When October Starts (Juno & Ezra, #1)(21)
Author: Seven Rue

“There’s something I need to talk to you about. It’s about Christmas and I don’t wanna upset you or anything, but I need to tell you.” His voice sounded slightly unsure.

“I know that Santa’s not real,” I mocked, and I heard him chuckle. “It’s a little more serious than that, Juno.”

“If it will upset me, then I don’t think I want you to tell me,” I frowned.

He walked over to me with two cups of tea in his hands and he set them down on the coffee table. “I have to tell you. I’ll feel better if I do, and I don’t want you to find out someday and then be mad at me for never telling you.”

I scrunched up my nose. “All right. Tell me.” I prepared myself for the worst and watched him closely as he chose his words carefully.

“Wait.” I held up my hand to stop him from talking. “Let’s talk about the upsetting part after the presents. It’s nothing big or expensive…but when I saw it, I thought of you and wanted you to have it.”

I held the present to him and he took it with a smile on his face. He ripped the paper off the little box, then opened it and found my present in it. “A pick puncher?”

I nodded. “You said you lose your picks a lot, so now, instead of buying new ones every time you need one, you can just use this to punch one from an old credit card or something.”

He grinned, then cupped the back of my head and kissed my forehead. “This is perfect. I never thought of this. Thank you, sweetheart.”

“You’re welcome,” I replied, smiling brightly at him.

“Here, I got you something too.” He put the pick puncher down on the coffee table, then reached next to the couch to pick up the present.

I put it on my lap and looked at him before ripping the paper. My jaw dropped as I saw what it was, and I lifted it up to take a better look at it. “This is…I love it!” It was a retro sweater coming straight from the eighties. I owned many of those, but this one just became my favorite because Ezra gifted it to me.

“I figured you’d love it. I had to go shop for it in my grandpa’s closet,” he joked.

“Why are you saying it like it’s a bad thing?” I grinned, cuddling the sweater to my chest. “It’s perfect. Thank you.”

“You’re the only girl I know who can pull these sweaters off and still look adorable,” he told me.

“Good. Don’t expect me to wear anything else when it’s cold.” I reached into my bag to pull out the envelope and handed it to him. “I got this in the mail this morning.”

Ezra looked at the envelope and quickly opened it. He must’ve read the name on the back, and he made quick work of pulling the letter out.

I pressed my lips into a thin line and held back a grin. “You got accepted!” he exclaimed wide eyed. “Juno, this is amazing! Congrats!” He pulled me into his embrace and held me tight while his hands rubbed my back. “I’m proud of you, sweetheart. Are you excited?”

I nodded, keeping my arms wrapped around his neck. I leaned back and looked into his eyes, and the joy in them was not to miss. “Very. That means we can see each other every day if we want.”

“Only a few more months, and we don’t have to hide anymore.”

Ezra

After the good news of Juno attending Lakewood College after summer, I forgot about what I wanted to tell her that might’ve upset her. We were lying on the couch, her body tucked against mine and my arms around her, holding her tight.

The tv wasn’t on, but I turned on the radio. Old songs played quietly while we enjoyed each other’s presence, and I wished she wouldn’t have to leave tonight.

I ran my hand through her long hair, keeping my eyes closed to take in every second with her in my arms.

“What time is it?” she whispered. She was tired, and I wished I could drive her home instead of making her walk all the way back to her house. But even if I tried to drive her a few streets away from hers, she insisted on walking.

I opened my eyes to look at the clock on the wall, then closed them again and kissed the top of her head. “Six-thirty. You should get going soon.”

She nodded and turned her head to look up at me. “What was it that you wanted to tell me about? The thing that might upset me?”

So she didn’t forget.

I breathed in deeply and studied her face before talking. “I’m headed home for Christmas to visit my parents, and I asked Olivia if she wants to come with me. She doesn’t have a car, but her parents live in the same city as mine.”

Her brows furrowed, but I was quick to ease her worries. “I’ll just drop her off, that’s all.”

“I thought she doesn’t live here anymore.”

“She doesn’t. But she lives one town over. Half an hour from here.” I brushed her hair back and kept my eyes on hers. “I’m just doing her a little favor so she doesn’t have to take the bus in this weather. I don’t want you to worry, okay? I’m all yours.”

She was jealous, and I had to admit, seeing her like that made me happy. It meant that she loved me and didn’t want my ex to be around me. But Olivia wasn’t the enemy here, and I wasn’t the bad guy either.

“It’s just a car ride. If this between us were easier, I would’ve taken you to meet my family.”

“You would?” she asked surprised.

“Of course I would, Juno.” I sighed and sat up, pulling her onto my lap. “Come here.” I grabbed her face in my hands and pressed my lips on hers, kissing her passionately. I needed her to trust me.

Juno’s hands moved into my hair, and I gripped her waist to hold her close to me. I wanted her to know that no matter who I was with, she was the only one I wanted to hold at the end of the day.

My tongue moved between her lips, and as mine met hers, they danced with each other in a way they never did before. I could feel the passion in her kiss which made me love her even more. It was strange, but it seemed as if every time I saw her again, my heart grew bigger. She affected me differently than anyone ever did.

“Maybe I can skip dinner,” she whispered into the kiss, pressing her crotch against my dick. That sounded like a great plan since I was about to burst in my damn pants just from kissing her, but I didn’t want her moms to get angry at her.

“You think that’s a good idea?” My lips moved to her neck, and I left a trail of kisses along her jaw.

“I need you.” Her answer was good enough for me, but probably not for her mothers. “I’ll send them a text saying I missed the ferry back to mainland.” I still disliked how she had to lie to her parents, but we had no other way of hiding our relationship.

While she reached for her backpack to pull out her phone, I started to unbutton her pants. I pushed my hand into her jeans and cupped her wetness with the palm of my hand, then started to rub her clit over her panties.

A moan escaped her as she punched a text into her phone to send her mothers, and when she was done, she let it fall onto the carpet.

Her hands pulled at my sweatshirt, and I got rid of it quickly before lifting her and laying her onto her back. I leaned over her and pulled her jeans down her legs, panties included.
