The Billionaire (The Dalton Brothers #2)(65)
Author: Marni Mann

Me: Your life is so fabulous; I can’t stand it.

Monica: Text me the second something happens. I feel like I’m waiting on pins and needles.

Me: Have a safe flight. Miss you already.

Monica: XO.

I was just setting my phone down when there was a knock at my door.

I didn’t know who it could be. I was positive everyone in the department had already gone home for the night.

“Come in,” I said.

Flutters shot through my body when the door swung open, and Jenner’s deliciously handsome face came into view. He closed it behind him, and I heard the sound of the lock.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, standing from my desk, rushing to the front of it, where he met me, my arms instantly going around his neck.

He cupped my cheeks, holding me steady. “I’ve missed you.”

The feeling was so mutual that I could weep. “You have no idea how much. I know we talked last night and this morning, but today has been hell without you.”

A devilish grin grew across his beautiful mouth. “I drank so much at Dominick’s. I don’t remember a thing I said to you.”

“You just kept apologizing that this happened.” My body aligned with his as I held his back, gripping his suit jacket, so plush and firm in my hands. “And you told me how much you love me—several times.”

“At least you know I’m an honest drunk.”

I took a deep breath. “How did it go with Dad?”

Without saying a word, he leaned down and kissed me. I breathed him in, tasting the flavor that was so unique to Jenner, swallowing the reassurance I felt from his mouth. That feeling only increased when his hands dropped to my waist and he hauled me even closer to him.

I was breathless by the time he pulled away.

“I’ve been thinking about your lips all day.”

My heart pounded as I said, “Does this mean you’re trying to avoid my question?”

He took my hand and led me to my desk, lifting me onto the wooden edge before he took a seat in my chair in front of me. He quickly glanced around the room that I’d spent the last several weeks decorating, his eyes eventually returning to me. “You’ve got a nice office.”

It wasn’t large by any means with just enough space for a love seat and a couple of plants, a floor lamp and wall art. I’d expected a cubicle, so it had been quite the pleasant surprise.

He licked across his bottom lip as he added, “I’m getting a feel for it. I intend to spend a lot more time in here.”

My face turned as I tried to process what he meant. “More time?”

“Now that I can visit you here.”

And then it clicked.

I grasped his hand, holding it between mine. “So, Dad’s not going to kill you?”

He laughed. “I might not be playing poker with him and his buddies next week, but I’ll still be alive.” He kissed the tops of my fingers. “He’s warming up to the idea of us. It’s going to take him a little while.”

I exhaled a huge sigh of relief. “Next time you have news of this magnitude, can you lead with it? My heart can’t take the buildup. I’ve been dying inside.”

“But it was so fun, watching you squirm.”

I gently kicked his knee. “I had a meeting in his office this afternoon with his PR team. I felt his eyes on me the whole time, and when it was over, he asked me if I was all right. I’d barely talked. He knew how bothered I was by this.”

He ran his fingers across my chin. “He just wants you happy.”

My heart throbbed as I stared at him. “This moment, Jenner—right now, right here, with you—this is my happiness.”

“Come here, baby.”

I pushed myself off the desk and moved to his lap. My legs stretched across his, and the rest of me snuggled into his chest. “You know we go back to Utah next week, right?”

“I’d like to extend the trip, so we can vacation for a few days before we return to LA.” He turned my face, so I looked at him. “Can you take the time off from work?”

“Hmm.” I bit my lip. “I don’t know …”

He tugged on my mouth to release my teeth. “Don’t tease me, Jo …”

His eyes told me his warning was because I’d gnawed on his favorite lip, but I still answered him and said, “I think I can swing it.”

“Good, because I can’t move into the house without you.”

My back straightened, my eyes widening. “You’re closing?”

“In three days.” He kept his thumb on my lip, tracing across it. “I was going to surprise you when we got to Utah, but I think we’ve had enough surprises this week.”

I buried my face in his warmth, squeezing my arms around him. “After relocating to LA, I feel like I’m an expert mover. I’ve got this.”

“We won’t be doing any heavy lifting. I just need your input on furniture and decorations. You know, shit my decorator is going to put together for us.”

I leaned back to take in his eyes. “Us?”

“Did you really think you weren’t going to be heavily involved? You’re going to be staying there as much as me. That house is for us.”

“Jenner …” I scanned his eyes, my heart beating so fast that I swore he could hear it.

“I told you forever, Jo. I meant it.”

I couldn’t wait.

I had to taste him again.

I slammed our mouths together, and his tongue found its way between my lips. His hands moved to my hips, our bodies grinding, that need immediately thrumming.

“Oh God,” I finally breathed.

He felt far too good.

His kiss.

His grip.

His presence alone.

I was wrapped up in all of it, and I didn’t want him to let me go.

He glanced around the room again and asked, “Are there any cameras in here?”

I smiled, knowing exactly where this was going. “Nope.”

“Then, what’s stopping us from getting naked?”

“Absolutely nothing.”

I tore at his tie, pulling the knot until it was loose enough to slip off his head. I then went to work on the buttons of his shirt, popping each one through the hole until he could get his arms out, the jacket coming off as well. I stood from his lap, so he could remove his pants and I could reach behind my back to lower the zipper of my dress.

Except the moment my fingers hit the tiny piece of metal, he growled, “Leave it on.” His eyes dipped to my feet. “Those too.” He pointed at the desk while he unbuckled his belt. “And I want your ass up there, sitting.”

I lifted myself onto the edge, where I’d been just a few minutes before, and watched him strip, leaving his suit pants and shoes and socks where they landed on my floor. He eventually stood in front of me, completely naked.

“Damn …” I took my time, my eyes traveling the length of him, my body lighting on fire from the sight, my pussy tingling as he pumped his cock. “For the record, I don’t know if I’ll ever stop saying that when I see you naked.”

His arms surrounded both sides of me, making me feel so tiny on this desk. “For the record, I’ll never stop worshipping your body.” He kissed down my cheek, stopping at my jaw. “It’s so fucking perfect, Jo.”
