Worst Boss Ever(27)
Author: J. S. Cooper

I didn’t want to analyze that too much. But I needed her in the office with me. And if it meant not fucking her, then I wouldn’t fuck her even though I wanted to taste her luscious lips and suck on her breasts, and …

“Dylan?”

“Yes, Abby, sorry, what?”

“I said, shall we go now?”

“Yes, of course.” I snapped back to reality. “Again, Mr. and Mrs. Waldron, thank you. Chloe, Emma, it was nice seeing you. I’m sure I’ll see you again.”

“Goodbye, Mr. McAllister,” they said in unison.

I looked at Abby. “Are you ready to work now?”

“I’ve been ready.”

“Then let’s go,” I said as we headed to the front door.

“Bye, Mom, Dad, I’ll call you later.” Abby kissed her parents goodbye then turned to her friends. “I’ll see you girls in the apartment later, okay?”

“Okay.” Emma waved cheerfully at us.

Abby pushed past me and opened the front door. As soon as we walked out and closed the door, Abby stopped and looked up at me. “What is your problem?”

“Excuse me?”

“I said, what is your problem? Why?”

“Why what?”

She was fuming, practically sputtering. She stepped up close to me, her face just inches from mine. “Why are you always such a—”

I couldn’t stop myself. I grabbed her and kissed her on the lips. She moaned slightly and her lips parted as they met mine. I deepened the kiss, thrusting my tongue into her mouth and she sucked on it eagerly as she pressed her body against mine, her breasts pressed against my chest and I groaned as I ran my fingers through her hair and kissed her even more passionately. She finally pulled away from me, gasping for air as her face blushed and she looked up at me with wide angry eyes.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“What do I think I’m doing? Or what do I know I was doing?” I asked with a smirk on my face.

“I mean, why did you just kiss me?”

“Do you want me to do it again?” I said. I wanted to do it again, but I knew that asking would just infuriate her.

“Mr. McAllister, that was totally inappropriate. I am your secretary and–and—”

“And what, Abby?”

“And I just don’t think that’s appropriate. Let’s go.”

“We’re going.” I strode past her towards the elevator. I could hear her walking behind me. I looked over my shoulder and grinned at the furious look on her face. Boy, was she sexy.

“Your parents seemed very nice.”

“Thanks,” she grumbled. “They’re okay, I guess.”

“They seem happy.”

“Yeah.” She shrugged. “I guess they are.”

“I mean, they’re the reason why you want to get married and meet the love of your life, right?”

“They’re not the only reason why. That’s what most people want in life. Aside from you.”

“Yeah. I guess aside from me.” I looked at my watch. “You know what, Ms. Waldron?”

“What Mr. McAllister?” she sighed.

“We have a lot of work to do, and I don’t have time for any more chit-chat. So, if you’re done talking about personal matters, I think we need to get back to the matter at hand.”

“I wasn’t even the one talking about—”

“Enough. Can you take out your cell phone and record some notes, because I’m going to need you to type this up later.”

She shook her head as she pulled out her phone. I knew I was being abrupt and even more ornery than I normally was. But I was out of sorts. Being around her and spending time with her family had taken me to a place that I hadn’t been to in a long time. And it was making me think, and wish, and hope for things that I had never hoped for in my life. At least not in my adult life.

There’d been a time when I was younger that I’d thought I’d have a happy family. When I’d thought … Well, it didn’t really matter what I’d thought because I didn’t want that anymore. It wasn’t part of my dreams, and I needed to remember that. I had to rule the world. Those were my dreams. More money meant more power, and more power meant that nobody could hurt me.

Ever.

And I wasn’t going to let Abby Waldron change that no matter how sexy she was. No matter how much I wanted to bend her over and take her and hear her crying out my name. There was nothing that could ruin my life faster than getting romantically or intimately involved with Abby Waldron. That I knew for sure. And that was not a chance I was willing to take no matter how much my body wanted me to.

Chapter 18

Abby

* * *

“Good morning, Mr. McAllister, this is Ms. Waldron with your wake-up call.”

I felt like a zombie as I spoke into the phone. Dylan and I had worked until nine p.m. the night before and I’d barely gotten any sleep. I felt groggy and bitchy, and I was not in a good mood.

“What time do you call this?” His voice was smooth and sharp, and I glared into the phone.

“I don’t know, why don’t you tell me?”

“You’re three minutes late.” He cleared his throat. “Do you think that is acceptable, Ms. Waldron?”

“Sorry, but I was busy banging my hot new boyfriend, and I was distracted,” I snapped, not really even thinking about what I was saying.

“Very professional, Abby,” he growled. “I’m glad to know you’re banging on company time.”

I pressed my lips together and sat up before responding. I looked at the stack of bills on my desk and took a deep breath as I reached for my laptop and opened it. “You have a meeting with the CEO of Forest Run LLC at ten a.m., you will likely be meeting with him and his CFO. You have a business lunch with Mr. Major from accounting about a suggested donation match for your employees, and then it looks like you have an overseas call with a company in Scotland. They want you to visit Edinburgh next week to tour their facilities and are expecting a final decision from you. And then it looks like you have a dinner date at seven p.m. with Lucretia Peabody—” My jaw dropped. “Is that the supermodel Lucretia?”

“Of course.” He chuckled. “Cancel my lunch meeting with Mr. Major and reschedule it for tomorrow.”

“But you’re out of the office all day tomorrow, sir.” I had no idea where he was going or what he was doing. His calendar gave away no information and I wasn’t about to ask.

“And?” He cleared his throat. “Look into flights for the two of us for the end of the week.”

“Flights?”

“To Scotland.” He sounded annoyed. “We should arrive on Saturday to give us a day to acclimate to the time change.”

“It’s only five hours difference, and do I really need to come?” I didn’t want to fly anywhere with him.

“First class. Red-eye.” His tone was impatient. “Send roses to the restaurant for Lucretia. I’ll see you in the office in an hour.”

“Actually, Mr. McAllister, I—” But he’d already hung up. “Well, goodbye to you as well, asshole,” I muttered, and flopped back down on the bed.
