Devil's Ride : A Dark MC Boxset(63)
Author: E.C. Land

Nodding his head, he lets everything soak in. “I’m gonna ask these last two questions, Vi, and after that, we’re dropping the subject and never bringing it up again, okay?”

“Okay,” I say nervously.

“First, what’s the real reason you gave up all that money? I don’t give a shit about the money itself. I didn’t want anything to do with that. It’s not why I’m with you but I gotta know,” he states.

“I didn’t want it to become a problem between us. Like I said, I kept enough in a trust to divide if need be for my children. I want to earn my money, not just have it sitting in an account tempting someone to steal it,” I murmur.

“Sweetness, you know you’ll never want for anything being with me. I know you hate when I call you a princess, so I’m just gonna say you’ll be treated like my fuckin’ queen,” he grins.

Speechless, I do my best to nod in response. I mean, what do you say to something like that?

“Now, my other question, why did Doctor Alverez call you Mrs. Wilson?” he asks, his brow lifting the way it does when he finds something amusing.

“Well, you see, I figured I’d use your last name in an attempt to keep the women away from trying anything with you. Unfortunately, that didn’t even work,” I mutter, narrowing my gaze on him. “Why do you have to be hot as hell?”

At my question, Tracker throws his head back as he bursts into a fit of laughter, which in turn causes me to start giggling. Guess it is funny knowing I have him and everyone wants him.

Only now I have to make sure he doesn’t leave me for some skank who can give him something I can’t. Especially while I’m caring for his child and growing bigger.

My body won’t ever be the same again. I just hope that I’ll be enough. As he said, he still needs to prove to me. Hearing him say he loves me means a lot to me, but actions speak louder than words.

Chapter Sixteen

Tracker

Over the past three months things around the club have been pretty quiet. Which in my opinion, is a damn good thing. I could use a break from all the drama. Between all the shit with Blow’s charter in Tennessee and the cult that had been causing trouble with Twister’s, I’ve had enough.

Yesterday, Stoney and Rachel left to go to Twister’s clubhouse for a party. I’d opted to stay here this time around, needing a breather. That and the fact Victoria had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and we found out we’re are having a little boy.

To celebrate, I took Victoria to one of the baby stores I’d heard about from Momma B and we’d picked out all the things she'd wanted and what we’d need. I know we still have a ways to go before our little boy joins us but fuck if I don’t want to give him and Vi everything they deserve.

As we’re coming out of the store the hairs on my neck are standing on edge. It feels like Vi and I are being watched. But by who.

The club hadn’t heard of anyone trying to barge in on our territory and Omen hasn’t said much on the cult side of things they came to us about. My brothers and I have been making sure to flag anyone who seems suspicious.

I don’t know what it is with these fuckin’ cults, but fuck, I’m sick of them all. They all need to be eliminated.

If things had progressed with this one, Omen would have contacted me. Shit between their club and ours might be tense but I know if we called them, they’d come. Same with them if it were the other way around. Stoney may not want to see or talk to their Prez, but it doesn’t mean he’d back out on his word to them.

Besides he’s happy now that he’s with Rachel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this happy other than when he sees his grandkids. They are absolutely his world along with Luca and Corinne who he officially adopted.

Clearing my head, I tried to think of who it could be following us. Putting my arm around Victoria, I pull her closer to me.

“You feel it too, don’t you?” she mumbles under her breath, shocking the hell out of me. I’ll never underestimate her abilities to protect herself. Abilities I’ve yet to get a direct answer on how she’s come across them. Maybe from her childhood she needed them.

Victoria isn’t one to talk about her life with her parents. Hell, I don’t blame her for it either. It’s why I haven’t pushed for her to tell me about it.

“Yeah, Sweetness, let’s get out of here. How about instead of going out to eat for dinner, we pick up something from Jalapeños and go home?” I suggest.

“Sounds like a good plan to me. I’m tired, but I want my nachos too,” she declares.

Chuckling, I shake my head as I round the side of my truck to open the door for her. Vi and her nachos. All she’s wanted lately are nachos, and it can’t be just any nachos, they have to be the fresh baked ones at Jalapeños. I’d even tried to get away with getting some from Dom’s, but it didn’t work. Victoria ended up throwing them in my face then began to sob, saying I didn’t love her and all that hormonal bullshit.

“Alright, Vi, you call them and by the time we get there, they should be ready,” I say, grinning as I help her into the truck. The feeling of being watched is still there. Quickly, I round the front of the cab and climb in on the driver’s side.

Time to feed my woman before she goes batshit crazy on me.

“Do you think we’re still being watched?” Victoria asks as she lays her head in my lap.

After we’d gotten home with dinner, I suggested we watch a movie while we eat. Having known her so well, I know when she gets her stomach full, Vi normally needs a nap. I may joke with her about the naps, but I’d never try to change it because those naps are always like this with her head in my lap and me stroking my hand through her hair.

“Not sure, Sweetness, but I have Neo keepin’ an eye out,” I murmur, playing with a strand of her hair. “Don’t you worry, Vi. No one will ever hurt you or our kid. I’ll put a bullet in their head before that happens.”

“I know, James,” she whispers. Glancing down at her, I find her eyes closed and on the verge of falling asleep.

“Go to sleep, baby,” I say, turning my attention to the window at the side of the room. The hairs on the back of my neck won’t seem to go down, not until I know what’s the cause of my unease.

Without waking Victoria, I gently place a pillow underneath her head as I move to stand up. She stirs a little before settling back into sleep.

Pulling out my phone, I dial Nerd’s number, wanting him to look into a few things.

“Yo,” he answers on the first ring.

“You know how annoying that shit is, brother?” I ask. Why he seems to think it’s cool to answer the phone that way, I’ll never know. It’s worse than when someone answers with a ‘yeah’. Annoys the shit out of me.

“Ever think I might do it to annoy the shit out of you,” he chuckles through the line.

“Fucker, you can quit that shit,” I mutter as I walk around the house, checking the windows and doors to make sure they're locked. I’m not taking any chances, not after that shit Raven pulled when we first got back from Australia. I still don’t know how she pulled off getting into my house. I want to say one of my brothers gave her the code, but no one will own up to it.
