A Cowboy Kind of Love (Heart of Texas #6)(32)
Author: Donna Grant

How he loved the sound of her moans. Jace continued suckling until Taryn squirmed beneath him, her hips seeking contact. He desperately wanted to be inside her, and he knew she wanted the same thing, but he was making them wait—for both of them.

He moved to her other nipple and teased that dark peak as he used his free hand to cup her full breast and massage it. She had the most amazing curves that made his mouth water and his body yearn to have her. He didn’t know why she loved him, but he was glad that she did. Because together, they were amazing.

His mouth moved down her stomach, his tongue flicking at her navel. As he moved down farther, he released her hands so he could settle between her legs and hold her hips. He slowly licked her before swirling his tongue around her clit.

Her back arched as she sucked in a breath. Jace inwardly smiled. He knew just what to do to bring her the most pleasure.

It was too much.

It wasn’t enough.

Taryn cried out from the incredible feelings that rushed through her body as Jace’s tongue worked its magic on her. It had been so long since she had felt any pleasure that she found herself on the precipice of an orgasm within moments.

She clutched at the sheets and pulled on them as the climax overtook her. Her lips parted to scream, but the sound got trapped in her throat as her body convulsed from ecstasy. Before the orgasm finished, Jace moved on top of her. Taryn opened her eyes to meet his as he slid deep inside her.

“Oh, yes,” she whispered.

In between kisses on her neck, he said, “I’ve dreamed of this every night.”

“Yes,” she replied, her hands sinking into his thick golden locks.

He began rocking his hips, sliding in and out of her in the most decadent fashion. Just like his kiss earlier, he began slow and easy, gradually increasing his tempo until he was driving into her hard and deep.

Taryn wrapped her legs around him as she found herself careening toward another climax.

None of his dreams could compare to actually being inside Taryn. Her wet heat clutched him perfectly, sending him spiraling into pleasure as only she could. He looked down to find her watching him. As their eyes met, he knew that he would gladly give his life for hers. She was his everything.

And she had somehow found her way back to him.

“I love you,” she said.

He saw a tear fall from her eye to roll across her temple into her dark locks. Then pleasure filled her face a heartbeat before he felt her body spasm around his cock. That’s all it took to bring on his own orgasm.

Jace pumped his hips as he spilled his seed inside her. When he was spent, he lowered himself, and she wrapped her arms around him, holding him. They remained that way for several minutes before he rose and pulled out of her.

When he rolled onto his back, she followed him to curl against his chest. He wrapped an arm around her and put his other behind his head as he closed his eyes, a smile on his face. Nothing could ruin this night.

“Um … I probably should’ve told you last night that I’m no longer on birth control.”

Jace’s eyes snapped open.

Chapter 19

“Shit.”

Taryn kissed Jace’s chest. “There is still time for me to get a morning-after pill.”

“I should’ve thought about that.”

“Passion took us last night and today.” She returned her head to his chest and looked into the darkened room. “And if I get pregnant, then it was meant to be.”

He rubbed his hand up and down her back. “I once thought we would have had a child by now.”

That made her smile. “We probably would have.”

“Sounds like a nice idea, doesn’t it?”

“Very.”

“Marry me, Taryn.”

She frowned and rose up on her elbow to look at him. “You can’t be serious. Not now.”

“I’m very serious. I had planned to propose the day I woke to find you gone.”

Taryn didn’t know what to say. Her heart broke all over again. That’s when she had to remind herself that she was with Jace now.

He pulled her back down and kissed the top of her head. “You had to have known.”

“I didn’t,” she whispered. She didn’t even try to stop the tears from coming. “You’re such a romantic.”

“Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.”

“It’ll be our secret.”

Jace drew in a breath and released it. “I mean it. I want to marry you. I don’t care if I have one minute with you or a hundred years. I want to be with you.”

“I want that, too.”

“Then let’s get married before we go on this mission.”

Taryn shifted her head to look at him. “If something goes wrong and Boyd finds out about you, he’ll torture you in front of me. He’ll bring you untold pain before he kills you.”

“He might. Or he may not. The fact is, I don’t care about him right now.”

“You should. He’s dangerous. I went out of my way to ensure that he thought we had broken up that night so he didn’t try to drag you into this.”

Jace’s lips twisted. “I have a hard time believing a man like him wouldn’t have had spies in Clearview before they came for your father and brother. I’m betting he knows all about me. And that you’d come to me this time.”

Taryn’s stomach dropped to her feet as she sat up. “Shit. If he knows, then—”

“It doesn’t matter,” Jace said calmly as he pulled her back down and wrapped his arms around her. “We’re safe now. We’ve got this time. Let’s not have him intrude on things.”

“You’re right. He’s already taken so much from us.”

Jace rested his cheek atop her head. “Exactly. I’d much rather talk about you agreeing to marry me.”

She chuckled, unable to help herself. “Of course, I want to be your wife. I’ve loved you from the first moment I saw you.”

“Then what’s stopping us from getting married before this mission? We can go down to the courthouse and get it done quickly and quietly. No one else needs to know.”

Taryn looked up at him. “Is that what you really want?”

“It is.”

She grinned, happiness filling her. “Then let’s do it.”

“And keep it a secret?”

“Our secret until we’ve succeeded in this mission.”

A smile broke out over his face. “There’s that fire I’ve always loved.”

“I’m not the same person I was.”

“No one ever stays the same.”

“Jace, I’ve…”

He nodded solemnly. “I understand. If you want to talk about it, I’m here. If you don’t, you don’t ever have to share a word. But understand that I love you no matter what. I loved you before I met you. I’ve loved you all these years you were away. And I will love you from this life into the next.”

She held onto him. When his arms tightened around her, she closed her eyes. Never in her wildest dreams had she thought that Jace would be single if she ever managed to get back to Clearview. The fact that he still loved her and wanted a life with her despite everything that had happened was proof that they were meant to be together.
