Cocky Contender(10)
Author: J.M. Kelley

She’s toned and tiny and seems to be holding her own around here. When I watch her work out, and she does those unholy squats with those strong, athletic legs and tight little ass of hers, I can’t help thinking about her bouncing up and down on my dick.

There’s undeniable chemistry between us. I don’t know what it is, but I know I want more. The first time I met Mila, I immediately had a craving for her.

More than looks though, I can tell what kind of person she is. I can definitely see myself settling down with a woman like her. It’s more than her perky breasts and curvy ass. Something about her makes my chest flutter. I need to know more.

I’m already protective of her. I almost flipped out the other day when Vinny was harassing her in the locker room. There’s an ocean of assholes in this place, flexing their tiny, little guppie muscles to impress her. The way they gawk at her when she’s not paying attention makes me want to punch them in the throat.

I’ve asked Mila to have lunch with me every day so far, and each time she’s turned me down. I’m not giving up. I will wear her down with my Italian stallion charm.

Mila is a little closed off, and I’m not quite sure what she’s hiding, but I’m determined to find out everything about her.

There’s a soft knock on the doorjamb as I plop down on the comfy, new couch I bought yesterday for my office.

“Leah said you wanted to see me?” Mila says, sliding her hands into the back pockets of her cutoff shorts. Not a stitch of makeup on, and she looks like a beautiful angel.

“Come.” I pat the seat next to me on the leather sofa. “Try out my new couch.”

“You want me to sit on the porn couch?” She scrunches up her face before her lips curl up into a cute little grin.

Some of the guys were making fun of it yesterday, saying it looked like your typical black leather porn couch, and I guess they let Mila in on the joke

“I got this couch for a steal from a guy I know,” I chuckle. “I didn’t realize you watch porn too.”

“Sure, but only on the weekends,” she says in a monotone voice, rolling her eyes as she plops down next to me.

“Too bad it’s only Thursday. We could watch together.”

“What do you want, Marco?” she sighs.

“I’m wearing you down, I can tell.”

“Not even a little,” she deadpans.

“I wanted to give you your pay for the week.”

“Oh…thanks.” She takes the envelope from my hand and peeks inside.

“This looks like too much, Marco.” Her brows knit together in confusion.

“You had a large hand in this.” I lean forward and slide the large manila folder from the coffee table—pulling out some of the signs and posters Leah had her friend print up. “Leah said you basically designed the entire thing.”

Mila has fallen into a nice routine here and always goes above and beyond with her job. But when Leah showed me the graphics Mila came up with, I couldn’t stop smiling.

“Leah told me about your ideas for marketing also. You’re talented. The campaign is classic yet fresh. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. I know you have a college degree…I feel like you’re wasting it working in a place like this. Not that I want to lose you, but…you could be doing something so much better.”

I thought she’d be proud, but her eyes flicker with a hint of something surprising, a mix of anger and fear. “I don’t want to do anything else right now.”

“If you change your mind, I know a guy who works for an ad agency…I could talk to him,” I say, feeling bad I upset her. I’m not quite sure what’s causing her animosity.

“Not interested.” She stands. “Thanks,” she replies curtly, waving the envelope of cash. “Stop trying to impress me with, I know a guy.” She imitates my voice, making quotation marks with her fingers. “Which reminds me, have you heard anything about my car?”

“Not yet,” I lie, afraid she’s just waiting to get her car back so she can split, and I’ll never see her again. “Sal said he needs a couple more days…waiting on a part.” I don’t tell her it was only the battery and some belts, and it’s sitting in Sal’s garage, already fixed.

“Once I get my car back, I can sleep somewhere else and get out of your hair.”

“Mila…” I growl. “I told you, you can stay as long as you like. The space isn’t being used anyway, plus…I like having you around.”

“Okay.” She smirks. “Thank you,” she pauses in the doorway, “…and even though I didn’t need you too, thank you for stepping in with that Vincent guy the other day.” She fights back her tears, and it damn near guts me.

“Why don’t you thank me properly by letting me buy you a late lunch?” I ask anxiously. Jesus, I haven’t been this nervous around a girl since high school.

“You need to give up, Marco.” She folds her arms over her chest. “I’m not interested.”

“Challenge accepted.”

“Get over yourself.”

“Don’t deny it.” I stand and face her. “You like me, I can tell.”

“What? No.”

“Keep telling yourself that. You’re in denial.” I loom closer, not missing the way her breath quickens.

“Stop being a brute.” She swats me on the bicep with a chuckle. “Whatever you think is going to happen, it’s never going to happen. By the way…do you even own a shirt that doesn’t look like the seams are about to burst every time you flex a muscle?” she snaps with a fake smile.

“Someone’s been checking me out.” I wriggle my eyebrows with a grin.

“Pfft…I do not check you out. There’s plenty of man meat around this place besides you...if I wanted to check anybody out.

“Sure,” I say, a little annoyed at the thought of her ogling any other guys in here. “I always catch your eyes on me.”

“I don’t …you do not,” she objects with a deep red glow on her cheeks. “I think you have some sort of head injury.” She raps my skull with her knuckles.

I’m just playing with her, but I’m not imagining the way she looks at me when she thinks I’m not paying attention, or the way her body reacts to mine when we’re close.

“Whatever you say, babe.” I give an overdramatic sigh. “We both know it’s true. Don’t sweat it. I don’t mind. I kinda like it.” I grin. “You know what I’m going to do?” I tap my chin with my finger. “I’m gonna reward you. I’m going to walk away now so you can stare at my ass.” This produces an eye-roll so hard it must have hurt, and I can’t help it when I chuckle. “I won’t even look back, so there’s no chance of you getting caught checking me out. Consider it a freebie.”

“Caveman,” she mumbles under her breath as I begin to walk away. I can feel her eyes on me, getting a good look.

After about ten steps, I turn around quickly and catch her red-handed. “See…told ya…checking me out.”

“Hey…you weren’t supposed to turn around,” she giggles, and I love hearing the sound.
