Beck (Gods of the Fifth Floor #1)(70)
Author: M.V. Ellis

“Your mom’s showering too. Like I said before, we can all talk again in the morning.” He nodded silently, reaching for the bag, and retreating into the bathroom.

I waited for him to be done, to ensure he made it to bed. With him safely tucked up, I returned to my bedroom, to find Mel curled on the bed, showered, and dressed in pajama shorts and a strappy cami. She wore a towel turban on her head. Though I felt she was overdressed for what I had in mind, my dick was definitely pleased with the view. Holy fuck.

Moments later, I knelt on the mattress, and stretched out, lowering my body across Mel’s, startling her from her reverie.

“Shit! Beck, what are you doing?”

“Ending the day as I mean to end every day from here on in—deep inside my woman, with my son tucked up safe and well, asleep nearby.”

“Bu—”

“It wasn’t a question. No buts, Mel. There are none. There’s just us, and a whole lot of unfinished business.”

The Dream

I woke up from The Dream the same way I always had—choking, both figuratively and literally—clutching the bed sheets wound tightly around me, drenched in a cold sweat, with tears streaming. The difference now was that Mel was in my arms, and was shaking me awake.

“Ty, baby, wake up. It’s a dream. Just a terrible dream. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.” She was the only person on the planet who ever called me Ty—after trying, and failing, to get used to calling me Beck, she’d reverted to the nickname of our youth—and I secretly loved it. “Wake up, sweetheart.”

She kissed tenderly at the tear tracks streaking my cheeks. As my eyes fluttered open slowly, rationally I knew that everything was okay. I was in bed. I had my woman in my arms—the way I’d fallen asleep and woken up every day since the day we’d decided to be a family. Everything was good.

Fourteen years after Mel had left my life for what seemed like forever, and I still occasionally had The Dream. Though those occasions had been fewer and farther between since she and Sam had reentered my world, I still considered it to be a bad omen.

“I don’t think you should think of it as a bad omen anymore.” I swore to God this woman could read minds. “You had The Dream the day we met again, remember? I think we can both agree that was a good day.”

“It was in a few major ways.” I kissed her forehead. “But let’s face it, the pitch meeting wasn’t either of our finest hours.”

“I’m not going to argue with you there. It was a total shit show. But the encounter in the hall was hot as hell, and will forever live on, both as the best finger fuck in history, and the day my life got back on track.”

“Awww, baby. Who said romance is dead?” I kissed her forehead once again.

“Nobody. It’s alive and well, and you bring it to me every day.”

“And I intend to carry on doing so while I’m alive and well.”

I flipped us so that she was on top of me. “Speaking of which…I have a boner here that is very much alive and well, and it has your name on it, .”

“Oh, that’s what that is? And here’s me thinking that you have a baseball bat in your pocket.”

As she spoke, she was already maneuvering herself onto my dick, and with the last word of the sentence, she lowered herself down fully, shuddering with pleasure as she took me to the hilt. I rocked my hips upward, watching as she tipped her head back.

Waking up this way never got old, and it never would. Sex between us had always been off-the-charts good. First when we were kids, then different, but equally good when we got reacquainted. Now it was different again, with all the pregnancy hormones racing around Mel’s body. Not to mention her tits. Jesus Christ. They’d been glorious before, but now she was knocked up, they were out of this world.

As she started moving in earnest, I reached for her tits, stroking them gently a little while, before pinching her nipples hard, in the way I knew would drive her wild. That was another blessing of pregnancy—not only were her tits full and juicy, but they were extra erogenous. I barely had to look at them, and Mel was practically ready to come.

As she rode me harder and faster, she leaned forward, hovering over me. I took the hint, propping my head on a couple of pillows so that I could take each nipple into my mouth in turn. I sucked hard, knowing it would send her over the edge.

I loved how responsive she was in pregnancy and I joined her, reveling in the intensity of my own orgasm as she detonated around me. As she came down from her high, she kissed me sloppily, still out of it on endorphins. It was cute as all get out.

Fuck I loved her. More every day, and beyond anything I’d ever thought possible.

“I love you. I’ve always loved you, and I always will.” I was also still riding the waves of my postcoital high.

“I love you too, baby. Beyond words.”

“Wait. Are you sure you have the directions straight? This doesn’t feel right.”

We were on our way to Carly and Gary’s engagement party, and as ever, I was driving while Mel navigated. Or that’s what she like to call it. In reality, all she was really doing was calling out the directions from her phone. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I could just as easily use the car’s built-in satnav to do the exact same thing.

The party was being held out of town at an uber-upscale country club in the middle of nowhere, and we were all—Sam was in the back of the car with us—dressed to kill. We all looked so good that a person could be forgiven for thinking we were the ones getting married. Mel had had her hair and makeup done beautifully, and had even fussed over ordering me a new suit, shoes and tie, and the same for Sammy.

I didn’t know the happy couple well—they were friends of Mel’s—but they were obviously pretty fancy. It certainly seemed like Mel wanted to impress.

“In fact, it kind of feels like we’re heading—”

“—to BR&ND?” She finished for me.

I nodded, and took a sideways glance at her.

“That’s because we are. I just have to stop in to pick up something real quick.”

What the fuck?

As we pulled into the underground parking lot, I grew even more suspicious. It was Sunday, but the lot was as full as any weekday. More so, in fact, as we restricted who had access to parking.

Once parked in my allocated bay, I killed the car’s engine and turned to study Mel long and hard. She knew I was watching her, but instead of looking back at me, she carried on staring out of the front windshield, into the dimly lit lot.

“You gonna tell me what’s going on here?” I coaxed gently.

Finally she met my gaze, and the look of love in her gorgeous brown eyes flawed me. I was sometimes surprised by the way she still had the power to take my breath away.

“Can you give me like five minutes? I mean trust me for a little longer?” She seemed a little nervous, which wasn’t like her.

“Yeah…okay…” I was hesitant, but the fact was, despite our past, I did trust her.

“Okay, great. So let’s go.” The three of us got out of the car, and took the elevator to the seventh floor. I had no clue what the fuck was going on, but when the doors swished open, I was starting to get the picture.
