Cruel Player(17)
Author: Shae Sullivan

This time, I didn’t want to meet him in the Crow’s Nest. I knew Nate would be surprised by this.

“Keira, are you sure? You know, that whole being seen together thing—it might even be worse if I come to your dorm, with Vanessa just down the hall.”

“I know,” I said. I hadn’t really thought about that, but fuck it. I wasn’t going to be deterred now. “I’m cool with it if you are…” I waited for him to chicken out, but he didn’t.

“I’d love study in your room tonight,” he said, and I swore his voice got huskier just then. Oh yeah, he was just as horny as I was.

“Okay, awesome. I’ll see you at 7:30.” I hung up and stared at the outfit I’d picked out. The only skirt I’d brought with me that semester was really more suited for the warmer month of September, which is why I didn’t want to walk across campus to Nate’s dorm, even with a coat on. It was a thin black polyester skirt that fell mid-thigh on me. I chose a grey graphic tee with a Guns-N-Roses emblem on the front. I did put my hair up in a bun, complete with a No. 2 pencil to secure it. I wondered how long it would take before Nate pulled it out this time.

Gwen had gone to a debate with DJ, and they wouldn’t be back until late. It was almost time for him to arrive, and I was sitting on my bed waiting for him to knock on my door when I heard it—the shrill cackle of Vanessa’s voice. She really didn’t party very much anymore. I think she was biding her time until basketball season started. So when I heard her talking so loudly, I knew it could only mean one thing—Nate had arrived. Shit.

I didn’t want to rush and yank the door open. For one thing Nate didn’t need to be rescued. For another thing, if we were going to do this thing, as tutor and student, friends, lovers, and whatever else was going to evolve, we had to act normal. He was coming over to be tutored by me, and whatever else happened was none of anyone’s fucking business, especially where Vanessa was concerned. I got up and walked slowly to the door. When I opened it, Nate was telling her just that.

“That’s definitely none of your business.” She gave him a derisive snort, but there really wasn’t a whole lot she could say that wouldn’t signal her jealousy and desperation in neon lights. She had her coat on, and Tina was with her, so they were on their way out, thank God.

She did see Nate’s expression when he saw me standing in the doorway of my room, and she whipped around to look at me. “Whatever,” she said wearily. Tina just shrugged, and they both turned and walked out. God, I hoped this shit got easier, but the look on Nate’s face when he saw me was totally worth it. So was the smile he had now as he strolled toward me.

I was so ready for him. We stood there making small talk and it was just about killing me, but when he made a move to kiss me, I held him off. I knew if he kissed me, I wouldn’t be able to stop, and I told him as much. I backed into the room, and he followed me looking like a lion that had just cornered a gazelle. I didn’t mind being the gazelle one bit, and when he challenged me by asking if I was ready to do schoolwork with him, and I said “Fuck, no,” it was on.

We couldn’t get close enough to each other, couldn’t lock our mouths tightly enough together. I’d launched myself into his arms, but it still wasn’t enough, so wrapped my legs around his waist.

That’s when he discovered my little surprise. The skirt was one thing, but the white lace thong I’d bought was another. I think it nearly broke him, especially because at first, he thought I wasn’t wearing any underwear at all. Just like he’d done with the pencil in my bun, once I told him it was a thong, he made quick work of it. He yanked it up so it would press on my clit before he finally ripped it off. Then, sweet Jesus, he worked some magic with that mouth of his.

I was lost and when he latched onto my clit and sucked, I saw stars. I don’t think I ever came so hard in my life.

But if I thought it was over, I had another thing coming. I was still shuddering through the last waves of my orgasm, when I heard him unfasten his belt buckle.

Chapter 7

Nate

I was wound tighter than a spring coil between practice, classes, and the last big game before the winter break—if we won, we’d play in the championship game the second weekend in January. Then whole team was feeling anxious about that. I was about to pop from the pressure. It didn’t help that I hadn’t been able to see Keira either. She made sure I was in good shape in my stats class, and we’d texted plenty. Hell, my right hand was getting extra workouts on top of throwing the ball, but it wasn’t enough. I’d apologized to Kirby and we were cool, but I almost bit his head off again the other day after practice.

Finally, Keira called me so we could reschedule the session we had to postpone. The day couldn’t get here fast enough for me. I was just as ready to get my hands on Keira again as I was to prep for my stats test at the end of the week, and I think Keira felt the same way.

Strange though, that she wanted to meet in her room. I was surprised in a good way. It let me know she was getting over her fear of being seen together someplace besides the Crow’s Nest. We’d both have to be ready for what might happen if we ran into Vanessa, though, but I knew we could handle whatever histrionics she dealt us. Which was a good thing, because Vanessa was the first person I saw when I walked into the freshman dorm. A big part of me wished that Vanessa’s room was on a different floor, but that only reduced the chances of running into her by a small percentage. She and Tina came out of their room with their coats on, and I was grateful that they were at least on their way out, and that I hopefully wouldn’t have to endure her angst for my entire walk down the hall to Keira’s room.

“Well, look who it is,” she said a little too loudly as she closed the door to her room behind them. “I know you’re not here to see me, so that must mean you’re here to see that drip Keira.”

I clenched my fist. Of course my first inclination was to defend Keira, and blast Vanessa for calling her that, but every minute spent talking to Vanessa was a wasted one, and I wasn’t going to let myself be baited by her.

“Yes, I’m here to see Keira. She’s tutoring me, but that’s really none of your business.”

“Oh yeah?” Vanessa stepped up close to me. She was trying to turn this into a standoff, and it just made her look more pathetic. “According to Kirby, she’s doing a lot more than that with you.”

“That’s definitely none of your business.” There wasn’t really much Vanessa could say to me, and I had not desire to keep talking to her either. At that moment, Keira opened the door to her room. Fuck me, she was wearing a skirt. Oh yeah, I was definitely going to get those creamy legs wrapped around me, among other things.

Vanessa must have noticed me noticing Keira, because she and Tina spun around. I was worried that Vanessa would lay into her, so I caught her gaze and held it for a moment. Just act chill, and she’ll just go away. Whether or not it actually worked, Vanessa didn’t instigate anything further.

“Whatever,” she said, and she and Tina pushed past me and left the dorm.

I tried not to run the rest of the way to Keira. I wanted her, and bad. When I finally got to her, it was all I could do not to grab her, but I did at least greet her first.
