Chasing Cain(18)
Author: Megs Pritchard

Archer rolled his eyes and muttered, “Oh, I’m going to my mom’s wedding tomorrow.”

“It’s my dad’s too.”

“What a coincidence...blah blah blah.”

Archer shook his head. “This is fucked up, and I might need another drink.”

Yeah, he definitely needed another drink. Hair of the dog and all that. Yeah, a drink was definitely needed. If he knew his family, and he really did, then he would have many visitors over the next few days trying to pry information out of him.

Closing his eyes, he muttered, “Shit.”

Cain peered around the corner, noting the empty reception area. Seeing Gareth and Robert he jogged over to him. “Have they left?”

“Who?”

“Everyone?”

Gareth furrowed his brow at him. “Lydia’s family just left and lucky for you, so has Anton.”

Cain nodded and bit his bottom lip. “Good. That’s good.”

“So, tell me how well you know my stepson?”

“Which one?” Cain smiled, knowing it would annoy Robert.

“Don’t get flippant with me, boy. I’ve had to deal with Anton when I should have been getting ready for my honeymoon. Tell me.”

“Dad, come on. I told you everything earlier. Things happen when you go on vacation. I’m an adult.”

“Who had sex with his stepbrother. You never said anything about being bisexual, not that it would have mattered to me.”

“I didn’t know until I met him, and if you know we had sex why are you asking me. Didn’t I already tell you this?” He couldn’t remember with everything that had happened since the wedding, but he could clearly remember having a similar discussion with Robert.

“You know this complicates things. We’re family now. You had sex with your stepbrother.”

“Holy shit, Cain. You fucked one of the Hiscocks! You’re gay now?”

Ignoring Gareth, Cain responded to Robert. “Don’t you think I don’t know that. It’s not like we knew. We only found out at the wedding. It shocked the hell outta me when I realized who he was, and I know he felt the same.”

Walter walked up, leaned on his cane staring intently at Cain. “Does it hurt?”

Cain frowned. “Does what hurt?”

Walter waved at Cain’s ass, and Cain’s mouth fell open. “You know, taking it up the ass.”

Robert sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I’m getting a headache already. Morning, Walter. How did you sleep? Was the room comfortable for you?”

“Don’t change the subject. I told you about the mattress. Now, Cain. What about shit? Does it get in the way? I mean it never did with me and my—”

“What?” Cain stared between Walter, Gareth, and Robert. “You can’t ask someone a question like that. I don’t know!”

Ignoring him, Walter spoke again. “Taking it up the ass. What do you do with your shit?”

“Oh my god. I’m not talking about that with you. Dad, make him stop.”

“I think you need to take the stick—or is that dick—out of your ass. You’re too wound up. Get hold of my grandson. He likes to give it to a man. Don’t know what’s wrong with you men not liking women. Nothing like a woman. All warm and wet—”

“Dad!” Cain practically shouted. He ignored Gareth—who was laughing so hard, tears were leaking from the corners of his eyes. Robert dropped his head, shaking it slowly.

“Now come on, Walter. Let’s go find Lydia.”

“Lydia’s a great daughter, Robert, but if you hurt her, I’ll shove my cane so far up your ass...”

Walter’s voice disappeared the farther he and Robert got, and Cain turned to Gareth, his mouth still open. “What the fuck just happened?”

“Was Walter really gonna tell us about screwing his own wife’s ass?” Gareth stared after Walter and Robert.

“The man has no shame.”

“Nah, he has no filter. No topic is off limits to him.”

Cain grabbed his suitcase and stared at the doorway Walter and Robert had disappeared through. “I’m staying away from him.”

“Archer looked good in his suit.”

“Oh fuck off, Gareth. I didn’t know who he was. Everyone needs to get over it and move on, and I need to find someone and get laid.”

“You call him. I’m sure he could fit you in.” Gareth leered at Cain then started giggling.

“You’re a shit brother, you know that?”

“Nah, you love me really. Devon!”

Cain watched Devon dragging Savannah through the reception area, with Helena trailing behind them. He looked angry, his face set in hard lines, his jaw clenched and Savannah? She was covered in something Cain couldn’t even begin to figure out.

“Morning.” Devon grunted as the stormed passed. “I need to take Savannah to the car and lock her in and then we can check out. Helena stay here with your uncles.”

“Yes, Papa.”

He picked Savannah up and threw her over his shoulder, and she immediately screamed and kicked him. “Stop that right now, young lady or I’ll throw all your dolls out.”

The screaming only increased, and Cain winced. He’d always thought about having a wife and a family of his own, but at that second, he was seriously reconsidering it. He caught another scream and stared at Gareth.

Gareth slapped him on the back. “Don’t think I’m gonna have kids.”

“Me either. We weren’t that bad. Were we?”

“You think that’s why she dumped us and ran?”

Cain shook his head. “I don’t know why she left. Her loss, though and Dad did a great job raising us.”

“Except for Anton. What the fuck is wrong with him? I just don’t get his attitude.”

“He’s always been different. More religious and bigoted. I hate to say it because he’s our brother, but there’s something wrong with him. I think he might need to see someone.”

“Like a therapist?” Cain nodded. “Yeah, I think you’re right. How do we get him to see he needs help? He isn’t the easiest to be around, and he’s become more hateful and spiteful recently.”

“I’m glad he’s not my brother.” Knox grinned at them and Cain noticed the lipstick on his collar. Also, where the hell did he come from?

He waved his hand over the stain. “Your collar.”

If it was possible, Knox’s grin got wider. “She gives good head, but I heard men do it better. Got five minutes, Cain?” Cain stared, his eyes widening until Knox laughed. “Archer would nail my nuts to the wall if I so much as looked at you like that. You must give really good head. Maybe I should ride the gay train and see what pound town is like.”

“You’re like Walter.”

Knox sighed with his hand on his chest. “I try to emulate him. He has a distinct personality, one I hope to do justice to when I grow older.”

“Go to some gay resort.” Gareth checked his cell. “I need to get going. You can look after munchkin here.”

Cain winced, having completely forgotten about Helena. “Great.
