We're Made of Moments(41)
Author: Molly McLain

She shudders from head to toe, her grasp tightening on my arms as she works herself faster against my hand.

“That’s it, baby. Just like that,” I praise her, because something tells me she needs it. “You’re so fucking beautiful, Hayden. So sexy. Do you know how many times I got myself off thinking about you? About this?”

“Please…” she begs, her nails piercing my skin as I fuck her harder. “Please, Jesse.”

“So many fucking times, baby. Imagining how pretty you’d be. How wet you’d get for me. How sweet you’d fucking taste…” I pulse my thumb against her clit as her walls begin to tighten around my fingers. “He doesn’t do this for you, does he? He doesn’t get you off like this…”

And that’s all it takes. A low, guttural groan rolls up from her belly as her pussy begins to spasm, covering my hand with liquid heat.

“Good girl.” I press my face into her hair and inhale, so friggin’ close to losing it myself.

This girl overwhelms me. Has from the very start. Her mere presence seems to swallow me whole and suffocate me in the best way possible. And right now, I want to drown.

When she stops shaking and pulls back just enough to bite her lip and shoot me a wicked smile, I grab a condom from my wallet.

“Last chance to change your mind,” I warn her, tearing the foil open with my teeth while stroking my cock with the other hand.

“I’ve wanted you since the first night I met you,” she rasps with sated, lust-filled eyes. “I’m not going to change my mind now.”

Thank fuck. With an arm around her waist, I lift her to the island and she quickly scoots to the edge, spreading her legs. I almost blow right there in my goddamn hand.

“That for me?”

She bites that lip again and nods. “All yours.”

Damn right it is. My mouth watering, I dip my head for a quick taste and then slick my cock through her folds to wet myself before lining up and easing in.

Her brow pinches and her mouth slacks open as she sucks in a shaky breath. “Jesse,” she whispers my name like it hurts and feels good at the same time.

“I’ll go slow,” I grit out, curling a hand around the back of her neck while trying to make good on my promise.

“I won’t break.”

No, but I might. “Don’t want to hurt you.”

Her eyes lock on mine, and she smiles. “You won’t, frat boy. Now fuck me.”

So, I do and, by the time the telltale pressure builds in my balls, my throat is hoarse and our bodies are slick with perspiration.

“Two weeks,” I croak, pumping hard and fast. “You’re mine for two weeks. Say it.”

A slow smile tips her lips as she takes my pounding like the sexy, little minx she is. “I’m yours,” she promises, and it’s all I need.

Buried deep inside, I blow so fucking hard my ears rings. My knees shake, too, but Hayden holds on tight, her arms wrapped around my neck like she’s afraid to let go.

And she doesn’t for two weeks.

Two weeks that I promised would be enough, all the while knowing that no amount of time with this girl will ever be enough to work her out of my system.

She will haunt me for the rest of my life.

We all have our demons, and Hayden Foss is mine.

Chapter 18

JESSE

“Hey, Jim, it’s Jesse Enders. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you.” I drop down into my office chair on Monday morning and cringe at the stacks of unopened mail, invoices, and files that have sat untouched for the last month… the same amount of time it’s taken me to call back one of my dad’s closest friends and one of Enders Excavating’s most loyal customers.

“No problem, kid. I know you’ve been busy. In fact, I dropped by the Murphy place the other day to talk to Ben and saw you up in the hauler. Was kind of surprised, but then I talked to your dad and he said you’re still short on help.”

“It’s been a rough couple of months, that’s for sure.” I toss my hat onto the messy desk and shove a hand through my hair. There’s no way I can let this shit go another week, let alone a month. But first, Jim. “So, what can I help you with?”

“Just need some fill brought in so I can get to work on my new pole building. From the looks of it, there’s plenty at Ben’s place. He said I could have it if you’d haul it over for me.”

“Yeah, I can do that. When do you need it?” I put him on speaker so I can check the scheduling app on my phone. It’s not ideal, but it’s kept me this side of sane for the past few months.

“I hate to ask, because, like I said, I know you’re busy, but any chance you could have it to me by the weekend?”

I blink at my phone, which shows I’m already overbooked this week. We have to finish Ben Murphy’s job, as well as dig out the tank area for the new gas pumps at the future site of the new Cole Stop. I also have to meet with two contractors from the next county over, both of whom are regular clients, to discuss their upcoming projects, as well. I can’t let them down and risk losing their business, either.

“Yeah, for sure. I’ll have to finagle some things, but we can make it happen.” Thank God Jett will be with Hayden this weekend, because I’ll be working straight through now.

“Jesse, you don’t have to say yes.”

I know. But I’m going to—and I just did—because that’s what my grandad would have done. And he only had a handful of people working for him. I have fifteen. No excuses.

“I got you covered, Jim. You just let Ben know how many yards you need and I’ll connect with him on getting it picked up.”

“Yup. That’ll do.” He chuckles. “You’re doing your grandpa proud, kiddo. Hope you know that.”

A strange pressure builds in my chest and I clear my throat. “Thanks, Jimbo. We’ll be in touch.” I disconnect when he says goodbye and toss the phone next to my discarded ball cap. It beeps with a message as soon as it hits the haphazard stack of papers. “Motherfucker.”

I snatch it back up with a scowl that melts away as soon as I see the text from Hayden.

Sorry to bother you at work, but do you know where I can find Wi-Fi around here? I have some work to do, but not enough signal to hotspot my phone.

I tap out a quick reply and hit send. Bobbie Jean’s Books & Beans. It’s right across from the diner. Might be a little loud because they’re renovating the library next door. Bring headphones.

She responds right away. Beggars can’t be choosers. Thank you!

No problem. How’s Jett liking the cabin?

Loves it. Not sure I’ll ever get him to leave.

I chuckle. I sure as hell don’t want him to leave, either. How many times has he asked to go swimming?

1,843, give or take.

It’s supposed to be in the mid-70s this weekend. Water will be ready in no time.

Oh, he’ll love that.

For sure.

Hey, if you want to have him again this weekend or even during the week, just let me know.

I automatically begin to type ‘hell yes’, but stop myself and quickly delete it. I attempt another half dozen lame ass excuses, but ultimately delete those, too. I don’t want to admit that I’m going to be too busy, because there isn’t a thing I wouldn’t do for my little man. But this feels like one of those times—maybe even the first time ever—that I need to say no. It breaks my fucking heart. But there’s also something about him being close by with Hayden that makes the ache a little easier to deal with.
