Love is Contagious : A Charity Anthology(213)
Author: J. Saman

“Or… we could stay here.” I take a breath in while my hands make their way to his pants. I don’t care who hears us or sees us. I need my man in my mouth now.

“They’ll hear,” he says, pointing toward the other room, but grunts loudly when I grab his cock.

“See if I care.” I drag his pants down his legs and bring my mouth to his dick, my tongue leaving a wet trail on his briefs.

“Fuck!” he growls. “I love when you suck me through my underwear.”

“I love your dick, and I especially love that it’s mine.”

He tilts my head up, and looking into his eyes, I see a long future for us, complete with vacations up to the farm, Thanksgiving dinner with our LA family, and fights that always end up with angry sex against a wall. I would have never thought the giant comic strip would hold the key to my happiness.

He leans in and kisses me softly, tugging on my hair.

“I love you too, Dextyn, so fucking much. Where are we going on vacation after you suck me?”

“Wherever you want to go, I’ll follow you.”

“Corny much?” Luke says with a deep laugh.

“Fucking in love!” I answer, getting lost in his eyes and bringing his dick to my mouth.

“Fucking. In. Love.”

“You are not moving to New York City,” Virginia says through the screen of Dex’s phone.

“The fuck I’m not,” Asher answers through the same screen.

I sigh my annoyance to Dex, who pats my forearm under the table, asking for a little more patience.

“This is bullshit, Asher. What are you going to do there, seriously?”

Dex clears his throat, trying to interrupt Virginia’s ire. “Listen, Virge, it’s a good idea for him, his music—”

Of course, she doesn’t let him finish his thought. “You shut up! This is all your fault!”

Five years ago, Dex would have tensed and snapped at her. I’m ready to pounce, but again, Dex calms me, moving his hand to my thigh.

Instead of screaming, he laughs. “How is this my fault?”

“You going all fucking hippie, growing your hair and living in upstate New York. You’re giving him stupid ideas.”

Dex and I moved to upstate New York four years ago. It started as a sabbatical, but we decided to stay, and we haven’t regretted a moment of it. I’m still a partner at the tattoo parlor in LA, and opened a new Gritt Your Skin in New York City, which keeps me busy, and Dex is still helping here and there and giving legal advice to whoever needs it. But mainly, we’re enjoying our lives, traveling and spending time with my family. I was surprised when Dex said he wanted to live here, but as he put it, he’s never felt more alive than when he stayed at the farm after his breakdown. We’re happy here, and no family feud or plans to move to the Big Apple can fuck up our lives.

“Angel, be reasonable. Asher moving is not the end of the world. He’s twenty-five. It’s time for him to spread his wings,” Ryan says.

Logan, their adoptive son, is now ten, and Ryan keeps hinting that having one kid in the house is more than enough. Virginia has become very overprotective of Asher though and clearly has some issues letting him go.

“Sure!” Virginia answers in a mean, sarcastic tone I didn’t know she could use. “Next what? He’s going to herd goats like his uncle?”

“I’m not herding goats!” Dex protests. “We have a few chickens but—”

“You shut up, I said!”

That’s enough. My patience has run thin. Nobody talks to my man that way, especially not after all he did for them for years.

Putting us first was an adjustment for everyone at the beginning. Ian and Jules had question after question, and Virginia cried as if our move to New York was the end of the world. I tried to blame menopause. The shiner I sported for the next two weeks taught me that wasn’t what I should have said. Only Ryan and Ash were happy about our move. Dex misses his friends, but surprisingly, he doesn’t miss trying to tighten up every loose end in their lives. He’s happily not controlling anything but me most of the time—when I let him.

“Enough, Virge! Don’t talk to my husband that way!” I say.

I hate FaceTiming with them. Dex always gets emotional afterward, asking me to go to LA to see them, which we do every quarter. Then they always fight about stupid shit. Not that Asher’s moving is stupid. Dex and I arranged for him to stay at a friend's and work for him. The kid needs to fly alone, without Mommy clipping his wings and holding his talons.

“He’s not your husband”—she breathes her fire at me—“and you already took my quasi-brother away. Now you're taking my son to your fucking east coast? So you shut up as well!”

“Virginia…” I warn, ready to cut every communication.

Again, Dex calms my temper with his hand on me, but this time, he finds my crotch and rubs his palm against my dick. I try not to growl and give away what’s going on on our side of the country.

Dex smirks. He doesn't care if they know. There isn’t much Dex cares about anymore regarding who knows what we do and where. We got caught last week in my parents' kitchen. If my dad was a little horrified, Dex laughed and told my dad he could give Bella some pointers if needed. To which my father said no pointers were needed. I was the only one throwing up in my mouth by the end of the discussion.

“Mom, seriously, it would be good for me. I need a change of pace.”

Asher’s fragile voice stops Dex’s hand on me. I know he’s worried for his nephew. Since Asher got dumped five years ago, he hasn’t been the same. He doesn’t put his heart into anything except his music, and even then, only sometimes. It's something he shared with that girl. Moving to New York City is Asher’s attempt to find her, since he saw a video of her playing in the street.

“What would you do in New York City?” Virginia asks, crossing her arms.

“Luke and I arranged for him to stay with a friend of ours and work at Ol’s.”

“Ol?”

“Oliver,” I say, annoyed my dick is getting flaccid again. I can see from her face she has no idea who we’re talking about. “Friend of Jules? Anna’s brother?”

“Okay. And?”

“Well, I’ll play at his bar and work shifts sometimes,” Asher says.

“You’re going to play at a bar in New York City?”

“I am.”

“And you are okay with that, Dex?” she asks.

“Of course I am. If that’s what he wants to do and it makes him happy, why not?”

“Fucking hippie,” she mutters

“Look, angel, let him go. He knows he can come back whenever he wants… or not at all,” Ryan says.

Asher nods his thank you, and Dex rubs my dick again.

“But not to find the fucking teacher,” Virginia says. “This is insane!”

“She was just a sub, Mom. She’s an artist—”

“An artist who dumped you and then disappeared. There’s a big chance she doesn’t want you to find her!”
