Devil's Ride : A Dark MC Boxset(114)
Author: E.C. Land

“Sam, I think this little bitch has learned her lesson for now,” Mason says as he kneels down next to my head. Pressing a finger into the blood flowing from the cut he twists the digit into my skin. “If you think this is the only lesson you’ll get, be advised, it’s not. Until I have that bastard, I will rain hell on you before I allow Sam to kill you. Next time I come for you; we’ll be doing far worse than this beating.”

Standing, Mason delivers one last swift kick to my stomach before storming away from where I laid on the floor in the hallway. “Let’s get the hell out of here. We have shit to do,” he commands.

The guy who’d beaten me, Sam, grunts and kneels down once more. “See you around,” he says, gripping the hair I have left. Lifting my head by my hair, he licks my face prior to slamming my head against the floor.

My last thoughts were of keeping Cody safe. I’d do anything for him even if it’s never seeing him again.

Chapter Six

Coyote

Being woken up to cries in the middle of the night is completely new to me. It sucks that I feel guilty I hadn’t found a place yet, and my brothers probably get woken up by him nightly. At least it’s only one time.

Last night was a different story. He’d woken up several times throughout the night, leaving me exhausted. Since I didn’t have to work today due to a checkup for Cody, I’d spent the day with just him. Besides looking at house listings online that Izzy sent me, I took a much-needed nap only to wake up not even twenty minutes later to my son’s screams.

“Alright, buddy, I got you,” I say as I get out of bed and take the few short steps to the playpen I’d bought that has different sections. One being for where he sleeps, another a changing area for now. Rachel and Victoria both said this would be useful for here at the clubhouse but when I found a place, I’d need to get a crib and shit ton of other stuff for him.

Lifting Cody out of the bassinet part of the damn playpen, his cries seem to calm to a small whimper as I hold him to my bare chest. “Hey, little man. It’s okay how about we get you changed and then get you a bottle while Daddy finds himself something to eat?” I barely recognize the soft words coming from me, but my son seems to like it.

Hell, I’m never soft spoken with anyone in my life. Not even when I’d been there for Izzy when she’d tried to kill herself.

Wild and free that’s what I’ve always been and plan to be. Nothing in this world will ever be able to tame the way I am. Sure, I don’t do all-night fuck sessions anymore, but that doesn’t mean I don’t find a way to get my dick wet.

A man’s got needs and I have more than one willing woman to help me out; however, my mind seems to always conjure up a beautiful blond with gorgeous eyes every time I’m fuckin’ some random or clubwhore. And it’s not Milley that fills my head anymore.

Fuck, I still can’t believe the woman I fucked all those months ago and filled my mind was her. I know I can’t dwell on the what ifs but fuck me it’s still mind blowing. To go along with that I have my son that I would do anything to protect.

From what Nerd’s been able to find so far on Milley it hasn’t been pretty. My brothers and I can see why she felt the way she did. Her brother is the leader of the Demon Raiders gang. They’re some sick ass people that need to be put in the ground.

Quickly changing Cody’s diaper, I block everything else that deals with the Demon Raiders and Milley out of my head. Snapping his little foot pj’s in place I cradle him against my chest, I head out of the room to go toward the kitchen to make his bottle.

As I enter the kitchen, I find several of my brothers already up and drinking coffee.

“Sorry,” I murmur as I move toward where there’re bottles set up for Cody.

“It’s all good, brother. Little dude can’t help it. I mean he’s a baby it’s what they do,” Venom shrugs.

“Exactly. But it is exhausting. I feel for you man. Talk about birth control at its finest. Wrap that shit, double wrap if you gotta. Hell fuck ‘em in the ass instead. At least then you can’t knock a bitch up,” Whip chuckles earning a slap to the back of the head as Momma B walks by.

“Watch your mouth around Cody,” she says as she stalks past him holding her hands out. “Here give him to me. I’ll feed him, you eat.”

“Thank you, Momma B,” I murmur leaning in to kiss her cheek.

“It’s not a problem, I look at this little guy the same as all the other ones around here. They’re my grandbabies and I’ll help out where I can. Now you eat,” She commands as Victoria and Raven come in the kitchen a frown marring their faces.

“What’s with the faces?” Momma B asks them while holding Cody’s bottle for him.

“Tinsley’s late and didn’t answer her phone,” Vi says.

“Did she work last night? If she did the poor woman is probably asleep.” Frowning at Momma B’s response I wonder how much Tinsley works.

“No, she got off yesterday morning and didn’t have to go back until tomorrow night,” Raven murmurs. The fact that Raven isn’t her normal self and has a look of pain across her face twists something in my chest. We all know Raven is special, granted we don’t bring it up, being it’s not our place. I’ve come to trust her as much as my instincts.

“Want us to check on your friend for you?” Venom asks.

“I’ll go,” I declare before I can stop myself. “I mean if you don’t mind watching Cody, Momma B?”

“You should know better than to ask that, Coyote. I think you three should all go check on her. You can never be too careful,” Momma B says.

“Alright. Give me a minute and I’ll be ready to roll out of here,” I mutter, wanting to kick myself in the ass for volunteering for this shit.

“We’ll wait for you outside,” Venom nods, lifting his coffee cup to finish what he had left.

Nodding my head that I heard him, I leave the kitchen, my own thoughts of getting something to eat gone. I’ll just check on her and then come back. Let’s hope the only thing wrong is she’d overslept.

“Fuck, is this her car?” Whip asks as we pull up in front of the building where Tinsley just moved into. Don’t ask me why I know this? I simply wanted to keep track of the woman.

“Yep,” I mutter, not giving the car a second look. “Come on let’s go.”

Making my way through the parking lot and to her door, my gut starts to twist tightly in my stomach.

Knocking on her door, I wait for her to answer. When she doesn’t, I knock louder. Tired of waiting, I pull out the spare set of keys I have for the place. Another thing not to ask me. I’d made sure when she moved in here that I’d had a spare. I just don’t know why I needed it.

Opening the door quietly, I step into the room and immediately feel as if something isn’t right.

“Tinsley,” I call out, getting no response from the woman.

Figuring she was a heavy sleeper; making my way toward the hallway heading for her room. My vision turns red at the sight in front of me.

“Fuck, Tinsley,” The words feel heavy as I rush to her side. Putting two fingers to her neck I check to make sure she has a pulse. Thankfully finding one.
