It'll Be An Adventure (Masters of the Shadowlands #15)(39)
Author: Cherise Sinclair

When Master Raoul released her ankles, she pushed herself up to a more defensible position, holding the blanket to her chest.

“She is going to be sore for a few days.” Master Raoul stood and grinned at Saxon. “You should apply more cream tomorrow, sí?”

Ohhh. Her glower made his white smile widen.

Master Sam rose. “My Linda’s probably finished chatting with her friends.” He grinned at Saxon. “I like the squeaky noises your girl makes.”

When Murphy huffed, the sadist winked at her. “Find me if you want to try out a snake whip, missy.”

She watched the two Doms head across the room, then frowned at Saxon. “I don’t think my curiosity goes that far. Besides, he said ‘my Linda’. Doesn’t that mean he’s attached?”

Grinning, Saxon handed over her clothes. “He is, but she doesn’t mind if he whips someone as long as he doesn’t touch. The masochists in the club appreciate her generosity.”

It took Murphy a minute to figure out what he meant. “I’m not a masochist.”

Saxon leaned in, kissing her lightly. “No, little subbie. You’re not.”

Enjoying Murphy’s soft lips, Saxon ran a hand through her long, silky hair. She’d done very well this evening; however, her speech was slower, her gaze not as focused as he’d like. She’d only had one drink, but Black Russians were strong—especially since Cullen had a generous hand with the alcohol.

“I should get going.” Swinging her legs to the ground, she rose—and swayed.

Definitely not playing with all her cards. Laughing, he sat her back down and started dressing her. First her white chemise. “Murphy, did you eat before you came to the club?”

“Food?” She frowned. “I had breakfast. But Pa needed help at the B&B, and I missed lunch, and then I got into writing a scene and…”

“And didn’t eat.” No wonder the alcohol had hit her hard, especially after that scene. Giving up on figuring out the historic corset-thing, he helped her stand. As he pulled the chemise down to cover her ass, his hand brushed over her hot, reddened skin.

Yeah, she really did have an adorable squeak—and he wasn’t even a sadist.

Ignoring her protests, he accompanied her into the newly remodeled all-gender locker room.

Thankfully, she remembered her lock combination.

Tiny purse. Keys. Flip-flops. And an ankle-length, brightly colored, wraparound skirt that tied at the waist. “Smart choice. You look as if you just spent the day at the beach.”

“That was the idea. I got it just for here—but it’s totally going to be my new beachwear.” She smoothed down the silky fabric. “You don’t need to accompany me. I’m not planning to drive. I’ll just sit outside and read a book on my phone until I feel less fuzzy.”

Fuck, he liked that she recognized that she shouldn’t drive and had a plan on how to deal with it. He liked her self-reliance, but there was no need to be so independent with him here. “Why do I get the impression you’re not used to having anyone around to help you?”

“I…” She shrugged. “I’m fine, Saxon, and I don’t live far from here, so worst case, I can call an Uber.”

“Good to know.” He ran a hand down her soft hair before turning on his walkie-talkie. “Yo, Jake. You two leaving soon?”

“We’re walking out now. Problem?”

“Yeah, I need to take Murphy home. I gave her a drink without realizing she hadn’t eaten all day. Can I get you to drive my car and drop it off at her place?”

“Sure, bro. We’ll wait out here for you.”

A few minutes later, driving Murphy’s car, Saxon saw that she was right. Her place was up in the Odessa area and not far from the Shadowlands—and not far from his place down toward Lake Fern.

Checking house numbers, he slowed in front of a dirty-white stucco duplex. Her driveway had two cars in it, and there were more vehicles parked in front of the one-story building. She must have a roommate. Or did he have the wrong address?

He started to ask her, but she was sound asleep.

Taking a closer look at the house, he spotted the number. This was it.

Making a U-turn, he parked across the street. Driving Saxon’s SUV, Jake parked nearby and got out. Rainie had followed with Jake’s vehicle and simply pulled off to one side.

Saxon met Jake halfway. “Thanks for the delivery service.”

“Not a problem.” Handing over the keys, Jake eyed Murphy who was still sound asleep. “Good thing you stepped in. Rainie says she’s a sweetheart, by the way.”

“I’d have to agree.”

Jake slapped his shoulder and jogged to his car. Once he was in, Rainie waved at Saxon before pulling away.

Tucking his keys away, Saxon opened the passenger door. “Murphy. We’re here.”

Her perfectly shaped brows pulled together in an adorable frown. As her eyes opened, he could almost hear her wonder why she was on the passenger side of her own car. “What?”

Rather than looming over her, he crouched. “I drove you here, remember?”

“Master Saxon,” she murmured.

He did like the sound of his name on her lips. “We’re not in the club. Just Saxon.”

“Right, right, you brought me home.” She scrubbed her hands over her face and started to get out.

“Whoa, my sweet.” Chuckling, he stopped her, released her seatbelt, then helped her stand.

“Where… Why didn’t you park at my house? Did I give you the wrong address?” She started across the street.

“No, but—”

“What in the world?” At her house, she stared at the cars.

“Looks like your roommate is having a party.”

She gave him a confused look. “I don’t have a roommate. I live alone.”

What in the world is going on? Murphy narrowed her eyes as she walked up the sidewalk. At least the shock was clearing the cobwebs from her brain.

As did the noise. From inside came one of Travis Scott’s more obnoxious raps accompanied by shouting and shrieks of laughter.
