. Morgan. I can’t reach Shelby, so I am reaching out to you. By now, I assume you are aware of my relationship with your daughter. During the time we spent together, I observed some issues that I must discuss with you.

Number one, you have raised a wanton and disrespectful young lady. You should have been much more concerned with what sort of messages you exposed her to during her formative years. She is headstrong and willing to cavort with men beneath her and is utterly unrepentant. This is a direct result of your lax parenting. You seem to approve of this appalling behavior.’”

“Holy fuck,” I breathe out.

“There’s more,” she says.

I squeeze my eyes shut and press the spot between my eyes where a headache’s forming. “Go on.”

“‘When Shelby and I are finally reunited, you will submit to me and be disciplined in order to better serve your daughter’s needs. This is not negotiable. I am older than you. My knowledge is superior in this area and will only benefit Shelby as well as the children she will bear for me—your grandbabies. As her mother, you should want what is best for her growth. You should desire that she reach her fullest potential, even if you failed yourself.’”
