Specter's Wake(49)
Author: Quinn Ryder

When she was all done, she shoved his leg away from her. “There, Asshole, all better. Just try not to get shot again, okay?”

“Not like you care.”

She crossed her arms, “I may have been burned by you in the past, Curtis, but that doesn’t stop me from caring about you. You still hold a big piece of my heart, even if you broke it into a million tiny pieces.”

Shayne walked out of the room, leaving everyone stunned and in shock.

“She’s a bitch,” Switchblade growled. “I’m way better of a lover than that chick ever was.”

I almost wanted to laugh, but I kept my tongue. There were more pressing things to deal with other than Switchblade’s fucked up love life.

“I’m gonna go check on Obi. Let me know if you find anything,” Scythe announced, quickly exiting the room. Riptide and Jagger followed him out, but Switchblade stayed, glaring at me the whole time.

“I bet you got some sick enjoyment out of that, didn’t you, Prospect?”

“I take no pleasure out of seeing another man in pain, even if that man is someone that can be a complete asshole at times.”

“I wasn’t in pain, motherfucker.”

“Pain doesn’t have to be external,” I told him. “Sometimes wounds are buried deep inside of us. We don’t need to see the pain in order to know it’s haunting you.”

Switchblade looked at me sideways, then shook his head, “Fucking dipshit thinks he’s So Crates now.”

“It’s Socrates, pronounced Sock Ra Tees, not So Crates.” I corrected him. “And I don’t have to be a philosopher to have an opinion on what’s easily explained.”

“There’s nothing about me that’s easy to explain. I’m fucking Pandora’s box ready to erupt.”

I was about to correct him, when Cipher jumped up. “I fucking found him!”

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Guerrilla’s at a warehouse near the Saint’s clubhouse. I bet my ass that Faith’s there, too. But there’s no telling how long they’ll stay there. We need to move now.”

“Get the guns. We leave now,” Switchblade ordered. “I’ll find Scythe and get the rest of the guys. Obi’s out, he took a hard hit, but there should be enough of us to infiltrate that warehouse and extract Faith.”

I stared at Switchblade, wondering if I should move.

He started walking out the door. “Come on, Prospect, she’s going to need you when we get there. I don’t know why, but I know she will.”

He left the room, leaving me and Cipher in stunned silence.

“Did that just happen?” I asked Cipher. Trying to decipher if my mind was playing tricks on me.

“I believe it did. Better go before he changes his mind. Whatever you just said somehow softened the Minotaur. I’d take it and run with it before the angry bull returns.

Cipher printed off the coordinates for the warehouse and followed me out the door. Shayne was busy tending to Obi’s wounds again, but everyone else was outfitted and ready for battle. Rex had that same terrified look on his face, and I suddenly felt bad for the guy. I bet the kid had never seen a battle like what we had before.

“Someone should stay with Obi,” I suggested. “Rex, why don’t you stay here with Obi and Shayne, the rest of us will head to the warehouse.”

Scythe looked at me strangely but went along with it. “Yeah, someone should stay behind. Stay here, Prospect, the rest of us will do the dirty work.”

Rex looked grateful, but he played it off and just said, “Okay, Prez.”

We all piled into a black van. A cage would be less suspicious than riding up on our bikes. Ice drove, the rest of us were crouched in the back ready to hop out on command.

It took fifteen minutes to drive over to the warehouse. When we arrived, Ice parked a little up the block.

“I see two stationed outside; no telling how many more might be inside. I bet we can take the guards, though. They don’t look all that tough,” Ice said. He was holding some binoculars up to his face. “Yeah, I bet I could take them all by myself.”

“You don’t get all the fun,” Switchblade growled.

Ice looked back at him and smirked. “Not like you’re in any condition to take on anyone right now, Gimpy.”

“Fuck you, Ice.”

“Aww, I’m just having a little fun, Switchy, don’t get bitchy.”

Switchblade flipped Ice off, creating a round of snickers in the van.

“How we going to do this?” I asked.

“I say we leave the van two at a time. You and I can take out the guards since we aren’t wounded like Scythe and Switchy the Bitchy over there, then Riptide and Switchblade can follow, finally Prez and Cipher can bring up the rear. I want to make sure that there’s always someone with the wounded.” It was kind of nice to have someone with military training leading the raid. From what I gathered; Ice used to be a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps. This man knew his shit.

“On your go then, Ice,” Scythe ordered.

Ice slipped out the driver’s side door and crouched down, quickly disappearing and moving along the side of the van until he opened the back.

“Follow my lead, Prospect.” I followed Ice out of the vehicle, as we made our way closer to the building. The two men standing guard were looking at their telephones and didn’t even notice us moving in. Ice gave me two hand signals, one showing that he was going to take the guy out on the left and I’d take the one on the right. He didn’t want to use guns yet, so he slid up behind the first guard and put him in a choke hold. The second guard drew his gun, but I approached him from behind, hitting him in the back of the head with the butt of my gun. Both men went to the ground easily.

Ice gave the signal for the other men to follow him. He carefully opened the door, looking to see if any more Saints were posted inside. When he saw the coast was clear, he pushed his way in, motioning for me to follow.

“If they have her anywhere, it’s going to be up there,” he whispered, pointing to the only door that had any light. “We’ll need to sweep the bottom floor first.”

I started to follow him down the hall, but then I heard a scream, and my whole body froze.

Faith.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Faith

“This bitch is going to be fun to play with,” Marco sneered. Moving across the room.

My leg was on fire and the slightest movement made the excruciating pain even worse. Blood seeped out of the wound, dripping down my leg and pooling onto the floor.

Angelique danced around me. She had her top off, breasts bouncing with every leap she did around the room.

These two were insane.

Angelique walked up to Marco and grabbed his face. “Fuck me first, baby. Please. I want her to taste me on you when you stick your cock in her mouth.”

“What? You afraid I’ll bite your pussy too fucking hard if you stick it in my face?” I snapped.

Angelique grinned, dancing over to me. “I wouldn’t let your lips anywhere near my pussy, bitch. I know you got rabies.”

“The only bitch with rabies in here is you. Not to mention scabies, herpes, AIDS, and whatever other uglies you have festering in that diseased cooter of yours.” Angelique’s hand came across my face again, but this time I didn’t make a sound. I wasn’t going to let her win.
