“You don’t know that for a fact,” I whispered.

He pressed a kiss to my lips. “I do, baby. Because if my mom wouldn’t have knocked on the door, I would be buried balls deep in you right now.”

A gasp escaped my lips, and a tremor rocked my body at his brash yet hot words. “Do you have a lock on your door?”

Remy roared with laughter and rolled us over. His body pressed down on me, and he had a huge smile on his face. “The time for locking the door is over, baby. Now all we can do is eat breakfast and hope we can escape before the day is over.”

“Don’t you have to work?” I asked.

“And don’t you?”

I rolled my eyes. “I called Roc yesterday and told him I was visiting friends back home. I don't have work. Now you.”

“Roc also gave us the day off. I guess after winning yesterday, it finally put him in a good mood. Although, before that, he suspended Frankie.”

“Suspended,” I gasped. “What in the heck for?”

He chuckled. “Brooks ignored her for the millionth time, and she finally got sick of it. Jay says she threw a wrench at him.”

I covered my mouth with my hand. “Oh, my God.”

“Yeah. No one is saying anything about it right now. Thankfully, before Frankie left, she had the car dialed in perfectly so her leaving didn’t mess with the race yesterday, but if anything would have broken or needed adjusting, we would have been fucked.”

“Have you talked to her?” I didn’t know Frankie that well, but from what I did know, I liked her.

“Yeah. She’s headed back home. Said something about working for her brothers, but I don’t think that is going to happen. Frankie wants to make a name for herself, and that isn’t possible at home.” He patted my hip. “We need to get dressed and out in the kitchen. I know my mom wasn’t kidding when she said five minutes.”

“Just one second.”

“What’s wrong, baby?” he asked.

I leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips. “There. Now I’m better.” A sweet smile spread across my lips, and I rolled off the bed. I managed to jump up out of bed without getting tangled in the sheets and grabbed my shorts I had tossed on the dresser last night. “What are we doing today?”

Remy put his arms behind his head and watched me drag his shirt off. “Holy fuck, baby. You taking your shirt off is not going to make me want to get out of bed.”

I balled it up and tossed it on his head. “I’ve got a bra on, butthead. No peep show for you.”

He uncovered his eyes and whistled. “Still, I am not complaining about the view I have right now.”

“Can we get back to what you have planned for us today?” I crouched down and pulled my duffle bag from under the bed. Remy reached out and brushed my hair from my shoulders.

“I hate to break it to you, baby, but when I come back home, I don’t make plans because I know my mom has plans for me.”

I grabbed an ice blue tank top that had pretty pink flowers along the hem and zipped the bag shut. I looked up at Remy, and he trailed his fingers up my neck and along my jawline. He cupped my face and leaned forward. “That’s kind of how the past two days have been.”

A smirk spread across his lips. “Yeah, but that’s my mom. You learn to like it.” He pressed a sweet kiss to my lips.

“I like your mom,” I whispered.

“And she likes you.”

That made me happy.

Super happy.

“I like you, too.” It made me so happy that I was saying everything that was bouncing around in my head. “In case you didn’t know.”

His thumb brushed back and forth on my cheek. He was a breath away, and my insides were becoming mush from his sweet touch. “I had a feeling you might like me, seeing as you let me touch your butt, but it’s nice to hear it out loud.”

I dropped my forehead to his and burst out laughing.

“You guys have one minute to get your asses out here before I come back in,” Meg called through the door.

Remy wrapped his arms around me, pulling me up with him as he stood, and squeezed me in a tight hug. “You ready for this, baby?”

I knew he was talking about the plans his mom had for us today, but it felt like he was also asking if I was ready to see where we were going together.

The answer to both was hell yes.

Chapter 27

Remy

“Your grandma is a badass biker chick.”

I looked at Ethel, who was in the kitchen yelling at Gravel for pinching her butt. It was a typical scene for the two. I shrugged and scraped the last of my apple pie onto my fork. “That’s just Ethel.”

After Harlyn and I finally managed to get out of my room this morning, I had been proven correct when I had said my mom was going to have our day all planned out for us.

Breakfast with her and Lo, lunch over at Cyn and Rigid’s, a run back home to grab the apple pie Mom had made, and then we were over to Ethel and Gravel’s. None of which I minded, but it didn’t give me much time with Harlyn alone.

As soon as we had gotten to Ethel’s, Ethel had pulled her into the kitchen, leaving me out on the front porch with Lo and Gravel. Now, I finally had her next to me and no one within ten feet of us sitting on the front porch. Gravel and Lo were in the backyard starting a fire, and Mom and Ethel were in the kitchen cleaning up. Well, Gravel had been in the backyard, but it seemed he snuck into the kitchen for more pie and to give Ethel a little hell.

“Your family is awesome. I don’t know why you don’t come home more.”

I set my plate down on the table next to my chair. “It’s not that I don’t want to come home. It’s just, they get to be a little much. I like to have my time to myself sometimes.” I hitched my thumb toward the kitchen. “As you can see, being alone doesn’t happen much with all of them and the club.”

She leaned her head back and rested it on the back of the chair. “I guess I can get that. I didn’t have a big family growing up. It was just me and my mom, so this just seems amazing to me.”

I reached out and threaded my fingers through hers. “You can have my crazy family, baby. I think my mom has already claimed you, anyway.”

I had brought girls home before to meet my mom, but she had never embraced any of them the way she had Harlyn. She always seemed to keep herself in check with the others. With Harlyn, it was like she let her crazy flag fly, and Harlyn loved it. They were more similar than I had realized.

“She wouldn’t think it was weird if I came to hang out when you were out on the road?” she laughed.

“Mom,” I called. “Harlyn wants to come hang out the next stretch I’m gone.”

Harlyn slapped my arm. “What are you doing?” she hissed. “She’s going to think I’m crazy.”

I cocked my eyebrow. “We’re talking about my mom here, Harlyn.” I held up a finger, then two.

“Oh, my God! That would be awesome.” Mom came charging out of the kitchen and burst out on the porch. “We can totally go to the mall next time. They have this awesome pretzel place, and then we can get a cinnamon roll and pizza from the food court.”
