Author: Brooklyn Knight

“Come on. Let’s get drinks and then I wanna’ get you on the dancefloor and show you the moves I practiced last night.”

Evan hadn’t been lying when he said he had moves. In fact, he had moves for every genre of music the DJ played. We went from rock and roll, to country, and all the way around to trap music and R&B. The entire time, his hands were on my body, and hell, mine were on his: taking copious notes related to the ebbs and flow of muscle that outlined his arms and chest; but one muscle had my jaw tight. It was the one digging into the crotch of my jeans as we slowed danced to a ‘90s jam.

By now, we’d had a few drinks in and I was looser than I’d ever been in my life. Evan’s hands danced over my curves, firm and tender, before settling on my ass. I sighed into his neck, becoming inebriated by his cologne, loving the way his hand felt on my body.

Oh my God, he is so perfect. I may end up being his girl before the week is out.

Evan squeezed my ass. “Tasha, I’m having a really good time,” he revealed. Then his mouth dropped to mine and he slowly ran his tongue over the edge of my bottom lip.

The panties were completely soaked. The pussy was on fire.

“When are we gonna’ see each other again?”

I hummed, lost in the space we’d created. The party was jam-packed, but as far as I was concerned, the only two people who existed were me and fine-ass Evan.

“We’re not even finished the first date and you want a second? You must want this pussy really badly.”

He chuckled, but it sounded dry. “Fuck Tasha, I’d take your pussy in a heartbeat, if you’d give it to me,” he admitted. “But I just wanna’ be with you a little more,” he said. “You’re making me smile. You’re making me laugh.” He paused. “You’re making me happy.”

I pulled back and looked into his face. The light shade of his green eyes had deepened, and his lids looked weighted.

He was serious.

The kiss that followed was the logical next step.

Evan’s tongue arrested mine in a slow, sweet show of affection, and he cupped the back of my head with his hand. His fingers tangled in the stray hairs, which had fallen out of my top knot, and I shivered, wanting to feel how powerful he was, more than anything I could think of.

Evan released a groan that traveled down my throat and into the pit of my belly and he pulled me closer, like he couldn’t get enough.

Reluctantly I pulled away from his lips, conscious of all the inquisitive eyes which were suddenly on us, but Evan didn’t seem to give a damn.

“Was that too much?” he growled, eyes still pinned onto my lips. “I’m not trying to pressure you into anything, but damn Tasha…” He went in for another kiss, still swaying me to the slow rhythm, and I tasted him again. Already, I was addicted and planning ways to get another taste between classes and studying; but I needed to be in control.

I pulled away again, eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings. “I’m gonna’ refresh my drink,” I said running my finger through the thin curtain of hair on his cheek.

“Need me to go with you?”

“I’m a big girl. I’ve got it,” I replied, and then I stumbled away, praying that it didn’t topple out of my boots, thanks to the way my legs were wobbling like jelly.

I could feel Evan’s eyes on me the whole time and when I reached the punch bowl, I dipped two healthy ladles of the rum concoction into a plastic cup. Then, I pressed it against my lips and scanned the party scene.

This party catered to the high and mighty on campus. I wasn’t high or mighty, but low self-esteem had never been an issue for me, no matter I was one of only a few black faces in the place. Besides, the way Evan couldn’t take his eyes off me boosted me a couple more notches. Those green eyes were locked onto me, and when he pressed his fingers onto his lips and advanced them in my direction, I couldn’t resist the urge to giggle like an idiot.

Suddenly, a presence descended upon me and a group of Valley Girls surrounded me, like we were kids on a playground about to go at it. It was the same group of girls who’d been stabbing me with their eyes yesterday outside of the lecture hall. The ringleader was the one with blue eyes and long blond hair. I could tell by the way the other girls congregated behind her like backup in a singing group.

“So, are you and Evan a thing?” she asked, flicking her hair for no reason.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard what she said,” a troll from behind her called out, but Valley Girl Number One held her hand up and silenced her.

“I asked you a simple question,” she said quirking a brow. “You and Evan Hanson – ”

“Evan and I are friends,” I informed her, cutting her off, “though even if it was more than that, I don’t see how it would be any of your business.”

The girl glared at me and I glared back, not sure who the hell she was supposed to be, but more than sure, she didn’t know who I was.

Then a thought crossed my mind: is she Evan’s girl?

A thin smile stretched her lips and she shook her head, giving me a scathing once over. “You don’t know who you’re messing with,” she muttered between her teeth. “I’m telling you, little girl. Evan is way out of your league. If you don’t wanna’ get hurt, my advice is to leave him alone.”

My jaw flexed.

“Don’t start feeling all special,” she advised further. “You think you’re the first piece of pussy he’s tried to get all night? Shit, on our way over here, he was hollering at me, and trust me when I tell you, I’m more of his type than you’d ever be.”

“Skank…” someone from behind her said.

I looked over her shoulder and made eye contact with Evan. The minute he saw the congregation, he excused himself from whatever conversation he was in and marched over.

Valley Girl Number One glanced in his direction and started to head off, but before she left, she said: “Don’t get hurt, bitch.”

Chapter Twelve

Simone

Later that morning, I was awakened by a sharp rapping on the door. I could barely open my eyes, especially since I’d just only fallen asleep. Jaxson had stormed out at two-thirty in the morning, and I’d stared at the cell phone for another half an hour, going back and forth in my mind about whether I should reach out to him.

Me, 3:10 AM: Hey. Are you awake?

My finger hovered over the send button before quickly deleting the message.

Why was I recanting? I wasn’t the one who clearly had something else going on the side. I’d done the right thing. True, the day I’d spent with him had been amazing and for a minute, I’d allowed myself to consider what it might be like to be something more permanent. I’d actually imagined what a relationship between us could look like. I didn’t know how far away he lived, but I might consider a long-distance thing, if necessary. I could travel to him and he could come back to me. We could talk on the phone every day. We could write books and work out scenes. We could…

I dropped the phone onto the bed.

My pussy was talking, I decided. Two minutes after he’d left, she started clenching in agitation, vexed that I hadn’t gotten at least one more fuck in before I’d banished him, but a small part of me couldn’t help but think that it was something more.
