Christmas Playboy : A Billionaire Holiday Novel(24)
Author: Sloane Howell

I jolt repeatedly against the wall, each time he slams into me like he’s racing toward a finish line. My eyes roll back a little and it’s too much, the way he’s losing control behind me.

My legs start to quiver, and it takes every ounce of willpower not to scream his name loud enough for the entire office to hear. It’s by far the most intense orgasm of my life. Every muscle in my body contracts all at once, goosebumps pebbling over every square inch of skin.

It’s like lightning ripping through my limbs, like I’ve just unlocked some secret level to a higher plane of existence. Everything tingles, every nerve ending firing all at once. All of it, rolls through my body in giant undulating waves, lessening a little in intensity with each one that passes.

Right when I think I might actually recover from this, Matthew groans out, “God, Karli.” He shoves into me deeper than he’s ever gone, so hard he crushes me against the wall. Both of his hands find my hips and his fingers dig in. He holds me there, pressing me down on him, and then I feel him erupt inside me.

At first there’s silence, and then he grunts and shudders, over and over as he fills me up.

It might be the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard and felt.

When he’s finished, his chest crashes into my back, and the only thing holding us up is the wall in front of us.

Within a second or two, there’s a palm on the side of my cheek, brushing away some wayward strands of hair, and then I see his eyes, right before his lips land on mine. It’s not a forceful kiss. It’s soft and sensual, almost like a thank you.

His eyes stay locked on mine, like he’s searching for words, but his brain is too scrambled to find any. I can totally relate to that right now.

Then, two words come from his lips, and the conviction behind them damn near sends me straight into a puddle on the floor.

“You’re everything.”

How in the world does this man own me like this? In a matter of weeks, nonetheless? It’s completely insane.

He kisses me again, as we both slowly get our wits about us. After another long moment, Matthew says, “Shit,” then tucks his dick back into his pants and zips them up. His eyes go wild, searching the closet, and then he breathes a quick sigh of relief.

I stand there, legs still kind of spread apart, with my skirt up over my ass, because hello, Matthew just came inside me and now some of it is running down my thighs.

I smile when I notice why he was in such a frenzy. He grabs a new roll of paper towels and shreds the plastic trying to get them open. Then he walks over and cleans me up, before pulling my skirt back down then examining me from every angle possible to make sure I don’t look out of the ordinary.

Once he’s finished, he stands in front of me, both of us staring intensely at one another.

Then, as if on cue, we both burst into laughter. Laughter at I don’t know what, how absurd we’re both being? How reckless and insane we make each other? But, at the same time, we’re doing it together, and there’s something special about it.

It just feels right. It feels perfect.

Matthew

That had to be the most reckless and awesome thing I’ve ever done in my life.

I couldn’t take it anymore, seeing her with Blake hovering around her fucking desk. I don’t know what came over me. I don’t get jealous like that.

Looks like you do.

This is dangerous. And I know exactly why.

I’m falling for her—bad.

You already fell, bro, the first time you ran into her.

I glance out at the bullpen, and she’s typing away at her computer. I could stare at her all fucking day. It’s all I want to do. I want to go grab her and run away with her. Live on the beach in a fucking van, or some weirdo hippie shit like that. I just want to be with her, all the time. The way she sighs when she’s deep in thought, then the way her eyes light up and she bites her lip when the ideas come to her.

I’m obsessed.

“Matthew.”

I recognize the sound of Dexter’s voice before I even turn around. I also notice the tone, which is one part hostile one part diplomatic. Like he’s pissed off but trying to remain professional.

I turn around to face him. “Yes?”

“Come with me to Decker’s office.”

What the fuck?

I shrug it off and follow him. I haven’t done anything wrong that I know of, outside of a relationship with Karli, but that wouldn’t warrant this. Something is most definitely going on, though.

My suspicions are confirmed when we get to Decker’s office and Blake strolls out when we’re about twenty feet away. He has a shit-eating grin on his face, and I have this unbelievable urge to smack it right off him.

I’ve tried to be as cordial as possible with this asshole, but he’s just fucking shady. He’ll do whatever he can to jump in line, throw me under the bus to make partner.

What the hell did he do?

When Dexter notices him, Blake’s expression turns serious. How do they not see what a two-faced piece of shit he is? Or do they just not care?

The second I walk into the office, I know it’s serious. Decker is not known for being polite or understanding, and I’ve never seen him look the way he does right now. His hands are balled into fists, veins bulging on his forehead, hard eyes. I swear there’s a little red in them.

My stomach balls into a knot at the sight, but I’ll be damned if I show him any fear. I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m good at my job, even if I’ve been slightly distracted since Karli came into my life. I still do my job, and I do it well.

I walk toward the chair in front of his desk as Dexter fills in the space behind me.

“Don’t fucking sit down.”

My jaw clenches immediately. I need to just shut my mouth and gather information, but that’s difficult. Respect is a two-way street, no matter who you are. I’m not some peasant for him to treat however he pleases.

I look him straight in the eye. “Is there a problem?” I glance back at Dexter, and his eyes shift away from me, basically telling me I’m on my own.

“You tell me if there’s a problem.” Decker’s words drip with venom as he picks up a newspaper on his desk. His eyes shift back to Dexter. “Did we run a press release I wasn’t aware of? Did you plant this article, Dexter?” His sarcasm is completely transparent with the last question and it continues on as he keeps going. “As part of a multi-pronged worldwide media blitz for Brian Hedgeman and Jerry Knox? Maybe you got the dates mixed up and it ran two weeks early? I mean, call me insane, but I would definitely want to lead off with a goddamn local Chicago newspaper’s entertainment section.” He’s practically seething when he finishes the last sentence.

My blood goes cold. Who the hell would’ve leaked that? How?

“I don’t understand. Is this an accusation?”

Decker shakes his head, looking like he might destroy the entire world. “Oh no. I know how this shit happened.” He looks unhinged, like he’s about to lose it.

My eyes dart around in confusion. “So why am I here? You want me to run damage control?”

Decker slowly walks around in front of his desk, fists clenched at his sides.
