“This is what you want? To come back home? If you want to stay in LA, I think we could figure it out.”
“We could, I’m sure, but I don’t want that. I don’t want to leave now that I’ve come home, Maverick. I swear I’m where I’m supposed to be.”
He moves in close and wraps me in his arms. “So, you’ve talked to Mallory about living with her?”
“Yeah, I think Dad would have wanted someone with her. She has no family left but me now. I want to get to know her better and help her with the ranch. To help you with the ranch.”
“That’s what we will do. We will be there bright and early tomorrow. You really want to help me with something at the ranch?”
“In any way, I can help, sure.”
“My experience is more the labor. But there’s so much more I was still learning from your father before he passed. I’ll need help with the business side of things. You wouldn’t happen to be looking for a job?”
