Cowboy's Fake Girlfriend(13)
Author: J.P. Comeau

I collapsed against him, panting for air as I felt his cock explode. Strings of arousal filled me to the brim before my pussy pushed him out. The evidence of our arousal fell against his seats, marking his truck with our scent. And as I breathed him in deeply, my face pressed into the crook of his neck, I felt him wrap his strong arms around me as we quaked with the aftershocks of our orgasms.

He kissed my forehead in such a tender fashion that I almost wasn’t sure it had happened. My body settled against his, our hearts beating rapidly in time with our panting breaths. The world tilted around me. I closed my eyes and felt the axis of the world shifting back and forth, reminding me of the joy I just experienced.

The joy of fucking my boss.

My head ripped up from his shoulder. “Oh, no.”

Bart shifted. “What?”

Reality crashed into me as quickly as my pleasure had, and I felt myself panicking. “No, no, no, no,” I murmured.

Bart furrowed his brow. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

I pushed myself away from him. “I, uh…”

“Luna, look at me.”

He tried to take my hand, but I moved farther away. “I need food. Bad. It’s making me sick.”

“Well, here. Let’s get up to your apartment and we can—”

“I just need to be alone, okay?” I looked over at him and saw his eyes boring into me.

“Are you sure?”

I swallowed hard. “More than anything.”

He sighed. “At least let me walk you up.”

I watched him stuff himself back into his pants, and it hurt more than I wanted to admit. I fixed my hair and my clothes, trying to make myself look presentable as my entire body burned with embarrassment. I had just had sex with my boss. I did the one thing I always told Willow not to do.

I’m a hypocrite.

“Luna, wait!”

I let my body do what it needed to do without my mind interfering. I grabbed my purse and pushed open Bart’s truck door before leaping out. I made my way for the outside stairs that led straight up to my second-floor apartment, my heart slamming against my chest as Bart kept calling out my name. I leaped up the steps two by two, unwilling to wait for Bart lest it prolonged the embarrassment I felt churning tears behind my eyes.

And after slamming the door behind me, I let the tears fall as I listened to Bart’s truck sputter to life before driving away.

“Dammit,” I whimpered.

I wiped at my tears and dug around in my purse before I speed-dialed the girls. I knew they’d give me shit—especially Willow—but I needed to talk with them. I needed their advice. My mind remained clouded with a mixture of shock and ecstasy. I’d never had a man make me feel that way before, and of course, that man was my boss.

I mean, we’d even been on the clock!

“Hey, hey, hey! The kids are eating, and I’ve got some free time,” Willow said.

Sadie groaned. “I’m just lying here. I feel like shit.”

I sniffled. “Thanks, you guys, for picking up.”

Willow paused. “What’s wrong?”

Sadie’s voice grew stronger. “Who am I killing?”

I giggled breathlessly. “I, uh… I’ve made a massive mistake.”

“Do you need me to come over?” Willow asked.

“You can come to pick me up before you go. Will!” Sadie exclaimed.

I walked over to my couch. “No, no, no. I just—I need you guys to tell me it’s all going to be okay.”

“Has something happened with your father?” Willow asked.

“Will says I’m good to go,” Sadie said.

I put my head in my hands. “So, Bart offered me this job, right?”

“Oh! Yeah! Today was your first day, right? Bryce was telling me about it,” Willow said.

“Will! Why didn’t you tell me Bart hired Luna!?” Sadie exclaimed.

I pinched the bridge of my nose. “It went fine until my car died in the parking lot of a refinery place we were looking at. He had to drive me home.”

“Is… that what’s wrong? Your car?” Sadie asked.

“You didn’t,” Willow said.

I felt the tears brewing again. “I don’t know what to do. Bart’s my boss, you guys. H-H-He—”

“Can someone fill me in?” Sadie asked.

The call fell silent as I drew in a deep breath. “Bart and I just had sex in his truck.”

Sadie scoffed. “Well, it’s about damn time.”

“You know, I was sitting here just thinking that,” Willow said.

I blinked. “What?”

“Oh, come on,” Sadie giggled. “I saw the chemistry you two had at the barbecue.”

“How your father’s attitude just rolled right off his back,” Willow said.

“I’m honestly surprised it took this long to happen, really,” Sadie said.

I shook my head. “I don’t get it. This isn’t a bad thing? He’s my boss now, you guys.”

“And?” Willow asked.

Sadie barked with laughter. “You would.”

I rolled my eyes. “Can we focus? I’m having a crisis over here.”

Willow started laughing. “If you’re still this panicked, then you need to get laid more. You're supposed to be relaxed after, not more wound up.”

“You guys, this job is only temporary for me,” I said.

Sadie clapped her hands. “Even better! Then, once you have to quit, you won’t feel bad about banging him anymore.”

I flopped back against the couch. “Guys, I’m being serious right now.”

Willow sighed. “So are we. You’re making a big deal out of nothing. I mean, you two were practically attached at the hip at the cookout. I see the way he looks at you. None of this shocks me one bit.”

I blinked. “Wait, how does Bart look at me?”

“I love you, Luna, but you’ve always been so clueless,” Sadie said flatly.

I scoffed. “Hey…”

Willow clicked her tongue. “She’s right, though. You're so hung up on the fact that you now work with him—”

“For him,” I corrected.”

“Whatever. For him. You’re so wrapped up in that part that you can’t even admit what a good thing this is. You like him, right?”

I paused. “I mean, he’s handsome.”

“Come on, Luna. If you’re going to work through this, then stop lying,” Sadie said.

I leaned back. “All right, all right. Yes. I like the man. But, that doesn’t matter because he’s off-limits now. Or, he should have been. And besides, if this refinery doesn’t work out? He goes back to Houston, and I’m left here. I can’t just leave Conroe, especially with my father’s condition. This job is temporary for both of us, and then we go back to our lives. That’s how this is going to work.”

“That’s how you think this is going to work,” Sadie said.

Willow cleared her throat. “She’s right. This could all go according to plan, and the refinery keeps Bart here. Then, what?”

I shrugged. “Then, he’s still my boss, and nothing changes either.”

“Can I ask you something?” Sadie asked.
