Autumn's Rescue(26)
Author: Leann Ryans

Her eyes had clenched tight, eyebrows pinched in pain as he tore through her barrier. Drunk on her slick, the thought that he was the first to mount her drove him on, the animal side ignoring the corner of his mind saying to take it easy.

It wasn’t long before Autumn’s body was responding to his, hips lifting as he ground against her. Moans filled his ears as her body drew tight with her impending release.

Nuzzling against her neck, he scraped his teeth along the top of her shoulder. She shuddered beneath him, a whimper escaping her as she tipped her head to the side to give him better access.

His balls tightened at the thought of sinking his teeth into her flesh and claiming her as his. He could feel his knot starting to swell as his pace increased and Autumn’s core clenched around him.

The feel of her teeth piercing the muscle over his heart caused Darcon to roar, cock exploding as his knot locked behind her pelvic bone. She’d chosen him to be her mate, and now she’d claimed him.

He tasted blood before he made the conscious decision to mark her. Releasing his jaw, he licked across the wound as the last of his seed spilled inside Autumn. He could already feel the bond blooming behind his breastbone, connecting him to his mate.

Rolling to his back, Darcon pulled her limp body atop his, knot still locking them together. He let out a content purr as her tongue lapped at her mark, her answering one blending with his as they drifted off.

Autumn’s heat only lasted three days. Darcon was glad since it was less of a strain for her body. He still worried she wasn’t fully recovered from the Nightblossom milk, but he’d accepted her choice to go ahead with it.

He was a bit sad to leave the cabin. Living by themselves away from the crush of the village had been perfect to him, but he could see that it wasn’t the way Autumn wanted live. He could feel her longing to see her cousin and sister, and he wouldn’t force her to live like a hermit simply because he was fine with it.

He made her wait another three days after her heat ended before they made their way back. They’d been gone so long, it felt strange to ride into the main cavern and be underground again.

Verik and Iris were still in Siloah, but Autumn reunited with Rayne. Darcon even gritted his teeth through her greeting Larok though he hated letting another alpha touch her, even if he knew she viewed him as a father figure.

Freida fussed over both of them, hustling them to a table and piling it with food before they could protest. While it was early for dinner, they still ended up with a group gathered around to welcome them back. By the time he pried Autumn away it was well after most of the village had retired.

Pulling the red curtain across the entrance of his cave, he turned to Autumn.

“Are you glad to be back then, Sweetling?”

She smiled up at him as he moved closer. Wrapping his arms around her slim waist, Darcon nuzzled his mark on her neck.

“I’m glad to be wherever you are.”

He snorted, humming beneath his breath as he drew her scent deep into his lungs. While all the attention of their arrival made him uncomfortable, it was worth it to hold her in his arms and know she would forever be his.

Thanks

Thank you so much for reading Autumn’s Rescue. I do hope you enjoyed it. She was a bit more shy and sheltered than I’d thought she’d be, but characters have a way of taking on a life of their own.

I do hope you’ll leave a review and let me know what you thought and who you’d like to see next. I still have two omegas in Raider’s village that need a happily ever after of their own, plus I’ve been thinking about giving Rayne and maybe even Larok their own story. Let me know who you want next!

If you enjoyed this series, I have others you may enjoy as well. You can find all of my books including the one banned by Amazon on my website at https://leannryans.com

If you sign up for my weekly newsletter you’ll receive a copy of the short story In the Darkness free!

Continue on for a sample of Used, a sci-fi omegaverse romance.

Chapter One

To be omega is to be subjugated.

Dominated.

Enslaved.

But it's also to be wanted.

Desired.

Valued.

Other omegas tried to hide from their fate. Tried to have a say in when, and who, they mated.

It never worked.

They would be found. Caught. Dragged, crying, and fighting the whole way. The end was always the same. Their biology was used against them.

If they were lucky enough to be found before their heat, that is. They're always found once they go into heat. Nothing can hide that scent from an alpha, and the results could be… unpleasant.

It was easier just to do what the law said. Go to the collection center and avoid the stress.

Hiding away in the dark, half starving in the cold, just to put off what was going to happen anyway, seemed pointless. Showing up willingly, clean and docile, and not scrawny from lack of food, seemed like the smarter way to go.

Elise thought she would get a better price that way, and it's obvious if someone can pay more for an omega, then they should have plenty for a decent home and food to eat. One could hope they would take care of their investment. Having a young, willing omega, that didn't try to escape or cry before she was bonded, should be worth something.

According to the law, every omega was to present themselves to a collection center before their first heat, to be matched with an alpha with complementary genetics, who would then bond and mate them during their first cycle. Since omegas matured slower than the other dynamics, that usually meant somewhere around their twentieth to twenty-first year.

They were told that it was for the good of future generations. That this was the way to assure diseases and genetic disorders were eradicated, and that their children were strong.

Elise knew that in reality, omegas were a commodity like any other, to be sold to the highest bidder. Used for wealth and gain.

Some species naturally produce more omegas than others, and they became a great way to create alliances throughout the different worlds. Especially for Earth, since human alphas were even more rare than omegas were, and human females were compatible with any race.

Alphas had to pay a premium to access the Omega Market, and the more they paid, the more choices they had.

The women were filed in a galactic database where the alphas could put in their preferences and browse through the options, though they wouldn’t have long to decide. Bidding would begin as soon as the omega’s information was listed.

Being virginal was not a requirement.

Most omegas wanted their first time to be with who they chose, since they couldn't choose their mate unless they were from an extremely wealthy family who could pull strings to keep them off the Market. Elise figured it was another thing that would increase her value though, so she had waited. None of the beta males had ever interested her enough to make her think twice about it.

She brushed her blonde hair until it shone and lay about her shoulders and down her back in a straight sheet, her bangs freshly trimmed to hang just right. She was wearing a dress she made specially for this occasion. It was a deep blue that matched her eyes, and it hugged her curves enough to hint at what was underneath, without being indecent.
