Tug of War(62)
Author: T.L Osborn

We’re interrupted by a knock on the door. “Hey guys, I know you are busy, but uh...guests are arriving,” Sasha calls through the door.

Damn it. I really want the chance to give him my gift.

Sitting in the room full of my family, who is here celebrating my daughter’s first birthday is an amazing moment. I seriously thought I’d miss this.

I lift my whiskey to my lips and take a sip as my eyes focus on Stephanie across the room. She’s sitting on the couch with my sister, a glass of wine in her hand. Tonight, she has on a little black dress which crisscrosses around her neck, hugging all her curves in every right place. Her tits are enhanced, and so are her hips and ass. Her legs are in stockings, but so long and crossed at the ankles and she’s wearing black high heels. The dress needs to come off but not the shoes. Those shoes look so fucking good on her.

Fuck, I wish everyone would go home so I can get her naked.

Stephanie looks at me as she sweeps her hair away from her neck. A soft pink blush fills her face as she takes a sip of her drink. Toby slaps me on the arm and leans down, handing a little black box to me, so she doesn’t notice.

“It’s ready when you are.”

“Thanks.” I stand up and walk across the room. I hold out my hand to Stephanie. “Come with me.”

She puts her glass down and stands up. Lou is still awake, and I scoop her into my arms. Everyone thinks we’re going to put her to bed, but we’re not.

Walking them both upstairs towards our room, I stop Stephanie outside the door.

Part of my plan fell through when it started raining earlier, so I have to do it inside.

“Jake, what’s going on?” she asks.

“Go inside,” I prompt.

She walks into the bedroom, and I see that Sasha has outdone herself. She’s decorated the room with candles, and she placed the roses I bought Stephanie earlier in the day all over the room. It’s not the most romantic setting, but I can’t think of a better place to propose than in the room I fell in love with her in.

“Jake, what is this?” Stephanie asks, turning around, finding me on one knee with Lou holding the ring box.

“Stephanie Morrison, I know we’ve done things backwards. We had a baby before the wedding, but that won’t stop me from giving you the wedding of your dreams. I never knew the love of my life was right beneath my nose this entire time.”

She clutches her hands to her face. “I love you so much, and I had originally planned to do this during the maternity photoshoot for Lou, but she decided I wasn’t allowed to do it without her around. Will you make me the happiest man alive and become my wife?”

She nods, but no words form. I stand up.

“I need words, baby.”

“Yes! Yes! Yes!”

I try to pry the box out of Lou’s hands, but she won’t budge. Instead, I open the box and get the ring out, sliding it onto Stephanie’s finger. I shut the box and set Lou down who is happily playing with it, then pull Stephanie into a kiss, devouring her and telling her everything I need her to know in one gesture.

“I have my dress to design, and for the first time ever, I have absolutely no idea what I want.”

I chuckle. “You better decide because I’m not waiting another year to marry you.”

“How does January sound for a wedding?” she asks.

“Perfect.”

Picking her up, I spin her around before pouring us both a glass of champagne. We re-join the group moments later to be surprised by cheers of excitement and champagne.

Aria hands Stephanie a glass.

“Did you know he was going to propose?” Stephanie asks her.

“Yeah, I did. We all did.”

Stephanie looks at me with a scowl. “I’ll wipe that look off your face later, my love,” I tell her.

“We going to practise making another baby?”

“Practise makes perfect, right?” I chuckle.

“I don’t know, Lou is perfect, and we didn’t try for her.”

“Are you telling me you want another baby?” I ask.

“After the wedding.” She winks at me.

I still can’t believe I found the love of my life with her. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her, and I’ll do everything in the world to make her my wife, then I’ll get her pregnant again.

One Year later

Today is the day I marry Stephanie. My best friend, the love of my life and the mother to our adorable Lou. Things have changed so much over the last year. Stephanie and I have bought the house she wanted, and much to Toby’s dismay, it’s right across the road from his house. We also adopted a Maltese-Shih Tzu cross puppy named Tiggy.

Toby and Sasha got married, then went on a honeymoon for a month, travelling all over the USA. They’re currently trying for a baby. Aria and I both think they’re going to have twins like James and Riley. After two years of trying unsuccessfully to have a baby, they decided to give up and just enjoy being together as a couple for a while when they got the surprise of a lifetime when she got pregnant.

Simon and Aria are still as sickly sweet in love as they ever have been. Aria wants a third child, but honestly, I don’t think Simon does. I think he’s quite happy with his girls. I think he’ll cave though; he can’t say no when Aria asks for something. She doesn’t usually ask him for much, which is why he gives in to her.

Stephanie and I chose to get married at a winery in Masterton, and we stayed at a local hotel the night before. She wanted an intimate wedding. My groomsmen and friends arrive to celebrate the morning with me.

Toby enters, followed by Michael, Simon and James. Toby grabs some glasses from the hotel cupboard as Simon pops open the bottle of whiskey.

“Here’s to your funeral,” James jokes. I laugh as we all clink our glasses. “But seriously, well done and we wish you both all the best,” he adds.

“Thanks,” I reply.

“I, however, was told that the bride-to-be couldn’t wait and ended up staying here last night.” Simon chuckles. Toby throws me a grin.

“You’re all just jealous that I got laid the night before my wedding,” I boast, taking a sip of my drink.

“Seriously though, bro, congratulations. I bet Steph is going to look stunning,” Toby says.

“I know she will. It took her nearly the entire year to decide what sort of dress she wanted.”

A year of a lot of tears and paper balls for the dog to chase around the house. Lou adores him to bits.

“Well, she did, and now you’re getting married.”

“Sucker.” James laughs.

“You’re the one about to welcome twins into this world and girls too. Good luck with that.” I laugh. He throws me a scowl, but his eyes light up with excitement.

I drain my whiskey and pour another. I take a mouthful as the door to my room opens. In walks Aria, all dressed up and ready to walk down the aisle. She’s followed into the room by Riley.

“What are you doing here?” Simon asks as he swings her into his arms and plants a kiss on her lips.

“I’m here to see my brother on his wedding day.” He lowers her to the ground, and she comes over. “You look so handsome.”
