Peripheral(24)
Author: Leslie Fear

In answer, I put my hands behind his neck, and press my mouth on his, hard.

I can’t get enough of his tongue, his taste, his smell.

My hand finds the top of his jeans and I start to unbutton my way down. He pauses and lifts up, and both of us desperately yank off our pants. Ascot tugs at his boxers, pulling them down his legs, his penis drops free, thick and rigid.

“Wait,” he murmurs, catching my hands just before I remove my panties. “Let me do it,” his fingers slowly drag the thin fabric past my ankles, his eyes scanning their way up my body, and he gives me a sexy smile. “So lovely, so perfect,” he whispers, pulling the blankets over us as he hovers above me, his body trembles.

“Are you cold?” I ask, slipping my hand around his tight, athletic back.

“Not even a little bit,” he shakes his head, plunging his mouth to mine as he rests his quivering body on top.

Holy mother…

I arch my back, and push my legs together, capturing him between my thighs and squeeze. He gives me a low growl as I reach down, guiding him inside me, slick and wet.

God, he’s warm.

I’m so ready, so wanting of him and when he gently thrusts, once, twice, three times, I instantly begin to climax in long racking spasms. I dig my fingers into his back as he gains momentum and with each powerful stroke, I hold on, clenching my jaw through the euphoria. He feels it too, increasing my pleasure as his lips tickle my neck and his tongue begins circling the tops of my breasts. In less than a few dozen thrusts, I feel his body twitch and then stiffen up as he sucks in a breath and lets out a long groan. He pauses to catch his breath, his muscles tight, and skin slightly damp with sweat. Slowly, he lowers himself, eyes closed as his skin glistens in the room’s low light.

The blood is still beating heavily in my ears, echoing the fainting pulse between my legs, as he reaches over and rests a hand on my ribs.

“That didn’t take long,” I chuckle, smiling up at him.

He laughs and clears his throat. “It couldn’t be helped,” he glances down at me, “it was inevitable.”

I roll over on my side to face him and his arm wraps around my back. “You’re quite sure of yourself,” I raise a brow.

His smile widens. “I barely lasted long enough for you to…”

“Oh, you meant…”

He laughs again, cutting me off. “I was starting to think it would never happen.”

I run the back of my hand along his arm, suddenly struck by his words. “Never is a very long time, even for us.”

He clenches his jaw and pulls me close. “It’s all in the way you look at it, Elise,” he whispers. “Living forever doesn’t have to be a bad thing,” his fingers gently stroke my hair, “and we have lifetimes to find the good.”

“I think that’s what scares me the most,” I admit, glancing back up at him, “outliving everyone I know,” I swallow, “and, will I always look like this?”

He clears his throat again. “You’ll always look the age you are now, yes, but the rest depends on you,” his fingers continue stroking my hair. “But you should know, being immortal doesn’t mean you’re invincible.”

“What are you trying to say?” I raise my head, glancing up at him.

He lets go and locks eyes with me. “It means you have free will. You can perish from this world whenever you wish.”

“I’m not sure I’d ever want that either,” I admit, holding his gaze.

“Well, that’s a relief.”

“Besides,” I swallow, “even if I wanted to, I thought it was almost imposs…”

“There are ways.”

“W-What kind?” I whisper.

“Are you sure you want to know?”

Gulp.

I slowly nod. “I mean, if I ever changed my mind.”

“Let’s hope it never comes to that,” he pulls in a breath, “really want to know, there are two specific ways,” he whispers. “One is by fire, and the other is decapitation.”

“Holy shit, what are we in the dark ages? No one has come up with a better way in all this time?”

Ascot’s face brightens into a smile. “Nope, you’re stuck with me for eternity.”

“Wow,” I grin, shaking my head, “you do realize how fucked up this is, right?”

He shrugs. “Yeah, it’s not the perfect relationship scenario but, what is?”

“You are actually hearing the words coming out of your mouth?

He shifts and sits up, his playful expression suddenly serious. “Elise,” he takes me by the hands. “I-I need to tell you something.”

“Oh, crap,” I cut in, “does it take some kind of master swordsman from a specific Greek bloodline to do it, too?”

His face softens and he swallows. “I’ve wanted to tell you this, shit…” he stops and blows out a breath. “I’m in love with you.”

Oh my god.

“Oh,” I barely get out, stunned. “I-I, okay.”

He lets go of my hands, but I hang on tightly, pulling him back. I wasn’t sure until this very moment but now I am.

Absolutely, one hundred percent.

“Good,” I smile, “because I’m in love with you, too.”

Delight washes over his face and he yanks me in his arms. “You just made me the happiest man alive,” he whispers in my ear, holding me against his chest.

“I’m happy too,” I whisper back, listening to the steady beat of his heart. “Even though the future scares the hell out of me,” I swallow, “it’s comforting to know I won’t be alone. Not ever again.”

He pulls back, pushing strands of brown hair from my face. “You’re right, that’s something you will never have to worry about, my love.”

His words somehow pierce my heart and for the first time since I met him, I know this is right, we are right. This is where I’m supposed to be, this is how everything was supposed to happen.

“Yes, Elise. You and Ascot were meant for each other from the very beginning.” I hear Sylvia’s voice in my head.

“Sylvia! You’re back!” I smile.

“Yes, I just needed some time to gain my strength,” she answers. “Don’t worry about me now, we can talk later.”

The next few days come and go quickly. Adam is avoiding the office like the plague, which has been pure bliss for Tammy and I. Neither one of us has had to deal with his disgusting, continuous flirting so I’m guessing he took my threat of telling his wife seriously. He’s smarter than I thought.

Ascot and I have been taking turns, sleeping at each other’s apartments but I know he wants to change that. He’s been hinting around that we should move in together, but he also knows I need more time to wrap my head around things. Talking with Sylvia has helped. She adores Ascot and is all for us living as a couple, and her approval is everything to me. So, the move will probably happen sooner than later.

Then there’s Marcus Logan, Ascot’s tenant on the first floor. He’s back to his old tricks, selling weed and God knows what else at all hours of the day and night. Ascot is about to lose his shit, but I’ve managed to talk him into letting me try something first, before having him evicted. That can get messy and expensive, and if lawyers have to get involved, it could also create unwanted attention.
