Now there were managers and labels calling me from all over the country, but I was determined to take the time I needed to ease into this new life at a pace that worked for me. A pace that worked for us.
My phone pinged and vibrated with texts and incoming calls. I picked it up, holding down the button to power it off.
“You don’t want to answer any of those?”
“No, I want to celebrate with you, here in our home.”
He slipped his hands behind my knees and back and lifted me out of the chair, crossing the space to the not yet christened sofa. “And I didn’t want to put a couch down here because I thought you’d never leave.”
Holding onto his neck, I pressed my lips against his, smiling through my words. “Looks like you were wrong.” The cool leather pressed against my back and a shiver traveled up my spine.
“But I was so right about you.” He stared down at me with a loving adoration that brought tears to my eyes.
“Thank you for not giving up on us.” My life without him had been a hollow shell of a life and now it felt like it was bursting at the seams with a happiness that had changed me in so many ways.
His weight settled on top of me. “Never.”
I parted my legs and wrapped them around him. “I’m the luckiest woman who’s ever lived to have you love me how you have.”
“I’m just happy I’m the man who can give you the world. We were always meant to be, TNG.”
