Breaking the Rules (The Triskelion Series, #1)(38)
Author: Jodi Payne

“You’re mine.” He couldn’t have kept the little growl of pride out of his voice if he’d wanted to.

“I am.”

It turned him on so much, watching the way Troy seemed to get taller, spine straighter.

The other night hadn’t been perfect; he knew Troy had been holding something back, and he hadn’t managed to get at it. It wasn’t because of him, though, Troy trusted him that was obvious. So whatever it was, he’d just keep working until his boy could let it go. They’d gotten close; they’d both felt good after. Watching Troy, he was convinced that they were on the right path.

Troy got their drinks before sitting next to him again. “So I was thinking we could head out this weekend. See if there are campsites at West Chicago Creek or whathaveyou.”

“With marshmallows?” He laughed. “I’d love to. You’re actually ready to try staying overnight?”

“If it’s uncomfortable, we can stay in Idaho Springs.”

“I love camping. I will make sure you are very comfortable. Or very comfortably uncomfortable, depending on how much privacy we have.” He got an image of Troy tied naked to a tree and part of him wanted to laugh, but part of him…? A little rope, maybe a blindfold, a roaring fire? There was something there worth exploring.

“I have a camp stove, a hammock, sleeping bag. You have a tent?”

“I have a tent, lanterns, a bear bag and bug spray.” Saul winked. “And a bunch of other random crap. And you have a truck, which makes this so much easier.”

“I do. I’ll grab the air mattress out of the garage, even.”

“Glamping. I like it. A couple of steaks, lawn chairs, beer, enough rubbers for a small army.” Hell yeah. “Lock the phones in the glove compartment.”

“Sounds like heaven. With bears.” Little shit.

Saul leaned closer to Troy. “I know a couple I can invite if you’re into that.”

“I’m into you, Sir. All the way.”

God, that immediate answer suited him just fine. He nodded, finding those green eyes and holding them. “Thank you. How do you feel about heading out? We could take a walk or… something.” He was thinking he’d rather get lost in Troy than a maze. He’d been promised a blow job after all.

“Sounds perfect. Let’s go. I owe you a reward.” Oh, good boy. Great minds thinking alike and all that.

“Golf was fun. You’re a wonderful date, you know that?” Troy seemed to have the transition stuff or integration thing, or whatever it was down already. He was keeping up, but it was far from comfortable yet.

“Thank you. I’m having a ball, playing with you.”

“I like that we can just hang out. It’s… different. I mean, I love all of it obviously, but sometimes I just want to be a regular guy on a regular date. I’m just used to that being separate.”

Troy glanced at him, stood, and then held out a hand. “You ready to hit the road?”

He jumped up and took Troy’s hand. If he’d smiled any broader he’d have hurt himself. “I am.” Saying something was his second good call of the day.

“Good deal. Holler when you’re ready for supper.” Troy led him out in the air and got them moving toward the truck.

He hooked an arm around Troy’s back. “Nice evening, huh? Okay, I know what I’m getting for my hole in one… what do you want for yours?”

“It’s a gorgeous night, and if you’re rewarding me for mine you’ll get damn tired. I rocked that course.” Troy shot him a grin.

He laughed and slid his hand lower, tucking it into Troy’s back pocket. “Such a show off.”

“That’s me, short order cook and gooney golf player extraordinaire.”

He tugged on Troy, leaning his lover’s back against the driver’s side door. “Extraordinaire?” He planted a kiss with intentions that had nothing to do with dinner.

Troy’s eyes flew open wide. Saul did love how easy it was to surprise his boy.

“Know a place to park?” He nuzzled Troy’s ear.

“I might know a place out of town a ways.” Troy patted his hip, the touch intimate. “Come on and we can see what we can see.”

“Sounds good.” He wondered how Troy knew a place but didn’t really want to know either. He liked the naughty feeling of not knowing more than he wanted details. He pushed away with a grin and headed around to the passenger side.

Troy waited until he got settled before he got the country station going, grabbed a gimme cap off the dash, and directed them both out of town. They headed west, the sun right in their eyes, the city disappearing.

He found himself watching Troy, kind of sidelong at first and then watching frankly. Casual, easy, comfortable in that tattooed skin. “You look great.” He gave Troy’s shoulder a squeeze.

Troy glanced over, blinked, and then offered him a smile. “Well, thank you.”

“Really. Your vibe is hot as hell.” He drew a hand along Troy’s side and slid it along one thigh.

“I have a vibe?” Troy stretched up tall under his hand.

“Yeah. This casually masculine thing. It’s hard to describe but it’s a total turn-on.” He teased, tugging at the button on Troy’s jeans.

“Well, thank God for that. It would suck if I didn’t crank your tractor.”

“Ha!” Saul barked out a laugh, pulled his hand away and socked Troy in the shoulder. “Buzzkill.”

“Never say so.” Troy hooted, cheeks bright pink. “Seriously. I appreciate it. It’s been a long time.”

“Yeah, yeah. Twenty years, blah, blah.” He snorted, teasing, hand going right back where it had been. “I’ve been fucking you for more than a week. I think you should believe me now.”

“Fair enough. More than a whole week, huh? That’s pretty damned impressive.”

“It is for me.” He shrugged. “Subs I stick with. Lovers are more of an issue.”

“Hey, I wasn’t mocking. I’m more the seven-years-on, twenty-years-off type, and don’t ask me to do that math. I don’t got that kind of focus with you right here.”

“No math. You just find us that spot.” He toyed with Troy’s belt but gave up, he’d never get it undone with one hand, and instead pushed his fingers lower to cup Troy through the denim.

Troy gasped, hips rolling up as his fingers tightened around the steering wheel. “Damn.”

“Now who is cranking whose tractor, cowboy?” He gave a squeeze but backed off pretty quickly. Driving off into a ditch wasn’t sexy.

“You do. Crank all sorts of things, I mean.”

“Uh-huh.” His own cock was starting to complain about tight quarters, and he adjusted himself, grunting just loud enough to be heard over the radio, and lowered his fly, letting it out to play.

“That is totally cheating, you know. Completely.” Troy reached over, fingers sliding up over his shaft.

“What fun is playing by the rules?” Whoa. His voice was pretty tight. Damn. He ground the heel of his hand along the ridge in Troy’s jeans.

“I don’t know. I think you don’t mind when I follow them.” Troy pulled off onto a dirt road and pulled over on a wide spot, throwing the truck in park.
