Nitro Crew Complete Series(39)
Author: Winter Travers

“The only way we are going to find out what’s going on with Frankie is if we go to work.” He walked to my dresser and pulled out a pair of bright orange panties. “Jesus woman, these are like the safety vests the track crew wears.”

I rolled out of bed and snatched them out of his hand. “I don’t think the man who doesn’t wear underwear himself can have any say about mine.” I reached into the drawer he had open and pulled out a matching bra. “Now, since you are making me go to work and won’t play hooky with me, I need to go shower.” I flounced out of the bedroom and down the hallway.

“Hey, Harlyn.”

I glanced over my shoulder and saw Remy leaning against the door frame. “Can I watch?”

Remy

“Lunchtime, dill weed.”

I glanced up from the manifold I was cleaning up. “Already?”

“Yeah. It’s twelve-thirty.” Jay tossed his keys up in the air and caught them. “Roc asked me to run and get pizza for everyone. You wanna ride with?”

I glanced at the closed door that went into the office. “Uh, I think I’ll pass.”

Jay shook his head. “You’re crazy, man. Although, if you are thinking of going to see your girl, now would be the time. I heard Roc on the phone saying he was heading out to pick up something at twelve forty-five.”

Fucking perfect.

Jay strolled out the large overhead bay door, and I wiped my hands on a shop towel.

After watching Harlyn shower this morning, and then deciding I needed a shower too, we were ten minutes late, but thankfully Roc had been in his office so he didn’t notice. It had been over four hours since I had seen her, and I was jonesing for a taste of her.

I made my way across the shop and pushed open the door into the office. She was sitting at her desk, her back to me, and her head bowed like she was reading something. I quietly shut the door and looked to Roc’s office where the door was open. He wasn't inside, and I knew then was my chance to spend a little time with Harlyn.

“Jay. I told you just get a receipt for the pizza, and Roc will pay you back later,” she mumbled, distracted.

“What if I’m not here for money?”

Harlyn spun around in her chair, a huge smile plastered across her face. “Remy.”

“Now that’s the kind of hello I was looking for.”

She sprang up out of her chair and jumped across the few feet that separated us. I caught her in my arms and pressed a kiss to her waiting lips.

“I missed you,” she whispered. “It’s torture knowing you are just on the other side of that door and I can’t come see you.”

It did suck. I knew I needed to work, but it would be nice to be able to take a break every now and then to come see her without having to sneak around behind Roc. “He gone?” I asked.

She nodded, knowing exactly who I was talking about. “He had to meet with one of the sponsors for lunch. Won’t be back for a while.”

“Is that right?” She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I walked us backward to her desk. “I think I have something on my desk I need you to take a look at.”

“Oh yeah?”

She nodded her head. “Yup. I’m going to need you to sit right here.” She turned me around, my back now to the desk, and pushed me to sit on the edge. “Right here,” she whispered.

I spread my legs, and she wedged her body in between them. “Just what do you need me to look at?”

“This.” She pressed her lips against mine and wrapped her arms around me. As usual when it came to Harlyn, I didn’t need much encouragement. She basically had to breathe in my direction and I was ready to go.

She moaned into my mouth, needing more.

The kiss was wet, rough, and demanding. More than what we should be doing at work, but that didn’t stop either of us.

Her moans encouraged my hands to curve around her ass and down the short distance of her skirt to her bare leg. “I told you wearing this skirt wasn’t a good idea,” I mumbled against her lips. “Just makes me what to flip it up and have my way with you right here on your desk.”

She moaned my name and delved her fingers into my hair.

“What in the fuck is going on?”

Harlyn jumped out of my arms and whirled around to see Roc standing in the front door with a scowl on his face and a vein in his neck throbbing.

“Dad,” Harlyn gasped.

“Don’t ‘dad’ me, Harlyn. What in the hell is he doing to you?”

I couldn’t help but scoff at the ridiculous question. I had to think it was pretty obvious what I was doing to her, and that she was willing participant.

“I don’t think that's any of your business.”

Roc stepped into the office and crossed his arms over his chest. “Pretty sure it is my business when you’re going at it in the front office with my clutch assistant.”

“Roc, I’m sorry—”

His eyes sliced to me. “Don’t give a shit what you have to say to me, kid. You’re fucking fired. Get the hell out.”

Harlyn gasped, but I wasn’t surprised. I knew dating Harlyn held this risk. “I think I should at least have a chance to explain myself,” I insisted.

“Explain what exactly? Why you have your tongue crammed down my daughter's throat? You can save that explanation for someone who cares,” Roc gruffed. “I want you out of my garage.”

“Dad,” Harlyn insisted, “You can’t do this. I’m twenty-seven years old. You can’t fire someone because they’re dating me.”

“Dating?” Roc cringed.

Harlyn took a step toward Roc. “You fire him, and I quit.”

“No. That’s not how this works, Harlyn. I know what’s best for you, and this guy is not it.”

“You know what’s best for me?” Harlyn bit out. “I’m almost thirty, and you’ve maybe spent a total of three months with me my whole life. How can you know what is best for me?”

“I know getting involved with a guy who is the fucking spitting image of me at that age is not what you want or need.”

Harlyn pointed at me. “Remy is just like you? How in the hell do you figure?”

“Your major gripe with me is I was never there. I was always gone on the road or at a race. That is exactly what Remy does. Twenty-four weekends out of the year are races. So that means more than half of the year, he is gone, just like I am.”

“That’s not true. I may be gone, but I’m still talking to Harlyn, not ignoring her.”

“We’re five races into the season, how in the hell do you two know what it’s like having a relationship on the road?”

Harlyn stepped forward. “Because I started dating Remy before the start of the season.”

Roc’s face turned beet red. “You’ve been dating him for six weeks and I’m just now hearing about it?”

“Last I checked, I don’t need to run my dating life by you.” Harlyn was pissed. Majorly.

Roc pointed a finger at Harlyn. “You and I will discuss this later.” He turned his finger to me. “As for you, you’re suspended.”

“Suspended?” Harlyn yelled. “You have no reason to do that.”
