Tree Of Souls (Transfusion Saga #6)(18)
Author: Stephanie Hudson

“Jesus, you are fucking insane…hot, but fucking insane.”

“Tonight, then you can bet your ass I am, but I am also gonna bet that those bleeding guys of yours aren’t looking too bad right now and a quick trip to the ER is all it will take for them to be right as rain and you, my friend, will be sitting pretty, all because some crazy chick drove in here after having the worst fucking day of her life and decided a nice vacation from life looked good right about now, starting with a car that can’t be traced…so whatcha say…we got a deal?” I said holding my free hand out ready for him to shake and after giving me a probing look for a few seconds, he asked,

“You gonna give me back my gun?”

“I don’t know, you gonna play nice with it or do I have to take it off you again, only this time accidentally on purpose snapping something important when I get it back?” I said, making my point and in turn making him grin huge this time.

“Mmm, fuck I knew I would like you,” was his strange and obviously aroused reply.

“Feeling’s mutual…of course, that will change the second you try and shoot me again.” He gave me a toothy grin this time and nodded,

“I think we have an understanding, Doll.” I gave him a head nod in return and handed him back the gun, hoping that my act of good faith would gain me respect instead of a bullet. But then I picked up the knife I had dropped close by, wiping the blood on the leg of the guy whose balls weren’t gonna be working great for a while and told Big B with a grin,

“I’m keeping this though.” He laughed and said,

“Sugar, I am thinking you could do more damage with that than I ever could with this, but I respect the trade,” he said tucking his gun in the waistband of his belted jeans after first lifting up his t-shirt showing the hint of rippled abs. Doing it like the badass gangster and motioning with a nod of his head for me to follow him. I looked behind me as the men on the floor, that I had put there, started to come around. This was of course helped by Big B, after he had kicked a few out of the way, making them groan after he had grumbled,

“Useless fuckers.” Then he held a hand out to me like a gentleman to help me over the pool of blood that came from the tyre iron man. Who, I should probably mention, was looking paler by the minute and was by far the worse off.

“Alright, ya sexy bitch, what is it you need?” he asked after leading me into the other part of the garage.

“Now that, Big B, you can call me,” I told him before walking closer to the line of sweet rides and I felt his gaze on me as I did so.

“Fast and Furious fan, eh?” I asked referring to the mean glossy black 1970 Dodge Charger RT, that I recognised as being driven by Vin Diesel in the movie. Although this one was minus the shiny chrome supercharger raised from the hood. He winked at me and said,

“But of course.”

“It’s nice, but for me its Eleanor every time,” I said walking over towards the utterly gorgeous 1967 Mustang Fastback Gt500.

“These are all the legit cars we have, and you can pick anyone but that one.” I raised a brow at him and said,

“Gone in 60 seconds? A little cliché for you, don’t you think?” He shrugged his shoulders and replied,

“If the shoe fits.”

I smirked to myself as I turned back to the line of muscle cars and saw my choices were a 1969 Chevy Camero SS in candy apple red, an Orange and Black 1969 Barracuda and a beautiful 1960 GTO Pontiac in midnight blue. But for me right now there was only one that seemed to fit, so I told him with my mind firmly set,

“Alright, in that case then I will take the Dodge.”

“Fuck, I knew you were gonna say that! You sure, Dollface? I’ve got a sexy 1967 Chevy Impala Sport out back?” he asked showing the mask of a true wheeler dealer.

“I’ll pass,” I said giving him a knowing look after already running my fingers along the hood of the sleek and sexy looking Dodge.

“Not a Supernatural fan, huh?” I smirked back at him over my shoulder and replied cryptically,

“Oh, Big B, if only you knew.”

A short time later I was handing him the keys to my dad’s Ferrari, knowing that it would cost him a car, but hoping all the same that one day he would get it back. Because you didn’t dissect a car like this. No, this one would be in a container within the hour, I could bet my life on it.

I felt bad that I had stolen it from dad and hated that I was given no choice, but I was on a mission and one day when this was all over…he would understand that. After all, lives were at stake, my mum’s included. And despite the ruins of our relationship, her life and even Lucius’ still meant something to me. Even if I had absolutely no intention of being a part of them again.

“So, what’s the plan here, Sugar, you going on the run or what?” Big B asked when there was nothing left but for me to say goodbye.

“What gave it away?” I asked as I pulled my case from the passenger’s side and carried it over to the Dodge that he’d had one of his guys (not a broken one, but recently arrived) drive out of the shop for me. He gave me a wry look in return and said,

“Wow, that guy must have really done a number on you.” His comment made me wince as the raw and recent memory assaulted me, one I had been purposely trying to hold back until I could afford the time allocated for such a mental breakdown. Which was why what I said next, I did so in a stone-cold way,

“Yeah, well I caught him kissing my mother so…what do you think?” His eyes got wide and hissed through his teeth before saying,

“Fuck, yeah, that would do it.”

I put the bag in the trunk and took off my bloodstained jacket, throwing it in there before pulling my shirt out of the tight waistband of my skirt. I swear, I nearly moaned aloud just thinking about the shower I would have the second I found a motel for the night.

“Look, I know that after what you did to my guys…well, I should tell you to…”

“Fuck off and go to Hell?” I finished for him with a knowing grin, one that died the second he said,

“Yeah, but seeing as I reckon you’re halfway there already with the shit you got going on, I gotta ask, do you even know where you’re headed?” I released a heavy sigh and slammed the trunk shut before telling him,

“Probably best you don’t know.” He accepted this knowledge with a head nod, knowing it was meant in case someone came looking for me, which I had a feeling would happen.

“Well, if you’re serious about disappearing then I know a guy,” he said making me frown in confusion before he pulled out his phone and rang someone,

“Jimmy, it’s Big B, yeah I got a job for you. I’m sending you this chick who needs a new ID…yeah man, the works, put it on my tab…yeah, fuck she’s hot but I wouldn’t try touching her, this bitch will break your fucking arm and bite your dick off at the same time!” I raised a brow at the same time putting my hands on my hips and making him chuckle with my sass. Then he hung up the phone and told me an address of where to find Jimmy.

“Why did you do that?” I asked in shock.

“Because you got balls and in my line of work, I respect anyone with the balls to do what you did and survive it…besides, I’ve been to that same Hell myself when I caught my bitch fucking my brother, so we got shit in common.” I winced at the pain that would cause him also, not really thinking it a good idea to point out that he might not have been cheated on had he not referred to his woman as ‘my bitch’. But then the bad guy was being nice to me, so I didn’t think it wise to push my luck.
