Embrace the Darkness (The Maura Quinn Series Book 1)(52)
Author: Ashley N. Rostek

Splat!

We both stood in stunned silence as pieces of chocolate cake fell from Jamie’s shocked face. His hand dropped from my cheek and I curled my lips inward and bit down to stop myself from laughing. I hadn't exactly been thinking. I'd just reacted, wanting him to stop giving me those damn puppy dog eyes.

His surprise quickly washed away once he saw I was struggling not to laugh. His tongue slipped out to get a taste of the cake coating his lips before his hand wiped most of it off his face. “Do you feel better?” he grumbled. I could tell he wasn’t mad at me. The laughter in his eyes gave him away.

“Seeing how I was never mad at you to begin with? Yeah, I feel great.”

He nodded before the hand that had swiped away most of the cake from his face came up to mine and rubbed all over my mouth, cheek, and neck. I squealed as he smeared the remnants of the cake on my skin and I fought to hold back his hand from doing any more damage. He outsmarted me by wrapping his other arm around my back, pinning me closer to him before he started rubbing his face against mine. He chuckled evilly as I struggled to get away.

“Jamie!” I laughed, letting go of his cake-covered hand to push against his chest. Stupid move on my part because he just snaked those sticky fingers into my hair to get a better hold. I tried to dip backward, putting all my weight in his arms. He, of course, held me effortlessly.

“You started this,” he snickered before his lips slid over mine.

Smelling the chocolate on him, my tongue slipped out and licked at his lips. Jamie and chocolate? Yes, please! “Hmm…” I moaned.

He smiled against my lips. “Do I taste good?” he teased, his voice sounding husky. Oh, yeah.

My arms went up around his neck and I ran my fingers in his hair, pushing him more firmly against my lips. I deepened our kiss by plunging my chocolate-coated tongue into his mouth and brushed it along his.

We kissed, sucked, and licked at each other until it became too much and we had to break apart. Our breathing was labored. I felt hot and achy. I knew he felt the same from the hard bulge pressing into my stomach. Unable to control myself, I rocked myself against it.

“Maura,” he growled in warning.

I bit my lip to keep from smiling. I grabbed ahold of the lapels on his jacket. He let me push him backward until the back of his thighs hit the back of the couch.

I reached for his belt. “There’s another place I’d like to lick chocolate from,” I said as I undid his belt and pants. His eyes darkened with understanding. I pushed down his pants and briefs and let them fall at his ankles. I grabbed his cake-covered hand and brought it to his cock. “Stroke yourself,” I ordered, releasing his hand and taking a step back to watch.

His hand wrapped around the base of his thick member. With hooded eyes, he stroked upward to the tip before pulling back, smearing chocolate cake crumbles and frosting along the shaft. I licked my lips, imagining what he was going to taste like.

My eyes flicked back to his. “Rest against the couch and hold on.” He did as he was told. I knelt before him. My fingers slowly brushed against his thighs. Staring up at him, I dipped forward. My tongue lapped at his length, tasting the chocolate cake before I glided him into my mouth, wrapping my lips around the mushroom tip. I swirled my tongue and sucked more of him into my mouth until he touched the back of my throat. Then I pulled back, sucking and grazing my teeth along his sensitive flesh as I went.

He hissed and removed his hand from the couch. I caught his wrist firmly before he could reach me and released him from my mouth. I gave him an evil smile and warned, “If you touch me, I’ll stop.” I wanted to be in control while I touched him, knowing it was all me making him come undone.

He didn’t argue, letting me guide his hand back to the couch. I grabbed him at the base of his cock and licked along his length while staring in his lust-filled eyes, then took him back into my mouth. I sucked, hollowing out my cheeks, and bobbed, taking him in as far as I could while stroking what didn’t fit.

His grip on the couch tightened, turning his knuckles white. His chest heaved with labored breaths and when his hips thrusted forward uncontrollably, I smiled around him.

“Fuck, baby,” he groaned, and his head fell backward with rapture.

Once his legs began to shake, I knew he was close. I took him in even deeper, to the point that my eyes watered while my hand cupped his balls, massaging them.

His head fell forward to watch me as he swelled and began pulsing on my tongue. Jets of cum hit the back of my throat and I continued to suck on him until his pulsing subsided. Then, my lips released him with a pop.

In a lust-induced haze, Jamie lifted me to my feet and slammed his lips down onto mine. He kissed me so passionately, my toes curled and I melted in his arms.

He broke away and rested his forehead on mine. “I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you,” he said breathlessly while running his hand up and down my back.

“Ditto,” I replied and his body shook with silent laughter.

CHAPTER 27

I woke the next day to the sound of my bedroom phone ringing. I ran my hand down the other side of the bed in search of Jamie, finding it empty. It was morning, but I had no idea of the time. Turning, I reached over to my nightstand and picked up the black corded landline.

“Hello,” I mumbled into the phone.

“It’s eleven in the morning, Maura,” Stefan said on the other end.

Is it? Oh, well. I always slept more while on my period. It was honestly safer for everyone the longer I spent in bed. I rubbed my eyes and stretched. “What’s up, Stefan?”

“I’ll be home in an hour. Meet me in my study. There’s something I need to discuss with you.”

Discuss with me? I didn’t know if it was just me, but when a parent said they needed to talk to you, I immediately thought, Oh, shit, what did I do?

“Okay. I’ll be there,” I told him, and I returned the phone to its cradle.

As I sat in one of the chairs in front of his desk, my stomach was a knotted mess and my back was stiff. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and it certainly was not what I would have guessed when I'd met Stefan in his study.

“Do you understand what I’m telling you?” His tone was low and serious.

I released a heavy sigh before slouching back in my chair, deflated by the news. “How sure are you?”

“I’m sure. I just don’t know how or why and I’m not quite sure who exactly, but it’s either Samuel or Dylan or both.”

Please don’t let it be Dylan.

“I want you to be the one to look into this. You’re still on the outside of the business. You’ll have fresh eyes and if you start poking around into things, you’ll have shadowing as an excuse and you’re most likely to be underestimated if caught. I’m going to provide you with all the books and the flash drive. Those will give you a crash course on how we run our drugs. I’m also going to put my tech specialist at your disposal. He typically doesn’t leave his home but is making an exception and will be staying here until we find what we need. He’s not really a people person. No one in the family has met him in person apart from Jameson and myself. He should be here any minute.”

I was speechless. All I could do was sit there while I processed. Something weird was happening on the drug front of the family business. The money the family brought in had dropped drastically in the past couple of years. Samuel was in charge of the drugs and his excuse was the economy: there weren’t enough people who could afford to pay the asking price.
