He had, but now it had a whole different meaning. Quinn just waited, not trying to coerce him into making a decision. Cade bit his lip. He liked sitting on Quinn’s lap and Quinn had fed him before. Okay, that had been strawberries and chocolate sauce and had led to an intense night of fucking, where Cade had cuffed Quinn’s hands to the bedframe and ridden his cock until he’d forgotten his own name, but it wasn’t like it would be new. He got up and stumbled over to Quinn, who patted his lap again. Cade settled against Quinn and let Quinn hold him for a moment.
“Good boy,” Quinn murmured.
Cade’s tummy growled and Quinn chuckled. “I think I need to feed the hungry dragon.”
“Dinosaur, Daddy. It’s a dinosaur, not a dragon. Dragons are for big people.”
He waited for Quinn to contradict him, but Quinn just nodded. “Of course it’s a dinosaur.” Quinn picked up one of the sandwich pieces. “Here’s a sandwich for the hungry dinosaur.” He waved it around and popped it into Cade’s open mouth. Cade hastily chewed as Quinn looked at him expectantly. Then Quinn repeated the exercise. As he handed him the sippy cup, Cade wasn’t sure what to make of it. It was bizarre. But by the time they’d gotten through the cheese sandwich and the chips, and the fruit because Quinn insisted, Cade was feeling more relaxed than he could ever remember. It had been fun, a little silly, but right too.
“I don’t know if anyone ever did this with me,” he murmured as he rested in Quinn’s lap after the snack. He couldn’t remember any of his foster parents playing with him, although he’d blocked a lot of the memories from that time.
“We can do this whenever you need it,” Quinn suggested.
“And whenever you need it too,” Cade insisted.
“Yes, when I need it too. I get a lot of pleasure from taking care of you.”
Cade chewed on his bottom lip and then summoned up his courage to ask, “Will you still take care of other boys?”
Quinn kissed the top of his head. “No. I’m only your Daddy. And you are my only boy.”
Cade sighed in relief and leaned against Quinn’s chest. He was feeling sleepy again, jetlag catching up with him. “How did Dominic take your resignation?”
“He’s not happy.” Quinn’s tone suggested he didn’t care much one way or the other.
“Are you sure?”
“We’ll talk about it later, boy. In here, it’s Daddy and his little. No grownup stuff.”
Cade thought about that for a while. “I like that.”
They sat in silence, Quinn holding him close. Cade sucked his thumb a little and Quinn said nothing.
“Will I have to wear diapers?” he asked after a while.
“Only if you want to,” Quinn said. “Nothing happens in here that you don’t want.”
“I never thought I could have this,” Cade murmured.
“What? Diapers?”
Cade grinned, but he answered honestly. “Happiness.”
Quinn held him tight. “I promise I will try to make you happy every day.”
“Even when I’m being a brat?” Because, being a brat, Cade had to poke the tiger.
“Especially when you’re being a brat, because you’ll know that I still love you.”
“You do? Really love me?” God, when was he going to learn to trust?
“Bones to balls, my boy,” Quinn said. “I love you, bones to balls.”
