Possessed by Passion(423)
Author: Bella Emy

“Kass...” Lela cried.

It was hard to not hear her. I looked in the direction she was staring, and I saw him. A man. Well, he wasn’t exactly a man.

“Get in the car,” Kass demanded to her sister. Kass went toward the man and disappeared into the darkness.

Lela gasped, and I was over in front of her in a moment.

“Stay here,” I growled running into the darkness after Kass.

There was no way I was letting someone else take my glory. Nor was I going to let anything happen to either of those girls before I had a chance to talk to Kass face to face about the truth.

I came to a stop running right into her.

“Are you okay?” I breathed. Damn I hadn’t run like that in years.

“What are you doing in here?” she groaned.

“Saving you. Come on.” I grabbed her arm and pulled her, but she didn’t budge. Instead she pulled her arm from my grasp.

I turned to face the direction she was looking in.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” the demon smirked.

He knew me. I wasn’t surprised. My name and face were everywhere lately in Hell.

He didn’t say another, just launched a bolt of lightning in our direction.

I pulled Kass out of the way, pinning myself between the tree and me.

I reached my hand out and shot a bolt of lightning back. I didn’t want to expose myself, but at that point, I didn’t have much choice in the matter.

We both peeked around the tree as another bolt came directly toward us.

My body hit the ground next to hers as I scrambled to get up and pull her from her spot and pin us behind yet another tree.

That time I paid more attention on where I was aiming and BAM. Direct hit.

“Is he dead?” she breathed.

I nodded. “I believe so.”

I felt it. The heat between us. Her body slowly moving as she breathed in and out.

“Who the hell are you?” she questioned pushing me off her and giving us both some space between our bodies.

“Theo. I told you that.”

“Fine. What are you?” she groaned.

“What do you think I am?”

“A monster.”

I tilted my head. Well she wasn’t entirely wrong.

I had already exposed myself.

“If I tell you, you have to promise not to kill me since I did just save your life.”

“I’ll spare you for now.”

“I’m a demon.”

She raised her hands in the air, and I grabbed them, pinning them down by her sides.

“You said you would spare me.” I said. Our faces inches from each other.

“That was before I found out you were the very thing we just defeated.”

“We?”

She sighed. “Can you let go?”

“Can you promise not to try to kill me?”

“Sure.” She huffed.

I let go of her arms and backed up a bit.

“Want to tell me what you and your buddy are up to?” she asked.

“First, he’s not my buddy. And I don’t know why he was here. It definitely wasn’t the reason I’m here.”

“Why are you here?”

“Can we walk and talk? I’m sure your sister is waiting for you.”

She stared at me for a moment before nodding.

“I’m simply here because I know about your mother. I know she passed.”

“And demons just so happen to care about that type of thing?”

“Not all, but some. Look, I lost someone close to me a long time ago, so I know how you are feeling. Plus, right now isn’t not like I’m exactly overrun with things to do.”

“Still doesn’t seem very convincing. But thanks for your concern on my mother. We are good. You can leave town now.”

“Well I was hoping to stick around for a bit. I kind of like it here.”

She shrugged. “Just stay out of my way and don’t kill anyone.”

I held up my hands. “I don’t plan to.”

“Kass!” Lela jumped out of the car and ran to her hugging her tightly.

“I’m okay.” Kass turned to me. “Thanks again. Have a good night.”

I nodded and walked back off to my car; that time I waited until they had pulled out of the parking lot before I headed back to the inn.

I knew killing another demon was frowned upon, but trying to mess up someone’s mission was also frowned upon.

Chapter Three

Kassandra

When I woke the next morning, my body was painfully sore.

I shuffled over to the mirror and the bruises were visible. So was the growing tattoo. It was then slightly on my other arm. The color was more vibrant than before.

“You know, that’s not normal.” Lela sighed from the doorway.

“Maybe you’ll start growing one. Or maybe it’s just a head witch thing. You might get it when I die,” I teased.

“Mom didn’t have a tattoo like that,” she noted.

“That we know of. How many times did you see mom with a tank top on? Or in a bathing suit?” I questioned.

She stood there in silence.

“Exactly.”

“Maybe we should call dad...”

I shook my head. “Absolutely not. He couldn’t even make an appearance at her funeral. Why in the hell would you think he would show up now?”

“Maybe he knows something!”

“Lela, when I start worrying about this, then you can call him. In the meantime, I have shit to do today. Unless of course you want to be a grown up and do some of it.”

She shook her head and stormed off; her door slamming shut moments later.

“That’s what I thought.” I sighed. I looked at the tattoo again in the mirror. It was odd. I didn’t know any other witch who had something like it. I shook my head and walked into the bathroom. My day was already filled with things to do. Tracking down why I have a magical tattoo was not on the list for that day.

I wanted to drag Lela on my errands with me, but then I would have to listen to her complain and complain about the tattoo. Neither of which I felt like dealing with.

“WELL, WE MEET AGAIN.” Theo said rounding the corner as I walked down the sidewalk.

I stopped and stared. “Yes, we do.”

“I’d really like to talk to you. In private.”

“What about?” I sighed.

“Something important.”

I shook my head. “Look, if you are to be cryptic, I don’t care to sit here and chat.”

“Your tattoo,” he whispered.

“How do you know about my tattoo?” I questioned getting a little closer to him. I could feel the heat from his body.

“I would really like to discuss this in private, if possible,” he whispered.

“Fine.” I motioned for him to follow me into the grill. We walked to the table all the way in the back.

“Talk,” I said as soon as the waitress left with our orders.

“Your tattoo. It’s quite common. For people like me.”

“Why? How? It’s just a tattoo.”

“And you haven’t questioned it yet?” he asked.

“Why in the hell would I question it?”

“Because I’m quite sure you didn’t go out and get that tattooed on your body. If so, it’s healed really fast and really well.”
