I clutched her middle. “Baby?”
“Baby number two in the chamber.”
I swept her up and twirled her around. She held onto my shoulders with a laugh. “I didn’t think this day could get any more perfect.”
“Put the rings on first, for God’s sake.” Even the sometimes surly Flynn sounded happy too.
I quickly set her down and waved Bez over to give me the rings. I slipped the diamond and ruby band over her finger as she did the same with my platinum one.
“All right then. I now pronounce you husband and wife. Go ahead and kiss her for real this time, kid.”
But I was already gathering her in, joy bursting in my chest. I tasted salt and love and best of all, forever.
“May I present Mr. and Mrs. Kagan, everyone. And a bonus bun in the oven.”
Everyone clapped and stood and rushed forward. Evidently standing on tradition was very much over. But the crush of our family surrounding us was so very worth it.
I hugged my wife and our little boy tight, my gaze connecting with my wife’s. “Thank you,” I whispered.
Zoe’s brows pinched together in confusion. “Don’t worry, the honeymoon is still on.”
I had to laugh. “Thank you for giving me this day. This life.” My fingers skimmed over her belly as her eyes misted again.
“Well, you played a small part.” Her lips twitched. “I love you, husband.”
“I love you, my Zoe.”
And there was nothing more traditional than that.
