King of the Shadow Fae (The Darkest Fae #1)(15)
Author: Amelia Hutchins

My body heated, and like some creeper, I watched him fucking her until the video shut off. Then, swallowing down the urge to watch it again, I switched off the computer and shivered as I pulsed with need. He’d been raw, brutally taking her, and shit if I hadn’t responded like a bitch in heat.

Finishing my tea, I slipped into the shower, washing off the day’s turmoil as I readied for bed. My body was strung tightly from stress, and I needed a release. Fighting typically eased the tension, but it hadn’t. I’d yet to make any progress in finding out who had attacked us, and my father was still missing, adding to my anxiety.

Sure, it had only been one night, but what was happening to him? Was he in pain or being tortured? Was he already dead? What about the women that they’d taken with him? I’d followed his rules, burying the dead and worrying about what I could do in the moment. I couldn’t find my father by myself, and tonight I’d probably fucked up my opportunity to find out any additional information from the Underworld.

Turning off the water, I slipped from the shower and wrapped a towel around myself. Inside the bedroom, I grabbed a fresh pair of panties and a soft cotton camisole with suns and moons on it. Searching the drawer for some matching bottoms, I frowned when I came up empty. I made a mental note to order some shorts to sleep in and snatched the brush from the vanity, starting in on my hair.

My phone chirped, and I reached for it, seeing Enzo’s name on the screen. Answering, I paused as a feminine voice laughed.

“You doing okay? I didn’t hear from you today. We were worried,” Enzo began, not even bothering with hello.

“I’m fine. Thanks for checking in, though.” I sat back on my bed, staring at the ceiling. “Axton turned on me.”

“You want him handled? I can end him. Just say the magic words, and he’s done here,” he chuckled, knowing I wouldn’t. The woman in the background squealed, which caused Enzo to hiss. “She’s enjoying that shit, asshole. Try actually doing something that resembles torture,” he ordered.

“You two need some serious ethics. You can’t torment your staff,” I snorted, hearing his deep, rumbling chuckle vibrating against my ear. I paused, feeling it pulsing through me. “Calm it down, Enzo,” I whispered huskily, far from immune to their male incubus powers.

“That’s it, spank that pretty ass until it’s bright red,” he purred.

I moaned loudly, holding the phone away from my ear. My thighs clenched, and everything inside me threatened to explode from the tone Enzo had used to seduce the female in their room. Regular incubus demons were unnervingly powerful with their pheromones and voice, but the twins took that shit to another level. My nipples hardened, and my eyes rolled back in my head.

“Shit, Xari? My bad. Don’t tell your dad, or he’ll have my balls in a sling,” he groaned, adjusting the tone he used to continue speaking.

“You’re talking to Xar?” Ezekiel asked, not bothering to adjust his voice. I dropped the phone, rolling over and grasping a pillow between my thighs, growling at them. Pressure built until I felt my body pulsing with the desire to release the orgasm they had accidentally forced to the surface.

“You dicks!” I snarled, pushing my face into the pillows.

“Voice, Ezekiel. She’s edging. Xavier is gonna fuck us up,” Enzo snapped, like it was his brother’s fault I was in my current predicament. “Deep breathing helps stop the effects,” he offered, exhaling slowly.

After a few awkward moments, I was able to stop biting the pillow. “You two shouldn’t be calling me with a bitch between you! It’s not healthy for me, or her, let alone safe!” I scolded, fighting my instincts to scream at them both. “Tell me what you assholes know about Kieran Knight.”

“Where the fuck did you hear that name?” Ezekiel’s tone went from playful to serious in an instant.

“Around,” I lied, hearing them ushering their current plaything out of the room.

“Lie,” Enzo snorted. “Where?”

“He was at Axton’s club tonight, with a front-row seat to witness his betrayal. Axton assured me that our time controlling this city was at an end. I’m guessing he hired Kieran, and I like to know my enemies.”

“You stay the fuck away from Kieran Knight,” Enzo demanded, his tone etched with something I hadn’t ever heard in it before.

“Who is he?”

“You don’t need to learn anything about him. You’re not fucking with Kieran, little one. He isn’t someone you want to mess with, understood? Agree, Xariana.”

Sitting upright, I rolled my eyes and then screamed as the demon twins appeared in my room. Growling, I threw my pillow at Enzo, who stared down at me with a wide, owl-like expression.

“You’re in your underwear,” he pointed out.

“A warning would have been nice,” I snapped, pulling the blankets over me.

“Your wards aren’t working, and neither are the hex bags Talia made for your room,” Ezekiel announced. “Did you disable them?”

“I have only spent one night inside this room. I should have realized that dad would have placed fucking hex bags everywhere,” I snorted, staring at them before pausing. “You’re fully dressed.”

“You want us to undress?” Ezekiel smirked, grunting when Enzo elbowed him in the stomach.

“She’s Xavier’s only daughter, asshole. Xariana is so fucking off-limits. In fact, if you rated her availability from 1 to 20, she’d be a negative 30. So, stop flirting with his child. His only child,” Enzo scolded.

Ezekiel snorted, and I echoed it, smirking at him when Enzo growled in response to our antics. Enzo moved to the closet, opening it to fish around on the top shelf for something. His hand came away with a sheer, empty bag, reeking of sage.

“You didn’t remove the contents from these bags?” he questioned, glaring at me.

“No,” I answered, watching his eyes shift to black before turning to their usual soft blue.

“Truth,” he announced, as if I’d even try to deceive him with his ability to distinguish the truth from a lie with his creepy demon mojo.

“Back to Kieran,” I stupidly demanded, smiling as they both turned to glare at me. “He’s been in town, and yet I have never encountered him. That in and of itself is strange, don’t you think?” My tone was abrasive, but fuck it; they’d shown up in my bedroom after midnight. Neither one answered and avoided eye contact by seemingly finding the things inside my room interesting. “I found his address online.”

“Dammit, woman,” Ezekiel snapped, shaking his dark head. “We don’t want you anywhere near that prick. Do you hear us? He’s not the type of guy you should fuck with or piss off. Kieran is another level of fucked-up, all on his own. The leaders of the houses don’t mess around with him. You get me? There are not many people we can’t stop, and he’s at the top of that short list.”

I shivered at the warning and nodded slowly. I replayed how I’d reacted to Kieran and how the room had stopped moving the moment our eyes had locked after touching one another. I frowned. I’d never felt a sensation like it and had been shocked to experience that kind of power from a total stranger.
