Game of Love : A Mafia Romance(60)
Author: Khardine Gray

Shit! Another orgasm was coming. It roiled low in my groin and worked its way up like a volcano waiting to erupt.

I gritted my teeth but that did nothing to stop me from gasping a desperate breath that carried a pleasure-filled moan on the edge of it.

If anyone walked in they would hear me.

God, they would hear me.

Then what?

He must have seen the worry fill my face because he cupped my face and kissed me while he continued to move inside me.

I kissed him back and moved with him.

My lips on his muffled the sound of my last cry but he wasn’t finished yet.

I held him tight as he continued to move inside me with those rough hard strokes that rocked my body, severing me from reality.

When he sped up again and started pounding harder I knew his climax was near. We’d done this enough times for me to know his body too.

I was right. His grip tightened on me and he started jackhammering, jackhammering to his release that blew into me like a hurricane.

It was so powerful that it sucked the energy from me.

Xander then held me to him, held me close against the corded muscles of his chest while our breathing stilled. I ran my fingers over the eagle tattooed on his chest, loving the feel of his skin against my fingertips.

I couldn’t imagine that I wasn’t allowed to be with him, and damn it, as soon as I thought it my office door opened.

My whole being tensed right up, it tensed up and stayed tense as footsteps sounded against the concrete floor.

Jesus please, don’t let whoever that was open the closet door.

Please, no.

There were two people, two distinct sets of footsteps.

Xander held me against his chest, held me tight and it was the first time he’d ever looked worried. Worried though not for himself, but for me. It was weird considering it was him they’d kill if they caught him with me like this.

“She would have come this way. Saw her on camera.” That was Pa. The worst person who could catch us like this. As if the last time when he walked in on me in bed with Xander wasn’t bad enough.

That was embarrassing and a step too far.

This however, was life or death. I’d been warned and this would be my fault.

If he died it would be my fault.

“Maybe she went upstairs to the coffeehouse.” That was Vinny.

“I just want to see if she’s okay,” Pa gruffed, then God and his angels must have come to my rescue because the footsteps filtered away and the main door to my office clicked shut.

I released a sigh I didn’t realize I’d been holding on to. I hadn’t realized I wasn’t breathing.

Xander set me down and pressed his forehead to mine.

“I’m sorry. Jia, I shouldn’t have put you in danger like that,” he breathed.

“It was my fault.”

“Really? Looks a lot more like my fault from where I’m standing... When it comes to you I can’t think straight.” He fixed his pants and surprised me entirely by pulling a tissue from his pocket to clean me off. The care he handled me with was something I savored too, him taking care of me like I was his.

“You were telling the truth.” I gazed up into his eyes.

“The truth?” He focused on me like he wasn’t sure what I was talking about.

“When you said it was real.” I didn’t doubt it when he told me the other day, but it wasn’t spoken in the best of moments.

“Yes ,of course it’s real, but this is dangerous Jia and not what I want for you.” His gaze intensified and I knew he was about to hit me with something serious. A truth I wouldn’t like. “I won’t… say goodbye. I won’t say goodbye when I leave.”

I covered my mouth to keep from crying, surprised I had any tears left.

He smoothed his hand over my cheek and held me closer.

“Jia. It’s best.”

I shook my head. “No… It’s not. Please don’t do that to me. I leave for Europe on Monday.” The words felt so weird to say. I’d always imagined that I’d be happier telling people that. “I leave for Europe on Monday with Armand. Xander…please, if you leave before, if you leave before that just come and see me. Just see me once. But please don’t just disappear and I never see you again. It would kill me.”

It would grieve me to no end if he did that.

He nodded and pulled me into the safety of his heart.

I wished more than anything that I could stay there forever.

Not meant to be though.

It was another hard truth.

Chapter Thirty-One

Xander

I wasn’t sure which was worse.

Being with her or being without her.

Both seemed to carry its own weight of grief.

I suppose though that being with her fixed some element of something that had been severed.

Just some element. On some degree, however, it felt like I’d made the situation worse.

Maybe it would have been better to just leave, get out of her life and she’d never see me again.

Now I’d made a promise I might not be able to keep. Another one.

Night fell quickly and brought with it the gravity of the situation.

Wes and I were in full heist mode as we ventured to the park.

Ethan and a team he’d put together were going to stay in a van with cameras.

One set of cameras surveyed the area, others were connected with the communicators Wes and I carried so they could see where we were going.

We’d climbed down the sewer entrance about twenty minutes ago and followed the dank, dark pungent path with our headlights. Daytime might have been better to venture down here, out of the question though for many reasons.

This was my night off. When I did a whole day like I had, Giovanni gave me the night off. Of course I hadn’t been chosen like the others to watch Jia at her house since the last time he caught me in bed with her.

Prick… I really hoped he got what was coming to him. I really did.

The man was a mystery and a disaster.

One I never wanted to cross paths with again.

Wes tapped the side of his head, signaling to switch off the microphones.

I did.

Ethan would be able to see where we were going but not hear us. Because of the screwed signaling problems we usually had he’d most likely think there was some difficulty with that.

“You’re quiet. What’s up with you?” Wes asked, curiosity banked his eyes.

“Everything.”

“Anything more happen today?”

To answer that question I’d have to tell him I’d been more reckless today. Not only had I had sex with Jia again, but I’d nearly gotten caught balls deep in her by her father. Again.

I didn’t want to imagine what would have happened if he’d opened that closet door and caught me.

I would have been dead, dead, dead.

I wouldn’t have even gotten the chance to pull my gun to defend myself.

“Nothing happened.” Best to say that.

Wes knew it for a lie however. “Nothing at all? Really. You haven’t said two words since we met up.”

I had a good idea on how I could change the subject. “And, you haven’t talked about your lady friend at all. You guys looked cozy, like you knew each other.”

That got him.
