Falcon (Deathstalkers MC #2)(21)
Author: Elizabeth Knox

Nama and Legs are still helping out at The Java Zone, per my instruction. I don’t know much about what people go through after they’re abducted, but I’ve heard that when they come back home, things can be overwhelming. I have so much faith that Hermoine’s employees can give her any sort of help she needs, but I want to make sure she doesn’t feel too overwhelmed, so my hope is that Nama and Legs can assist with anything else she might need while she’s at the shop.

She isn’t talking to me about what happened, not really, at least. Though, I don’t want to force her into speaking about it. When she’s ready, she’ll tell me what she wants, and I won’t push her in the slightest bit.

Rajah’s been with her at the shop for the past couple of days when she goes in to check on things, and they should be coming back soon since her shop closes today at six. They left for the shop a bit later today than the past couple of days. On the other hand, while I’ve been having my brothers and allies keep their eyes and ears open looking for the Lucifer’s Heretics MC, my mother is bringing over dinner.

It’s right around Valentine’s Day, so she told me she made peanut butter brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and some sort of pink heart cake. Food-wise, she’s made roasted red potatoes with garlic and dill, pot roast, homemade macaroni and cheese, and sauced peas. Now, the last bit sounds gross, but my mom is the best cook I know. She can even make the worst-sounding foods delicious.

I’ve been speaking a bit more with Zane, who’s the Prez of the Reapers Rejects MC. His club has had some interactions with the Lucifer’s Heretics MC, but it was years ago. He knew that there were a couple of people who were left over in the club, but he never thought they’d reform to come back stronger. Now, they just happen to be causing me hell instead of them. I still can’t figure this shit out. Why they’re targeting Hermoine?

All of our allies are reaching out to their allies to see if they hear anything about the Lucifer’s Heretics MC, but so far, nothing has been said about any of them. When I had my guys calling my allies the other day, I totally forgot that the Reapers Rejects MC has two charters. They have one in Billings, Montana, but the one they have in Las Vegas has been the most informative. Cobra, one of their member’s biological fathers, was in the Lucifer’s Heretics, but he was killed years ago. From what I understand, Cobra’s father beat and raped women. I’m pretty sure the Reapers Rejects handled that themselves, but Zane and Damon, the charter Prez for Las Vegas, didn’t confirm. Then again, they didn’t have to.

The front door to the clubhouse opens, and my mom walks in with a throwaway metal platter in her hands. “Boys, I’m going to need some help getting the rest out of my car,” she tells the club, and almost every single person stands up and heads outside. The last time my mom cooked, everyone was raving about it. She constantly amazes me. Even though she was busting her ass working when I was a kid, she somehow still found a way to make home-cooked meals for us every single night. I don’t know how she did it, but mom’s always been a ‘super mom’, so to speak.

I head out to her car, grab the heart-shaped cake she made and carry it inside, then take it into the kitchen and place it on the counter. By the time I’m back out in the main area, everyone’s finished carrying whatever they’ve needed to inside, and the entire spread is ready.

“You have no idea how excited I was to make this all for the club. It’s been so long since I’ve been here to see you all and even longer than that since I’ve cooked!” my mom exclaims, looking at my group of brothers.

“You can cook for us anytime you want, Mrs. G,” Merlin pipes up with a shit-eating grin on his face. He knows as well as the rest of the group that no one can cook the way my mom does. No one compares to her cooking or baking skills, at least not in my book.

“Maybe I’ll do it once a week then. After all, I did retire. If Falcon can provide the budget or get the groceries, I can come here and cook. Would you all like that?” She’s asking like she really thinks someone is going to disagree with her.

“Please do, Mrs. G,” Moneybags adds.

“Man, I’d love that,” Bowser comments.

“I don’t think you’re going to get one complaint here,” Horseman tells her, and he isn’t wrong. No one is going to disagree with a woman who’s made our Thanksgiving dinners more times than we can count. We all know she’s a damn good cook. I just never want her to exert herself by cooking for all of us, but she did retire a couple of months back, so maybe this will help my mom keep busy.

“Are you sure you have enough time? Like, honestly? I don’t want to add extra stress to your plate, Mom,” I tell her as I raise both of my brows. Over the years, I’ve learned that if I raise my brows and look a little bit intimidating, she’ll tell me what she really thinks. She always does the same thing, smacks me on the arm, and then speaks her peace.

“No way,” she smacks me on the arm, practically on cue. “This is what I want to do, Falcon. I get so bored sitting in that house all the time. Doing something like this once a week for your club will be good for me. The doctor keeps telling me that keeping my mind busy will keep me young! I plan on doing just that, and you know better than to step in my way!” She wags her finger at me, and the entire club chuckles under their breath.

“Damn, Mrs. G, remind me not to ever cross you!” Bones cackles as he leans against the wall, and she looks right at him.

“Oh, sweetheart. You know better than to do something stupid like that. And let me make this clear for the rest of you, I’m much scarier than my son. He learned how to be so gritty and mean from someone you know, and it surely wasn’t his father.” Mom cocks her brows and makes sure she meets eyes with everyone in the club.

“I had no idea Falcon’s mom was such a hoot,” Charlee’s voice carries over the rest of the crowd, and my mom looks around to see who was speaking.

For the most part, the guys walk off and do their own things, but I stick close to my mom. She turns around and hollers, “Everyone go ahead and get some grub in ya!”

Most of the brothers begin bee-lining it for the kitchen so they can start making their plates. Meanwhile, my mom walks straight over to Charlee. “I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure. I’m Mrs. G, Falcon’s mother. You must be Charlee. I only say it because I’ve never seen you before, and I remember those clubwhores that are always around.”

Charlee smiles from ear to ear. “Hi, yes. It’s an absolute pleasure. The guys here have told me you’re the best cook they’ve ever known. I can’t wait to have one of your world-famous meals.”

“Awe, they’re only being sweet because they know I’ll beat their hides red if they say otherwise. I heard you and Kinetic have a daughter, right?” Mom pries, and I hope Charlee doesn’t mind. I don’t even know why the fuck I’m standing here in the first place. It’s not like I have to guard over mom and watch what she says.

Charlee nods eagerly, “Yes, Kinetic and I have a daughter. She’s running around here somewhere. You can’t miss her. She’s loud like the Tasmanian devil, and she looks so much like her father.”

“What’s the girl’s name?” Mom questions her.
